From Saturday, Jan. 22 through Thursday, Jan. 27, six Harris County police officers were either killed or injured in the line of duty, prompting local officials to speak out on gun violence.
So there was a video of a robbery floating around that happened in Malaysia. Some people in the country's subreddit were sympathetic and advocated for more private gun ownership, but the rest were holy hell, strawmanning and hostilities galore and per the title, someone mentioned the GVA.

One reason for submission of this OP is to help increase awareness about the Gun Violence Archive, its credentials, and its operation, especially among doubting Thomases, naysayers, and others skeptical of the truth and the facts about the ongoing nationwide epidemic of gun violence in the United States.

Compare the United States daily average of 119 shooting victims, dead or wounded (not including a daily average of 60 suicides-by-gun), with the estimated daily average, ranging between 47 to 78 victims, dead or wounded, in the [Yemeni Civil War](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yemeni_Civil_War_(2015%E2%80%93present). Americans killing and wounding tens of thousands of Americans in the United States each year. Arabs killing and wounding tens of thousands of Arabs in Yemen each year.
III. The GVA General Methodology page includes details describing the methods and sources GVA utilizes to prove and verify each reported shooting, including mass shootings, multiple shootings, single shootings, and shootings in armed robberies, home invasions, self-defense incidents, rape incidents, etc. If the GVA is unable to prove and verify a reported shooting, it does not appear on the GVA site.
IV. Current data on the GVA site includes a count of 198,126 proven and verified gunshot victims, dead or wounded (not including an estimated 22k annual suicides-by-gun), occurring in the United States since Jan 1, 2014.
