A list of puns related to "Gloom (card game)"
If you donβt like them, why? If you do like them, what aspects do you find the most engaging? Do you strictly save them for party situations?
My friends and I enjoy them, but I find we tend to only ever play them in large group or party type scenarios.
Hey everyone! First time posing here and looking to make some trades. Wants list is below but more than willing to hear out any other offers. Thanks!

Anyone know of any card games that have transparent cards with the same card stacking mechanic of gloom?
Anybody know of other card games that are just so freakin awful to play that you literally envy the deaths the card characters get to experience?
Gloom is a simply amazing card game that features unique play elements and amazing artwork. To quote it's website,
"In the Gloom card game, you assume control of the fate of an eccentric family of misfits and misanthropes. The goal of the game is sad, but simple: you want your characters to suffer the greatest tragedies possible before passing on to the well-deserved respite of death. You'll play horrible mishaps like Pursued by Poodles or Mocked by Midgets on your own characters to lower their Self-Worth scores, while trying to cheer your opponents' characters with marriages and other happy occasions that pile on positive points. The player with the lowest total Family Value wins."
The flavor of this game is too much fun, and if your friends enjoy roll-playing, they'll have a good time with this one. As I previously mentioned, the art work is perfect, closely resembling the work of Edward Gorey.
You can read more about the Gloom on the website. I urge you to try Gloom out, there are even multiple expansions available! Sorry if I sound like an advertisement, but this game is just too good.
Hello everyone, here's another article, this time I'm taking you back to the (ether)sea, as we'll be having a look at Elathain's Soulraid in this post far Meta. I will also bring 2 new decks to you, with some discussion about the card choices and the game plan for each of these. I hope you enjoy reading it! I'll see you next week talking about another warband, that remains hidden in the gloom for now...

Just got Gloom in the mail, can't wait to play it. How have your guys misadventures in family management gone for you?
Edit: played a round with my wife to test it out, we both really liked it but can see where with a less creative group it might be boring. You do need to dive into the role of the story telling and keep up with all of the characters stories to add on and keep it going. It's basically depression humor guided improv.
To users:
The current climate in the subreddit has to change.
With the Toxic amount of doom and gloom comments taking over in response to every post, going forward such comments will be managed with removal and then bans to users who only contribute sentiments like "nothing will happen".
Oddly, while in less than a year several people have been sentenced to years in Prison and now there are Seditious Conspiracy indictments such negative comments have only increased.
The timeline for DOJ action on this unprecedented event is FAST when compared to every other large scale conspiracy and criminal prosecution.
To not give any credit to that is being blind.
It is becoming harder for us as Moderators to tell the difference between actual bad actors saying "nothing will happen" and well meaning users who share our goals just saying "nothing will happen" and "wrist slap" all the time.
In addition there are valid concerns that this is an orchestrated response to create voter apathy and feelings of hopelessness. It is just becoming a depressing chorus over, and over, and over again.
It is now Doomscrolling for all others participating and engaging in the subreddit.
We know you may need a place to vent, and we are not unsympathetic to this or saying you have to be Captain Sunshine about things, but it is becoming "pure Eeyore bullcr@p" (thanks u/Dobermanpure) and has become intolerable.
Examples of such things are:

Yes we have injuries on the line. Yes we are thin at WR depth. Yes we have the immortal Playoff Brady. Yes we have the only WR in history to hit 1K yards his first 8 seasons. Yes we have the TE who holds the record for most 100 yard games with Tony Gonzalez. Yes we have Vea. Yes we have Suh. Yes we have Shaq. Yes we have Lavonte. Yes we have JPP. Yes we have White. Yes we have Winfield. Yes we have Whitehead. Yes we have Bunting. Yes we have Dean. Yes we have Fournette. Yes we have Blaine Fucking Gabbert. Guys, this team is a shovel headed killing machine. Bucs by 14. LETS FUCKING GO.
Anesthesia - CRNAs
Primary care - midlevels + charting nightmare
Hospitalist medicine - hospital administrators + charting nightmare
Private practice - have fun being bought out by giant hospital systems
Gen surg - have fun not having a life till you're later in your career
Surgical subspecialties + derm + ophtho - good luck on step 2
Cards - have fun not having a life till you're later in your career
GI - good luck on step 2 apparently, hope you're going to an academic residency
Nephro/endocrine/rheum/ID- have fun getting paid less than a generalist
OB/GYN - have fun not having a life
Emergency - good luck finding a job in 5-10 years
Rad/onc - good luck finding a job right now
Obviously this is made somewhat in jest and is nowhere near a complete list.. but it serves a serious point. How do I choose a field to go into when it seems like everything in medicine is crashing and burning? You are either a work horse for your money or you work good hours but make not great money.
Anecdotal cases find great gigs in between but this is not nearly the norm. All the while there are constant threats to your job security from outside sources. Am I spending too much time online listening to rants?
Anyone else fucking crush it? It might all end next week, but right now weβre dancing on our opponentsβ graves!
This is the thread to celebrate our wins, which of course have nothing to do with luck and are 100% attributable to our unparalleled skill, sage wisdom, and gorgeous looks.
Come on you brave, handsome devils, give yourself a hand. Huzzah!!
Basically the title, a bit more context.
I've been crazy enough to engage myself in an attempt to create a (perfect?) balance between different game systems, some favoring player-brewed narration with help of textual cards (like Gloom of Kilforth that I *totally not forgot to back in the recent Kickstarter reprint dammit :/*, or some dungeon crawlers), others favoring world discovery (like 7th Continent) and finally others providing interesting character leveling and tactical combat (like Massive Darkness although this one had some serious flaws).
This would be a 95% card-based game (including equipment management) so of course for sad monetary reasons I would like to avoid hundreds of cards of them. But let's put that aside for a moment to just focus on fun factor. And compare two opposites.
1/ "Generic bonus" weapons: like many games where you get mainly "+1 sword, +2 mace, Lightning bow" where usually the more rare the equipment the better the bonus, but it's always "just" a numerical addition to some stat/roll with little to no lore (just the name tells it's actually magic / "special"). My view on those...
+ Very simple to understand, no added text description / special mechanic.
+ Rarity = power means easy to scale and player can really feel the "powerup" when getting better equipment.
+ Generic means it's easy enough to have it "drop" as loot without further explanation or context (if heroes can use magic weapons, why would sufficiently rich/adept enemies use them too?).
+ Generic means when you have several you can choose weapon first because you like the style or type for narrative/mechanical reasons.
- Feels very bland, like it's just like you went over a legendary blacksmith instead of local village's one.
- Feels kinda gamey (possibly a bit immersion-breaking), especially when you trade "Ice Sword +1" by "Ice Sword +2".
- If one wants to "cover" all weapons for all rarity, unless you actually separate the bonuses themselves from weapons/armor cards, it's basically a cross product that can easily end in hundreds of cards...
2/ "Unique" weapons, meaning it will be rare to come upon them but each feels unique and has a specific bonus: typically elemental enchanted weapons like Fiery Sword - setting things on fire - or Ice Spear - icicle projection - , Hurtflurry Fists (special mechanic providing several unarmed attacks), etc...
My view on those
+ Feels very cool because each equipment would have a bit of lore at

