A list of puns related to "GMT400"
Will a suburban Y-pipe fit in a k1500. Both are 4x4 5.7 non vortec.
I am wondering how many use their trucks as daily drivers. I got a family truck a few months back and I really enjoy driving it. I also have a Jeep Cherokee that I want to get rid of to get some extra money.
Itβs an β88 with 86k miles. Should I sell and just drive this around? For longer trips, I usually take my wifeβs sedan.
Hello everyone, I am new to the gmt400 platform but I just picked up a 1999 GMC k2500 and I was just wondering what are the common issues these trucks have.
Somebody suggested that I consider carb swapping it. Is this necessary?
My plans for the truck are to restore it, freshen up the engine, lift it 4-6 inches and put some 22x14 wheels on it.
Any input is greatly appreciated.
Vehicle: 1995 Chevy C2500
Engine/Trans: 350 TBI, 4L80E
Sound: From up front it sounds like whispering 'shhhh'
My ideas as to what may be:
Has anyone else experienced a sound like this before? Do you think it may be one of my guesses, or perhaps it may be something different all together? Oil was changed 1.5k miles ago. I'm hoping someone can give me some pointers on how to diagnose. Much appreciated!
Ill try to make this short & simple. I find myself growing increasingly towards needing a little bit bigger tow pig than my 99 K1500 LT supplies. As a family of 6 with talks of a 5th child, a truck would be pointless. So, I find myself occasionally looking around at K2500 Suburbans. Id rather stick to a gasser, & in that regard....what is more capable in terms of generation? Should I stick to OBS or instead go for the GMT800? To give insight, here in NC the 400's are hard to find & have a tendency to be "overpriced" for their conditions. 800's are a little more common & fair priced. Despite price, I would prefer my choice be the more reliable one.....in yalls opinions what would you go with? (Don't shoot me for asking here please).
Was diagnosing and fixing my lack of cold AC and I ran my air without the heater core air box cover on, and the rest of the covers on, and I could feel the air blowing through the heater core after going through the AC condenser first. Is this supposed to happen or should there be a door that closes off the heater core when the AC is set to cold?
This may seem ridiculous to most people, but Im going to need more second row legroom. Im a tall guy, and my kids are big, too. Ive had a bunch of cars, but Im looking at GMT400 Suburbans. Ive found a couple of well taken care of trucks, but haven't pulled the trigger just yet.
For the size of these trucks they dont have much room in the second row. They certainly have room behind them to give up. Just curious if anyone has made/sold brackets to push the second row back?
I have not seen any $7-12K offerings in the last few months. I have looked at a couple 3-4K 4x4s, am I right in assuming this is the lowest tier of GMT400 and they don't all look like this (WHEN YOU GET UP CLOSE)? Bluntly these look like cars that an HOA would not allow to be visible from the street. All work/mud trucks. Do nice GMT400s not exist much anymore? The trucks I looked at looked ok in pictures online, just totally underwhelming in person. Would it be more viable to buy something like a 2WD suburban or wrecked truck with nice interior then swap the seats, buy new carpet, dash (LMC) into a beat 4x4? I really want either an extended cab truck or a suburban with a TBI.
*Yesterday I looked at a 4x4 94 suburban at a rip jip dealer that wanted 3,995 (originally 4,995!) for a "1 owner suburban with 180K miles". Pictures online looked great. It was roached. Every seat was ripped, engine bay was a mass of hoses repaired with tape, concrete stuck to fender wells, every light/accent cracked (did somebody shoot it with a BB gun?). The only positive thing to say is only 1 tiny dent, ran ok (shook a little at idle), no rust. Would I be crazy to think that that would be a 2.5-3K truck in a private sale?
Can someone please shed some light on what's where to locate the engine ground by mine is gone and I can't tell or see where the bolt is that hold the ground to the back of the block
Picket up "Ruby" Friday. They say the time to buy your dream spec truck is when you find it. After over 3 years of searching, this one dropped in my lap just a couple miles up the road and I couldn't pass it up. I was literally 30 minutes away from missing out on this beauty as another buyer was in route. 163,000 unmolested miles. It's an LS Trim level but it's still not lacking much in the way of creature comforts. I won't bore any of you with all the details, but this dream spec beauty will serve the Ranch very well. And I'm in the Rust Belt here in Indiana!

I got a 1988 K2500 Silverado that has seats from a '96 in it. Theyre the two individual seats with a center console between them. I hate them a lot. Would a 60/40 bench for the 88-91 years bolt right in? I know the console has to go, and I couldnt care less tbh. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
Hi all,
I posted my pickup that I restored last year in here just recently. Some folks asked me for some more pictures of the story. Everything you see is what I taught myself as I could barely change oil before this lol
For the record I live in Pittsburgh, PA and I took a road trip the Spartanburg, SC for a frame/fenders/anything I needed
Appreciate any/all feedback.
Thanks!
