A list of puns related to "Hokusai Manga"
My grandma passed away not too long ago and I was going through her house. I found an old Japanese comic book and found out the creator was Hokusai. The book looks extremely old and maybe like the pages are made of bamboo. Can anyone tell me about it or pm me and I can send images of it? Genuinely curious about it.
While I was in my local book shop I came across this https://imgur.com/a/g3sTHUZ
What are the drawings about and as a person who is interested in Japanese culture I was wondering if I should get it?
P.S What is the animal on the cover in the image? It looks like a koi fish but it's really long. Does it appear anywhere else in Japanese culture? Thanks in advance!
Hi Japan travel, since my last post (V3) I've made more changes than I anticipated I would (it is now point to point instead of a round trip among other things), so I'd love it if you could cast your eyes over it again. Relating to when the trip would be, its more likely to be at the end of this year (hopefully) but with the restrictions who knows. I have listed the days of the week though as I know what day of the week I would be flying out, so if some attractions are closed on certain days it'd be easier to shuffle them around. In terms of specific questions whilst I have a fairly concrete idea of what areas I'm staying in for Tokyo and Kyoto, I'm still figuring out where I should stay in Osaka, plus I'd appreciate any recommendations for good accomodation under 10000yen/night in Hiroshima and Yokohama!
Flying in from Melbourne to Tokyo overnight with JAL
Tokyo (Staying in Asakusa)
Day 1(Sat): Arrive in the morning, drop off luggage at the hotel and do light exploring. If Iβm feeling energetic go to the Edo-Tokyo Museum. Afterwards check in and settle in.
Day 2(Sun): Visit the Hokusai Museum and Edo-Tokyo museum in the morning (if not already), visit Senso-Ji on the way back as well as the Nakamise shopping street. Have lunch in the area, do more exploring, return to the hotel. Then have drinks on Hoppy street after dinner.
Day 3(Mon): Train out to Koishikawa gardens in the late morning, then head over to Yanaka, having lunch around the main shopping strip. Visit Yanaka cemetery and the temple inside it in the afternoon, then head through Ueno Park to Ameyoko.
Day 4(Tue): Take a train out to the Imperial Palace in the morning, explore the gardens and visit MoMA before lunch. Take the train afterwards to Akihabara, have lunch and explore until I get tired.
Day 5(Wed): Take a train to Tsukiji in the morning, explore and eat an early lunch, then explore Ginza, Kyobashi and Nihonbashi throughout the day until I get tired.
Day 6(Thu): Train out to Yoyogi or Shinjuku stations. Visit Shinjuku Gyoen, Meiji-jingu and Omotesando in morning, Harajuku in the afternoon. After dinner either back in Asakusa or around Shinjuku, explore Kabukicho then Omoide Yokocho before heading back to the hotel.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
The nurse asked the rabbit, βwhat is your blood type?β
βI am probably a type Oβ said the rabbit.
The doctor says it terminal.
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat
Do your worst!
How the hell am I suppose to know when itβs raining in Sweden?
We told her she can lean on us for support. Although, we are going to have to change her driver's license, her height is going down by a foot. I don't want to go too far out on a limb here but it better not be a hack job.
Ants donβt even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.
But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.

I'm currently planning my first trip to Japan next year in either of the two time periods listed above. I'd love to visit in time for the cherry blossoms to start blooming but also know that unless the Japanese government opens up in the next couple of months a later 2022 trip is more likely. Here is the itinerary as follows;
1: Arrive in Tokyo flying from Melbourne, staying in Shibuya, rest day with light exploring
2: Exploring Shinjuku whilst visiting Harajuku and Meiji Jingu during the day, Golden Gai at night.
3: Explore Shibuya and Minato city areas, visiting Roppongi, Sengakuji and Odaiba if I have time.
4: Visit Ghibli Museum, explore Kichijoji
5: Shinkansen to Nagoya in the morning, visit Tokugawa and Toyota museums, continue to Kyoto, visit Toji temple and staying Northeast of the station.
6: Explore Gion and Higashiyama, visit Nijo Castle, Manga Museum and Nishiki Market
7: Visit as many of the temples and shrines in east Kyoto as possible, as well as the Philosophers Path
8: Visit Kinkaku-ji and Ninna-ji as well as Arashiyama
9: Local train to Osaka, staying central near Umeda station? Visit Osaka castle and Shitennoji
10: Explore central Osaka
11: Day trip to Kobe, visit area around Shin-Osaka on way back (Asahi Museum?)
12: Day trip to Nara, visit Nara park and Todai-ji as well as the Heijo palace
13: Shinkansen to Himeji, see the castle and gardens, continue to Hiroshima in late afternoon, staying central
14: Visit peace park + museum, Mazda museum and Shukkeien gardens.
15: Visit Miyajima in the morning, Shinkansen back to Tokyo in late afternoon/ evening, staying in Asakusa.
16: Explore Asakusa, visit Hokusai museum
17: Explore Ikebukuro and Yanaka, visit Koishikawa gardens
18: Explore Akihabara, visit Imperial palace area and MoMA if I have time
19: Explore Ginza, Nihonbashi and Kyobashi areas, plus Tsukuji if I have time
20: Free day, revisiting an area of Tokyo I liked, possibly fly back in evening
21: Fly back to Melbourne if I haven't already.
I orginally had planned this itinerary over 2 weeks but figured I'd stretch it over 3 to reduce the chance of over exerting myself. My questions are:
1: Are Nagoya and Kobe worth visiting? Besides the attractions I listed, I feel like these could be ditched to spend more time in other places, particularly Kyoto.
2: Are there attractions or areas near those on this list that I'm missing out on? Was debating doing a day trip to either Nikko or Kamakura during my second T