Iβm talking to the mods and the people frequenting, Iβm nervous this is teetering on becoming like r/collapse with people just complaining about our lives and fear mongering the future. Some threads are about solutions and others are about venting about how everything will keep getting shitty. Yes our lives and jobs suck currently, but look at how many of us there are subscribed and feel the same way. We need to start talking about actual change and goals or nothing will ever change. Anyways thatβs just my 2 cents.
Sweet elderly lady, I'm doing a standard wound vac change.
Her: Oh wow, you're very good at that! The other nurse that was here last week was having some trouble with that.
Me: Oh, thank you ma'am. I'm actually ambidextrous, so that helps a lot.
Her: Oh is that right? How wonderful, good for you! I actually have a grandson who's bisexual!
YGO has had a resurgence in popularity. Whether they have only experience Duelist Kingdom era or quit when Pendulums came out, lots of people are wanting to experience YGO again and are giving the new game a shot.
We have all seen plenty of post in the last few days talking about how much the game has changed since the "old days" and how everything is too complicated now. A lot of these are just memes and are a good laugh, but some people are being genuine when they say the game is too much for them now. Everyone wants to play YGO like when they were a kid but your playground YGO was nowhere close to how the game was actually being played 20 years ago.
I've tried explaining the new mechanics to some friends of mine that are returning to the game, but they always respond with things like "I don't have time to read an entire essay for each card" or "I don't want to wait half an hour for my opponent to finish their turn activating every effect." It comes across as stubbornness, and I don't want this to come across as another "yugiboomer" hate thread but instead to let people know that this is just how the game plays now. It is completely okay if you don't think it's fun, just don't go around telling others that they shouldn't enjoy this "new" and "complicated" YGO.
If you really want to experience "old school" YGO, then try out GOAT format. You can always find people that are willing to play the game how it was being played close to 20 years ago. Just be warned that even though it uses cards from around 2005 and before, it still won't be close to how you played it with your friends during recess.
> "His heavy brocaded robes were gone, and about him, from head to foot, were blinding coils of pure white fire, in the form of linked chains. She could not endure the brilliance of the chains, and cowering back, she shielded her eyes with her hands. When she dared to look again, the weird glowing had faded, the room was as usual; and Milwarp's motionless figure was seated at the table in the posture of writing." - Clark Ashton Smith, The Chain of Aforgomon.
A phone call, in the dead of night. A stranger who knows things about you that you've never told anyone. A fire, illuminating the dark of night. Thus begins Ages Unwound, a fan-made campaign for Arkham Horror: The Card Game for 1-4 players!
Ages Unwound opens with an attempt on your life. What you did to piss off the Sheldon gang is anyone's guess, but now they're out for blood, pursuing you through the night. It might be wise not to stay in one place for too long...
It's not all doom and gloom and men with tommy guns pursuing you down alleyways, though. Some ally seems to be looking out for you, at least for now. But how much can you trust this strange assistance?
Your investigation soon uncovers a shady organisation known only as the Myriad working behind the scenes. The Myriad are powerful and dangerous, but if you don't stand in their way, reality perishes. And if you do, well... you might not like where you end up.
Or when you end up.
You can play this campaign on Tabletop Simulator following this link and the instructions there.
This is a passion project I've been working on for a couple of years now, and I'm really stoked to be putting it out there into the world. I'd love to hear your feedback, criticism, et cetera, and I really hope you enjoy!
Iβve been enjoying Infinite since release. Yes, it gets incredibly frustrating at times. Yes, there are issues that need to be fixed. And yes, youβre allowed to constructively criticize the game so it can be improved.
But it feels like a portion of this community went from on top of the esports world a week and a half ago to wanting to quit the game until itβs fixed.
Why is everyone in a rush and expecting this game to be perfect? Weβre a month into the games life cycle and itβs the least productive time of the year with the holidays. Have some patience, the game will continue to improve and evolve as we go. Letβs not throw the baby out with the bath water and swear the game off just yet.
P.s. also funny how the players who have complained the least and grinded the most (i.e. Lucid, Renegade, Falcated, etc) are all popping off.
