General Catalogue of Variable Stars Puns

okay, i've waited as long as i can to test and review these - the newest scents added to fantome's general catalogue! all fantome's scents are permanent additions, never limited editions, but some are released as themed collections, and some are not...this release seems to be the latter, although maybe there is a thread tying them together that i'm not aware of!

i ordered my samples in oil format - i own oils and edps from them, and like both. the oils perform really well for me, and i also think the scent longevity and potency of the EDPs is stellar - as with all perfume things, though, YMMV.

the new oil sample bottles are such an upgrade! the long, traditional "imp"-style bottles looked very nice as well, but i find the little rollers to be both attractive and functional...i wouldn't feel comfortable tossing an imp into my purse, but these seem very secure and would be absolutely perfect as travel scents or for day-to-day reapplication on the go.

anyway - onto the reviews! this is a varied collection, lots of different scent profiles on display.

🏜️ coyoacán

desert wind, sweet nectar, cool stone, mexican vanilla, creosote, hibiscus, sage

this is probably my most anticipated scent of the release, and it's actually the one i tested last (listed here first, though, because of the alphabet and all). it was worth the wait! strong, camphorous sage and vanilla are at the forefront - herbal and lightly sweet. there's a note in it that is very familiar to me, but i cannot place it, almost like a "book pages" note. actually, i think it smells very similar to what i recognize from many of poesie's book/library scents, although where it is coming from, i cannot say. the overall effect is beautiful, if familiar to me in some ways...could i also possibly be smelling the creosote, something i smell each and every single day in my own yard? that could be it, too, and i think it is - i actually scurried outside to crush a few creosote leaves between my fingers, and yes, it is accurate. there is definitely a hot element to this scent, and i can attest to the fact that it is reminiscent of desert wind. there is sweetness to this blend, but i can't pair it with something i recognize or compare it, i just perceive it as inoffensively and pleasantly sweet, like simple syrup. i found myself coming back to this one again and again after testing, just to enjoy it a bit more. as a desert dweller and big fan of this scent, it has definitely earned a place among my

So as a parent, I prefer vaping over rolling up or the view of actual cigarettes/rillos etc. To me there's just a stigma I feel I don't want my children seeing me with one in my mouth and and the cons of continuously lit etc (assuming most folks here are here cuz they have pros for vaping)

There are tons of claims out there that vaping is bad, and all the whole news issues of folks having issues when vaping. My assumption is that it's a lack of knowledge and lack of 'vaping with care'. But for every con, there's 2 pros.

Anyone with insights? Folks that are against vaping just have claims and not much experience with vaping nor any real claims aside from "cuz the chemicals" In which thats a braod and loaded statement.

Hi all! I'm a Computer Scientist and I've always thought Astronomy was really cool but haven't really engaged with the discipline in any substantial way, hence why I'm here to ask for pointers. I have had an idea to create an application that can generate fake but believable (to an amateur) star maps and constellations. The idea is to use this for a fictional world to add some background lore (I'm a fantasy nerd).

The way I was planning to approach this was get a list of stars that are visible from the earth and get some basic stats out, mainly the distribution of star brightness. Then I would randomly generate a star map with a similar spread of intensities, but at randomised locations. That would be the first part. For the second part, the constellations, I wanted to get some data on real constellations such as the average number of stars in a constellation, the average intensity of stars in constellations etc, and then create an algorithm that makes up constellations for the aforementioned randomly generated star map.

However, I've come across a fair few problems with getting the information I need. To start with, all lists of stars I seem to be able to find online are either shortlists ("50 brightest stars" etc), or full extensive lists of all observed stars in the universe. I can't seem to find the sweet spot of just visible stars, and with the kind of information a newbie like me would be able to understand. What's more, when I check the Wikipedia pages of various constellations, it seems to list tons more stars than those in the base "lines" of the constellation, which is what I am interested in. Do you know any good sources for the basic info of stars in constellations? I would especially be interested in any studies that focus on constellations named/assigned (sorry, not sure of the right term) before the industrial revolution.

Hi everyone!! I’m new to the indie perfume scene (and perfume in general) and I excitedly decided to order some scents from Black Baccara’s general catalogue sampler set + one FS as my first foray. As some of you might have read in my other comments, I’m really appreciative of the wealth of knowledge that are contained in all the reviews people post in IMAM, and wanted to try to contribute to that. This is my first time writing product reviews, my nose is very inexperienced at picking out scents, and I have a huge tendency to ramble, so sorry if these aren’t that good!!!

Before I begin, just some overall cons and pros about my experience/the perfumes.

Cons: Longevity is on the lower side (as compared to perfume samples from other houses I am slowly making my way through) though putting them on after lotion does help and I’m hoping this will improve upon age, and the sample sizes are also on the smaller side (again, just compared to other houses), but of course are still big enough to get enough uses out of them that you can tell if you like it or not, and I personally found the tins that are used for the sampler sets to be kinda hard to open (but that’s probably a me thing, I’m very clumsy and sometimes still need help opening bottles).

Pros: Easy to use website (with master fragrance list that separates GC from LE scents), I like how their descriptions have both a lengthier poetic description but also a pared down simplistic bolded version at the top, and very reasonable TAT/shipping considering where I am in relation to their base (everything arrived within one week), and secure packaging! Of note, instead of slipping it into the mailbox where it would clearly fit and be safe, the deliverer THREW IT OVER THE SIDE GATE where only big packages too big to fit in the mailbox should go, despite the fact that BB uses a package that says ‘delicate/fragile’ in big bold red letters (Like….really, my guy?), but everything was safe and sound when I opened it up, nary even a scratch.

It's the 110th Anniversary, so it should be worthwhile. There will be several keynote speakers and other events happening throughout the weekend. Could anybody maybe explain why this might be. Don't get me wrong I know that this game is only developed by very few people and it's a massive project but it just crossed my mind while playing, or perhaps these subcategory spectral type can be procedurally generated in a future version as I find it quite interesting to have a variety of subcategories of star types rather than just main sequence, subgiant and a few giant stars or maybe it's because this subcategory if star is rare or not yet understood. Anyway good luck to the developers and I give you my greatest gratitude for making this game possible.

I’m curious on your guys thoughts of the “game” and where it went wrong. So I’ve got a few questions to ask.

Do you believe the “game” is a scam or do you believe that they’ve just over promised on what’s possible?

Do you believe that the “game” will ever be in a releasable state or will development continue on indefinitely?

Do you believe that CIG is actually working hard towards release and are just in over there heads or that they are purposely slowing development to gather more funding?

Personally I believe that SC has a chance to become a good game in the next 3-5 years and my main issue with CIG is the way they market Star Citizen as it’s a finished product.
