A list of puns related to "Groupe Bruxelles Lambert"
Hi!
I just received a promotion card with 50% off on this restaurant for the 100th birthday => https://auxarmesdebruxelles.com/en/home-2/
I subscribed on Facebook and was selected. I wanna go but on the same time..as someone who grow up in Brussels, the address (Butcher's street) does trigger my "Tourist - AVOID" alarm.
Did someone already did go there ? Is it good, does it worth it ?
(It's on the Michelin guide and the advice on trip advisor seems good but..well..I don't trust at 100% trip advisor)
Thanks!
Yes, I’m fully on board with the criticisms of him being the mouthpiece for Men of the Year, but last night Dan was fucking fire on the mic. An economy of words, eloquent, succinct and sharp. Just a masterclass that Heenan would prob even be proud of.
Edit: His hoodie last night also looked cozy as hell.
They don’t make Euros like this anymore. Bruxelles 1893 was published in 2013 is certainly an under-appreciated game. Some might say that a 7.6 rating in BGG doesn’t justify using the term ‘under-appreciated’ but you can check out any ‘best board games of 2013’ list, chances are you won’t find this. But the ones that have played this game will tell you what I’m about to.
I’m here to tell you that this is a brilliant game par none. It makes you realise how much Euros have changed over a period of time. Today, a medium-heavy Euro means a large box/board, intricate player boards, complex ruleset, almost no player interaction, long player turn times and box full of games wooden components.
While I love these kinds of games too, it’s refreshing to play a medium-heavy game that in not so big box, small boards, simple player boards, simple ruleset, fewer components, crunchy agonising decisions, loads of player interactions and very mean at that, with very little components.
The theme of Bruxelles 1893 would put you to sleep - art nouveau, nobles, art, architecture, prestige, victory points etc. I mean, some would pretty much expect a good old resource conversion goodness. This game though, introduces a lot of very interesting mechanisms which I haven’t seen emulated or adapted in any other games since.
You place your worker and do three things at once - bid for the card, take a certain action, compete for the area majority bonus - all this with the placement of one of your worker. So, your turns carry weight from turn one. Plus, the cost for building changes every time someone builds a building and they have agency in determining what would be the cost for anyone to build the next building. And the way this is implemented with the rotating needles is quite bold. Also, the price at which the seller of the art sells directly influences the price of all the other art works that other players may be holding. The way this is implemented is using a very unique price table (you’ve got to see it to appreciate it).
And then a bunch of few other mechanisms as well. The way all these mechanisms tie together smoothly and seamlessly confirms what a work of genius this game is.
From an accessibility point of view, the game plays excellently well at all advertised player counts. Sadly this is not as common in games as it should be. This game though, rocks at all player counts. The choice of colours in the game is just perfect. Easily distinguishable for any type
