Hello! I just started with 3D Reconstruction and wanted to go trough all steps individually. Now I am facing the problem of camera calibration to rectify both images to afterwards calculate the disparity map/depth map.
Up to know I unfortunately do not have access to a stereo camera and some example pictures. I started taking ‘stereo‘ images with my phone but therefore I can’t write the exact code for stereo calibration and stereo rectification.
So my question is if someone knows a dataset with checkerboard calibration images and example images taken with the same camera.

In the recent presentation by Andrej Karpathy for Tesla AI, he mentions inserting a layer to map all images from different view to a unified synthetic space. This layer is a function of camera calibration parameters. What does it mean ? So instead of using camera parma to map each view to a known 3D space where you can then project points from each camera image, this projection is learnt for each view seprately?
Along with it they show the visualisation which I honestly couldn't understand of the repeater camera view and positive impact of the rectification.
