A list of puns related to "INS Karanj"
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Iran has a nationalized oil industry. This is all good and well; we keep almost all of the profits per barrel and these days mostly use domestic talent (though not domestic equipment) to keep our industry running and expanding. However, despite this rather idyllic arrangement which has ensured a vast flow of revenues into the country for the past decade, well, letโs just say we could be doing better.
The first problem is that despite our best efforts, domestic capital and domestic expertise have not kept up with global oil demand, which these days is truly skyrocketing. It is estimated that our production will need to double by 1974 to keep up with trends, and we doubt we can actually achieve this. If we were to fall behind in production relative to other powers with access to foreign expertise, say Saudi Arabia or Venezuela, our position in the global oil market would be permanently harmed.
The second problem is that most of our oil is still sold to the big Anglosphere oil companies, the so-called โSeven Sisters.โ This has mostly worked out so far โ weโve stuck to the standard pricing agreements and sold them whatever they need while deciding our own production levels. The problem is, if we want more, weโd rather negotiate with someone withโฆ less pricing power. Definitely not a company which has oil elsewhere, especially oil they directly control. Without independent downstream refining operations, we need to sell to someone, and weโd prefer to have the balance of power, basically.
The clear way forward, then, is to enlist independent producers. Producers which donโt have globe-spanning operations or vast integrated supply chains. Iran has made some moves in this area already. While our previous oil agreement has expired, leaving us in the Wild West, so to speak, we have developed relationships with smaller companies in Europe and South America which persist. And weโve made more efforts to expand our sales to domestic and neighboring markets through our own refining division.
However, we miscalculated. The future of oil demand clearly lies in Asia. Japan is already one of the worldโs largest consumers, possessing the worldโs third largest refining capacity, and growing economies like India, Korea, and Taiwan are beginning to invest in their own. Moves have already been made to correct this, of course, mostly through building relations with Japan. But again, we could be doing more.

I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies ๐
It really does, I swear!
