βπ» I was surprised to see how close it was to actual Times Square! You could see the billboard and ball drop in the same picture!
For the life of me I cannot find this episode, or what show it's even from, anywhere and I've been wondering about it for ages. I know it's from an episodic style tv show like Crypt or Darkside but the tone fits closer to Darkside's stories - less comedic irony in the 'moral'. I must've watched this somewhere around 15 years ago but the program was felt like a rerun of something older than from 2006, possibly even as far back as the 80's since Tales from the Darkside started running in the early 80's.
Buckle up my dudes this is a wild story and I'll do my best to describe what I remember:
In the episode a young woman rents a room in a multilevel home to escape her abusive ex boyfriend, I want to say she's somewhere in her late 20's. The owner of the home is some kind of scientist or doctor, older than the woman renting a room but not terribly so- maybe late 30's, who uses human remains to grow/develop plants for some kind of science-y blah blah blah to make humans immortal(?). I recall he used the top floor to do experiments and there was a greenhouse on the roof.
Also in the home is a stern somewhat older woman closer in age to the scientist/doctor guy, she isn't particularly old or anything but I recall her being dressed like a Victorian schoolmarm so she appears much more severe. She acts as an assistant to the doctor and he is unaware this woman is very obviously super in love with him - he see's her as a friend and confidant but he's also a hot doctor so of course she's down to clown.
Predictably the young woman's ex finds where she has moved to and breaks in to find her, they fight on the stairs with the ex attempting to kill her but (also predictably) the doctor saves her and the abusive ex dies in the process. I can't remember how he died but doctor science man uses his corpse in his experiments to make...corpse plants? I guess? In any case the young woman thinks that's real neato because it starts up their friendship. Even more predictably they fall in love and definitely Do The Do in the rooftop greenhouse, which the schoolmarm lady witnesses and is Big Pissed. Bummer for her, I guess.
The episode ends with schoolmarm lady accidentally killing doctor guy when she went after the ~New GF~ in a jealous rage and seriously wounds her. BUT WAIT! THERES A TWIST! GF is pregnant with doctor guy's baby! Since schoolmarm lady was so super duper in love with him she can't bring herself to go through with killing the GF bc this baby is now the last
... keep reading on reddit β‘You remember the old days of watching movies cable TV. A lot of channels tend to cut off blood, nudity, swearing, and even story segments. Back when the word "shit" wasn't a common swear and had to censor it.
I remember watching From Dusk Till Dawn on AMC. I wondered how Sex Machine (Tom Savini) turned into a vampire without being harmed by the vampires. It turns out the program cut off a segment where the surviving characters were finishing off killing the unconscious vampires. One vampire woke up and bit Sex Machine in the arm by surprise and he hid his wound under his jacket sleeve. Hence why he succumbed to vampirism. Don't know why the channel had to remove that part.
I was reading an article the other day about how Only Fools and Horses is really popular in Serbia and Serbians really like it because Peckham reminds them of Serbia. So I was just wondering what other UK programs are popular in mainland Europe.
Yet the basement jerks the one that comes on every Wednesday on TNT.
Something I have always found a bit weird. Watching Top Gear from last weekend, Flintoff is in Beetle in the pissing rain, the heater obviously doesn't work because it's a Beetle all of the windows are steamed up, the wipers are not fit for purpose and he's using a handheld communication device to deliver scripted dialogue. How is this driving with due care and attention?

EDIT: Thank you all for the great suggestions so much to watch. Canβt wait.
How do you access programs on a TV ap?We have a Roku smart TV with the Peloton App. I wanted to do Emmaβs crush your core on the tv today but I couldnβt find it. Ended up doing it from my phone app. Anyone know how to find these classes?
I am learning French, and I like painting. And I think a show about painting would be the coolest thing to watch, especially an old one that would be available on Youtube so I would not have to search a lot to find it on my streaming apps.
So I remember one I used to watch when I was a kid, and I vaguely remember it. But it went like this, a French educational show where the presenter (an old man), went around historical french sites to sketch them. Then he goes back to his studio to paint them with watercolors. He would often talk about the sites themselves and their significance in French history. Could anyone give me a tip about what it's called?
Also, if there are any French shows about painting, or similar educational Programs, especially if aimed at young adults or adolescents so that the language level would be somehow understandable for an intermediate student.
Thanks in advance.
Need some input to see if this would be useful to anybody. And if possible donations or other people would help contribute to the program in terms of coding it.
This would take ANY url and grab movies titles / TV titles from it.
I like to have something playing in the background while cross stitch or get things done around the house. I love true crime but it starts to affect my mood, depression and anxiety. Thanks in advance!
