His research into alleged attacks by Alexander Zverev against an ex-girlfriend triggered an investigation. What makes the world's most powerful tennis journalist tick?
Alexander Zverev is playing an excellent season, became Olympic champion in Tokyo and is gradually working to meet the high expectations he has aroused with his talent. But a dark cloud hovers over the German: the abuse allegations of his ex-girlfriend Olga Sharypova, with whom he was together from September 2018 to October 2019. The 24-year-old Russian claims she was repeatedly beaten by him. Because of the physical and psychological violence against her, she even tried twice to kill herself by injecting an overdose of insulin.
US reporter Ben Rothenberg followed up on her allegations, which first circulated in Russia, and made them public for the first time less than a year ago and stuck to the story. Zverev has repeatedly denied the allegations and taken legal action. The case has been simmering in the background for a long time and divides the tennis scene.
The Laver Cup, the event organized by Federer manager Tony Godsick, blocked anyone on Twitter who posted anything about it, as Zverev was one of the most important participants. Well-known TV commentator Mary Carillo even withdrew from the event because she did not want to be silenced.
Now the ATP, the association of professional male players and organizer of the tour, has taken action and has launched an investigation. ATP managing director Massimo Calvelli said: βThe allegations against Zverev are serious. We have a responsibility to get to the bottom of them. We hope that our investigation will allow us to establish the facts and take the appropriate action. " He welcomes this step, said Zverev in Indian Wells. He would have wished for it a year ago because he suffered from the allegations.
For Rothenberg it is a satisfaction that the ATP is now active. If the freelance tennis reporter, who also writes for the "New York Times", hadn't worked through this relationship drama in a journalistic way, this would hardly have happened.
He came across the affair on social media: "I saw an Instagram post from Sharypova in Russian and wanted to find out what was behind it," he said in an interview during the US Open. His stories are as fluid as his texts - it just gushes out of him. βThen I found out that she was in New Jersey, so very close. I met her and when I listened to it I thought it was a story worth writing down.β

My 2nd great-grandfather, Moische Dreer, immigrated to New York on June 25, 1891 with his son Abram from "Russia". They moved to Philadelphia and around January of 1892, purchased tickets for the rest of the family to be delivered to Lemburg, or Lwow, Poland - wife Tsipa "Zippe" Dreer, and children Benzion, Itzhak, and Josef, who arrived in Philadelphia on Feb 15, 1892. On the passenger list, their last residence was Czernowitz. Lots of info to work with for origins!
But that's where the trail runs dry in Philadelphia. I can't locate Moische or Zippe Dreer in the 1900 US Census or any census after, no graves, death certs, naturalization, just nothing. I check the cemeteries where the kids are buried - no dice. I search every variation of Morris and Celia, Moishe and Tsipa, etc. Even worse, all the kids list their parents as Morris and Celia on their death certs so I know it's them, just can't locate anything for the life of me.
Now the kids, Abe, Benny, Joe, and Isaac (Isadore, my ggf) all naturalize in Philly. On Benjamin and Joe's naturalization papers, they list "Winnitza" as their place of birth. This leads me to find a Dreer family in Vinnitsa from their archives where everything matches - Moische is "Aron-Moyshe Shmulovich Dreer", wife Tsipa, Abe and Joe are listed in the 1891 family census of Jews. Case closed, right?
But I still can't find where Morris and Celia went! Until Friday!
Going through Newspapers.com to find an obituary for a cousin, I decide to search for Dreer between their arrival in 1892 and 1910. And after sifting through pages and pages of Dreers in Philadelphia (since a famous Dreer family ran a large seed business there) I locate a very interesting article.
"Foreigner Wants His Name Changed. Desiring to have his name legally recorded as Abraham Dreer. Abraham Goldstein yesterday petitioned Judge Dallas in the United States Circuit Court to have it so written on his naturalization papers. He stated that his name was Dreer, but that when he came to this country from Russia, he found his father using the name of Goldstein, and so he, too, assumed it. He was naturalized under that name. The court withheld its decision..." The Philadelphia Inquirer, April 26, 1904.
Hmm! So I take a look at Abraham's naturalization as Abraham Dreer - it occurs on June 6, 1904. Well that can't just be a coincidenc

