A list of puns related to "Highland Laddie"
Reading the comics and I just got to the part where homelander calls his βmeetingβ after believe expo which left me on a βholy fuck!β Cliffhanger Wee man left New York and has gone back to Scotland I thought Iβd enjoy this issue but itβs just hughie being emotional and upset about all the shite he got up to the only thing I like is that itβs in Scotland and the village heβs staying in is a real place just worded different. I didnβt like herogasm either I only read it because itβs mentioned briefly in the tv series plus since hughies an American I donβt think there going to do anything with him going back to his roots. Does highway laddie link to the main comic or have anything of importance to the story?
Edit:Just read it regret shitting on it the first two issues are boring but it picks up and is genuinely a good read
I'm on part 3 and up till now it's pretty boring, does it get better?
Does anyone have or know where I can find the sheet music for Highland Laddie? Thanks!

And as title says, this is the last time I'll be selling these single issues (not including the sets).
Disclaimer: assume none of these issues are mint condition, but I'll do my best to list any damages that are beyond VF.

So I've been thinking for a bit now and have spent too much money on Scotch during this pandemic and have come to a few conclusions that I really want to discuss and learn more about. I am a Canadian, so our access has always been quite limited, but now that this situation has been improving, I wanted to express these thoughts.
The big brands are increasingly lacking in quality and value. Glenfiddich, Glenlivet, Macallan, Highland Park... even ignoring a couple of these are under the same ownership. Their cost efficient ranges of scotch are either lacking quality or value and their high end is extremely overpriced. Highland Park 25 may be the best Scotch I have tasted, but it's $1000 CAD a bottle here and I ain't rolling in it. FYI Glenfarclas 25 is $265 here, so how can you say Highland Park is worth almost 4x that??
Age Statements are going away and it scares me. These new creatively marketed names are ridiculous. I don't know where it started, but I remember Highland park starting their viking series branding and since then it seems every brand wants to remove an age statement and call their scotch "cask of dreams" (Glenfiddich scam that got me) or something silly. Just tell us the age and barrels please! (admittedly, if the name is smart and tied to the history of the industry - like monkey shoulder - than I will keep smiling)
Distilleries like Bruichladdich are making me sad. Bruichladdich makes an unpeated Islay and the most peated Islay you can buy - they freely admit the gimmick side of the business and seem to care little about the craftsmanship/art. I did their warehouse tasting and they literally give you the non-peated and then the next dram is Octamore - that's just shock value and gimmick to me (I do feel people will hate this comment, the classic Laddie seems to have a larger fanbase than I understand)
The region systems needs to be improved/updated. Speyside means something, Islay means something... maybe lowland means something... Highland Scotch is a joke as it's moronic to connect Oban with Glenturret with Highland Park with Talisker with Glenmorangie (etc...)...Campbeltown is a scam under one company. Scotland has to either do away with that system or update it.
If you aren't doing your own infinity cask at home, you are missing out BIG time. This probably won't get too much in the "OP is an idiot" comments, but just reminding people to take that last dram or two in a good bottle and instead of holding on to it like
It's the first of the month so we have another batch of price changes. According to the "How to Become a Contract Liquor Agent" document, "The Agent must also complete price changes that occur at the first of the month..."
There are mostly price changes today (increases and decreases) with just a few new products and a few products changing status or being renamed. Most of the new products have not been added to the ohlq.com website yet so the links don't work at the moment.
Here's a link back to what changed last month on 10/1/21.
For each category I've sorted by the amount of the price increase or decrease. New products are shown first, then price decreases are shown in decreasing order followed by price increases in increasing order. At the end are products with other changes unrelated to price. OHLQ stopped publicly showing the Case Count in October so we can no longer see any changes to that.
Current product status is indicated on each line as follows. OHLQ hasn't publicly explained what these things mean but I've included my best guess below.
Tequila and Vodka changes wouldn't fit within the reddit character limit and are in their own replies below.
I have spent a decent chunk of change building up a scotch "shelf" over the last year. If this was your collection and you could only buy one more bottle under $250 USD or $400 CAD, what would it be? Please consider what I already have and if there is a unique single malt nose/flavour profile I am missing.
I already have:
