A list of puns related to "Industrial Marketing and Purchasing Group"
It's also interesting that DC fandome falls on the rumored Xbox August event dates but that is just a coincidence, but yes this will put a damper on the rumors or escalate them quite a bit.
tl;dr If you are going to use my life as a data set to market to me (or people similar to me) more effectively, then I should be paid for it.
Many companies offer free goods/services and, in exchange, they use many parts of said good/service to learn every thing they can about you. Information such as your location & travel habits, search/internet history, spoken discussion, likeness, purchase history, age/sex/career/salary/family, social media usage, and more are all used to provide clear information to third party companies looking to sell or convince you of something.
If every part of my life gives insight to corporations so that they can better sell to me, then I should be compensated for my contributions.
I am conducting marketing research on what peopleβs habits are when purchasing books. Here is the link to the survey I put together on Google Forms. Thanks for participating!
That's a roundabout way of saying I am stuck and I need adult supervision.
I am researching the history of the naming convention of the layer cake pan. (don't laugh, it's important to know what size pan you need to make a Washington Pie.)
Up until at least 1938 Ecko (and Wearever) were still using the terms 'Jelly cake' pan and 'mountain cake' pan in their catalogs to refer to 1" and 2" high shallow cake rounds. These terms go back at least to the post civil war industrialization era and refer to the height of the cake round produced.
HOWEVER I have a theory that the US War Department /Quartermaster corp buying habits would have promoted efficiency and specificity over these quaint naming habits. Causing companies to relabel them by SHAPE AND HEIGHT from that point onward, regardless whether they were for the home or industrial use; yielding 1" round layer cake and 2" square layer cake pans forever more.
I have no idea how to prove my theory as most of the stuff I am reading on WWII homefront Industrialization don't get that specific. Layer cake rounds aren't that interesting to most historians.
Ideas?

Iβm looking into purchasing a new Brother Industrial machine for my mother. For the past 20-25 years her primary machine has been a Singer 188K1, early 70s. Iβm starting to play mechanic and actually sew too, so a new machine we could both learn together is really cool to me. Unfortunately, the process of acquiring one of these seems to be unwritten. Just looking for a single needle lock stitch, being able to sew denim is a plus. Mostly just alterations these days, no more window treatments for the time being.
I donβt really have a reason to be focused on Brother brand, itβs just the first one I thought of to look at. I know thereβs Juki that makes Industrials as well. Any recommendations for brands with East Coast (USA) technical support /repair? Do machines come with a table or do you have to cut a table to fit? Are the machines anywhere near end user serviable/repairable?
Iβm also concerned about the move to Direct-Drive motors. Do they get adequate ventilation being inside the machine housing? Also worried about longevity as it related to the on board electronics. We arenβt stupid people, but are the machines intuitive enough to not worry about weeks of learning how to turn it on and off?