Seriously, people are so lazy that they would actually just copy paste a Reddit thread with its top comments and publish it as though it was a news article! That's not writing! That's the epitome of laziness did anybody actually give consent for these people to take their ideas? A quote writer unquote should not have to copy paste in order to create an article. If they are that lazy and unqualified, they should not even be in the industry.
TLDR: if you copy/paste Reddit threads and publish them as articles, you are lazy and unqualified to be a 'writer.'
In an attempt to portray Lindell as a buffoon and a blow-hard, somehow Philip Bump manages to put forward 4 graphs and a few thousand words about a stammered, unclear or misspoken bit of chatter that he thinks Lindell might have said or meant in a quote inside a tweet.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/01/12/are-you-one-1-11-americans-mike-lindell-doesnt-want-arrest (Are you one of the 1 in 11 Americans Mike Lindell doesnβt want to arrest?)
While I guess Mike Lindell has said some things that Bump could attack and articulately discuss or debunk, Bump chose to focus on a statement that he's not even sure Lindell meant to say. I don't even think that Bump parsed it correctly. But no matter; the Post has a duty to run a hit piece on minutia and blunders. They've got to keep employing those crazy graphical experts who graph expert things graphically with expertise.
To Mr. Bump: What are you smoking? 300 some million of my brain cells would like to know. Or 300? A hyperbolic million of them? Can you write a story about me and use 4 graphs to explain your logic? And please don't interview me about what I said, just run the piece like a good WaPo journalist.
This is sophomoric whining about a tweet masquerading as "political analysis." I think Bump needs to have his head analyzed.
If I am writing an article and I need to get some information from an outside source, what is the best way to recreate the information without committing plagiarism? Can I simply paraphrase the information? If so, how exactly can I do that without plagiarising? Is paraphrasing acceptable as long as I credit the original source for the information?

Small-Cap Stocks Are in Line to Be Big Winners in 2022
Look at the 1 month chart and it's been a steady drop since these 2 articles happened. Very frustrating as I went all in on small caps and they are easily my biggest losers especially on a day like today with the market super up.
Since the 12th, there has been only ONE day the Index went up (by a measly 5 points), every other day has gone down.

Not sure if anyone else got this. I've honestly never heard of "Plagiarism Today". It doesn't look terribly professional, there are a handful of blatant goofs in the article ("Yesterday, Rolfe himse3lf...", tons of comma errors, uses "ethical" instead of "unethical", etc.). The article does mention the decline of the channel under the stewardship of ScreenWave Media, which is a nice touch.
Regardless of the shaky mechanics of this article, I can't help but find it funny that an online website called Plagiarism Today published an article "The Cinemassacre Monster Plagiarism Scandal". Nice going, Jamesy and ScreenWave, hope you enjoy your new reputation as a plagiarist (eventhoughididntdoit!)
Universities are tend to be strict on the plagiarism issues and I am currently studying in ICBT Campus. I somehow got 21% plagiarism similarity index but I didn't copy and paste from sources. I used own words with sources being cited. Somehow I got 21% plagiarism similarity which is quite high and I am extremely disappointed and depressed to see this. This should be my first crime in my life and giving me kinda suicidal thoughts. I don't know what to do now. I initially thought that I could get plagiarism rate just at 10%. My other friends got just like 4%, 10% whereas I got whopping 21% for no reason. Turnitin ruined my life ffs

>Valve has also invested heavily in VR headsets, which are well reviewed but not very popular.
From the linked "not very popular" article:
>Valve Index for $999: We haven't tried the first VR headset from Valve, but the Index is another high-end option with comparable resolution to the Cosmos Elite. Unlike HTC's headset, the Index does support inside-out tracking right out of the box and uses USB-C. It supports room-scale VR, requires a PC, and comes with 2 controllers and 2 base stations.
Awesome reporting there Wired. The "well-reviewed" is "we didn't try them".
Do they pay their writers with Scoobie snacks? But they loved the Quest 2, presumably because it was cheap, due to Facebook.
