I often see these 2 games really high on people's favorites list and I personally can't understand why. I enjoy both games from time to time but I never really look forward to them when I do a replay of the series and find it hard to become immersed in them. I'm currently replaying all the games and wanna know what you guys love about them so maybe I can find new things to appreciate this time around😊
I know this is an unpopular opinion so I'll put my explanation below! Once again, this is just my own opinion! They're nowhere near the bottom of my ranking (looking at you RAN, MED, DAN, and CRE) but also nowhere near my top ten (or even probably top 15) while most of the rankings I've seen people put them in their top 5-10.
DOG: the puzzles in this one kill me. Most of the puzzles relating to Malone are cool like the dog statues, and Baldo, but the rest are all chorelike. Don't get me started on the birds, AND the bugs, I hate that forest in general now. I also didn't like how few characters there were and none of them really added anything to the mystery and were all very boring to talk to. I love the cemetery and the speakeasy, and the story is pretty good, but everywhere else just falls flat for me. I really wanna enjoy this game more because like I said the environment and story have so much potential!
DDI: I think a big part of my immersion issue with this game is that I find most of the characters boring. Holt is decent and I love Hilda (though we never get to meet her), but everyone else kinda bores me. I also find the puzzles in this one to be kinda boring or tedious, like the clamming, all the whale world puzzles, etc.) There also doesn't feel like there's much to explore, Katie's boat is super cool but there's nothing to do there really and don't get me started on my hatred of Whale World and all the puzzles you do there. The lighthouse was cool though, and the café though there still wasn't much to look at. I also didn't enjoy kayaking which I think is part of my problem since that seems to be where a big chunk of the exploration budget was put. The story for this game was pretty good though but just didn't hook me (no pun intended lol).

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