Aberfeldy 16 Aberlour A'bunadh Ardbeg 10 Auchentoshan Three Wood The Balvenie Doublewood 12 Bruichladdich Classic Laddie Bowmore 15 Bunnahabhain 12 Clynelish 14 Cragganmore 20 Craigellachie 13 Dalmore 15 Dalwhinnie 15 Glendronach 21 The Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve The Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 14 Glen Scotia 15 Highland Park 18 Highland Park 25 Lagavulin 16 Laphroaig Lore Ledaig 10 The Macallan 12 Double Cask Oban 14 Old Pulteney 12 Talisker 10 Tamdhu 12
I've posted here a couple of times and ive been workinh my way throught the green book. Right now im working on memerization and playing along with others, i noticed that while playing highland laddie others d throws sound different from mine. It looks like they are using a heavy throw.
That's the background, should I be using a heavy throw? They are written the same how do you know which to use? I've been told I don't really need to learn the heavy, is that true? I've also had an injury to my top thumb and am not aloud to bend it, is there a good way other than taping the hole closed to still practice?
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
So, I thought I'd share a memory of my wife that is told very much at my expense, but goes to show what kind of woman she was. She was older than me, by a significant amount. I was fairly young, inexperienced and unsure of myself.
We went to our local RenFair, one of the biggest in California. We went in costume, hers a simple peasant dress and mine a great kilt (which she had made). I was having some problems keeping the kilt even, as it was two layers. Karen saw me having these problems and tried to help. She found the problem, lifted up my kilt and crouched underneath it to fix it.
So there we are, in front of God and everybody, my new wife under my kilt rummaging around, and twenty-one year old me trying my best not to die of embarrassment. She finished the adjustments, stood back up and carried on like nothing had happened.
Do your worst!
They were cooked in Greece.
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!
Because she wanted to see the task manager.
Heard they've been doing some shady business.
but then I remembered it was ground this morning.
Edit: Thank you guys for the awards, they're much nicer than the cardboard sleeve I've been using and reassures me that my jokes aren't stale
Edit 2: I have already been made aware that Men In Black 3 has told a version of this joke before. If the joke is not new to you, please enjoy any of the single origin puns in the comments
BamBOO!
Theyβre on standbi
A play on words.
Pilot on me!!
Christopher Walken
Nothing, he was gladiator.
Or would that be too forward thinking?
So my current favourites:
Ardbeg 10 - salted, smoked meat
Highland Park 12 - Sea salt, hint of smoke, slightly sweet
Glenfiddich 18 - All the sweets, light on the oak.
Bunnahabain 25 - All time favourite, crazy expensive but worth every penny
Bunnahabain 12 - Salt, sweet, vanilla, toffee goodness
Tomintoul 12 & 16 - both easy drinking, sweet and gentle
Old Pultney 15 - The ready salted bottle of whisky
Daftmill 2008 - Cider apples, complex and so good
I've tried a fair few others:
Lagavulin 16 - bit too dry camp fire and herbal medicine for me to love but otherwise nice
Dalwhinnie 15 - awesome honey finish, a bottle worth having but not quite an all time great
Aberfeldy 12 - Liquid honey although a little unrefined making it hard to drink more than a few
Edradour 2007 - Nice, love the thick texture but a little too much of the sherry raisins for my taste
Springbank 10 - Again nice, but has an odd bitter note that puts me off a little
Macallan 10 Fine Oak - meh? Not bad, just nothing to particularly commend
Glenmorangie 10 - Not bad, not great, inoffensive.
The ones I don't like:
Glenlivet Nadurra Oloroso Founders Reserve - boring, nothing really going on?
Glenfiddich 12 - again, a dull dram.
Glenfarclas - any of them, I have tried the whole range up to 25yrs, waaay too much raisins / prune juice thing going on. Nope, nope, nope.
Octomore 10.1 - yuck, I want something more than just liquid smoke
Caol ila 12 - (this was 13 years ago and I had a fair bit to drink by this point, so may be worth revisiting) pure smoke and not much else I can remember
Aberfeldy 16 - None of the honey, all of the wood, I thought additional age would tame the 12 but it just loses all character.
Clynelish 14 - It has that old heavy whisky profile, I thought I would like this but just don't get on with it.
TL;DR - I don't like heavy raisin profiles so anything other than a light sherry influence I am probably not going to like. I love salt and honey, a combination of salt, meat and honey will be a dream but really just avoid the pure smoke, dried fruit or bitter oak profiles. I've been considering Classic Laddie and Highland Park 18 (although not sure if the sherry in the HP18 will be to my taste), so far I've found the older malts lean a bit too heavily towards the wood and that bitter flavour puts me off - I have this problem with a lot of bourbons. I also realise that Bunna 25 is both old and sherried but it is the exception to the rule so
... keep reading on reddit β‘Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.

This morning, my 4 year old daughter.
Daughter: I'm hungry
Me: nerves building, smile widening
Me: Hi hungry, I'm dad.
She had no idea what was going on but I finally did it.
Thank you all for listening.
