(1.12) Any mods out there that encourage using other types of power generation instead of just spamming solar pannels and geothermal generators?

Edit: Everyone who's suggesting mods that add new power generation methods: thanks, but it's not what im after. Im after a mod that encourages using multiple power systems out of the ones my pack currently has (ic2 classic, themal expansion, extra utilities 2, gregtech classic)

Im basically looking for a mod that rewards you for using various different types of power generation, since there's little to no incentive to use anything other than lava and solar in my modpack at the moment.

Maybe something like machines that have less than 10 of their type placed gain a +50% energy boost

Or

For every 3 different types of generators you have running within the vicinity of 16 blocks of oneanother, each machine gets a +50% energy boost (so if you had 9 different types of generators, they'd be getting a +150% energy boost)

Are there any mods out there that do this sort of thing, and if not are there any tools i can use to configure something like this myself.

Doesn't have to be exactly like the ideas i described, just something that incentivises having variety in your power generation, oh and Ideally both EU producing and RF (or FE) producing machines should be affected by this mod (MJ would be cool too but that's not really necessary)

21 Steam Turbine Geothermal Power Plant

Good Day Everyone,

I'm sure by now everyone has built something where they hit the point that they realize the build they have done has no point in being that elaborate, well, this is mine.

This monstrosity is a 7 stage lead-lag geothermal boiler.

Back story on this puppy, I used to be am HVAC controls tech, meaning the AC/heating in a big commercial building, well I was the guy who made the program to make it work, I did the automation logic and the graphics, troubleshooting, all that jazz. I no longer do this but automation is still something that interests me so I decided to make something that a real world engineer would spec out, and this is what I made.

Lead lag is typically defined as "You fail, I take over", but in this case it's "you can't keep up, I take over" but generally also alternates which leads and which lags for equal wear on the pump/fan/whatever piece of equipment we're playing with, turbines in this case.

So how does it all work, well there were 7 smart batteries acting as the demand, power levels drop turn on 3 turbines, system still can't catch up, turn on 3 more and so on until all 21 were on (spoiler, they never all turned on at one time).

Initially I wanted 8 stages, 3 signal distributors per stage but I didn't plan ahead and had vacuumed out the space LONG before I was ready to start building this monstrosity, it took several hundred cycles to complete (diamond shortage didn't help), so after I already had the water locks in place I counted and found I had enough room for 21, so I cut out 1 stage (thankfully).

Now I know what you're thinking "this is exactly what debug/sandbox mode is for, figuring out stuff like this", NOPE! All in survival. The automation took between 200 and 300 cycles to figure out the little nuances, like each logic gate adding a very slight delay to the signal, causing stages to get skipped, or not change properly, or count in a weird way (jump from stage 4 to 7 to 5 to 6 to 1....no bueno)

This is an abandoned colony (stopped playing it about 2 weeks before the DLC launch back in December, this was done on a early access DLC map). I just checked on the age of the steam turbines to see how long this has been up and running and it's somewhere around 650-800 cycles, the colony is at cycle 2450, so it was already well established long before this started. The lower chamber has a atmo sensor to close a door to seal the bottom incase of a steam/petroleum/anything that could vaporize to continue to have s

How to get constant power output from Geothermal Geysers with batteries?

Usually I hook up all the geysers at some point and just live with the power going up and down a little. In the Wiki it says you can get a flat average power output using batteries, like instead of 200-600MW you get the average 400MW at all times (on a pure geyser).

But I can't seem to figure it out logically. Is anyone doing this?
How do I set it up?

Thanks for any help.

President of El Salvador says they plan to increase geothermal production to power Bitcoin City

President Nayib Bukele has communicated that there is enough geothermal energy to supply Bitcoin City.

The President of El Salvado r Nayib Bukele, released more details about the modern city that will be supplied with geothermal energy, the innovative project called Bitcoin City, information released in a government press release on January 9, 2022.The production of geothermal energy will be under the supervision of the Salvadoran company LaGeo , which has two power plants, one in AhuachapΓ‘n and the other in UsulutΓ‘n.

"We have dug new wells and we plan to increase our geothermal production," highlighted the Latin American mandate, noting that a total of four wells are on the way to contribute to production.

One of the wells that has made the most progress in the consolidation process has the capacity to provide 95 megawatts (MW) " of clean, cheap and renewable energy, from a source that will last for at least a couple of million years," said the President. Nayib Bukele.

According to the statement, the surpluses that can be obtained with these wells will be oriented for the mining of Bitcoin and thus be able to add more development of cryptocurrencies to circulate in the ecosystem

β€œ... We have a 90% probability of finding a well (with the capacity) to (contribute) at least 42 MW. Enough to provide energy to the entire Bitcoin City ”, explained the head of state.

Lower core energy due to geothermal power?

hi askscience

smooth brain here, i'm wondering if there's any risk of the core of our planet cooling down due to geothermal power?

i don't know if that question is on par with "solar energy will suck power from the sun" but if all our energy needs now and forever were powered by geothermal energy; would that in any way affect our core's temperature?

Help understanding geothermal power plant energy output.

So I am comparing mutliple geothermal power plants with other green energy options for a project, and I have most of my other values for power generated in kilowatt/hour. However when researching currect and in progress geothermal plants, a flat MG value is given. (ex: "The net installed capacity of the plant will be 26 megawatts" or "The well is implied to yield 15 – 25 MW"). Is this amount of MG per hour, day, year, or something else entirely? Any help would be appreciated.
