First off, if you are unsure of what the Dove Awards are, they're like the Christian VMA's; focusing on mainstream Christian music. I've been a non believer for about 3 years now and honestly dealing with everything that comes with Christianity is getting terribly old; dealing with all of it on a daily basis isn't helping. The phrases, the politics, the attitudes. I'm just worn out; the Dove Awards reminded me of all of that. I remember one of the final songs before Reba Mcentire (Yes, THE Reba, haha) got up to sing, seeing everyone so into the worship, raising their hands like this was their Mecca; the height of their worship experience. It was kind of sad, I think that's kind of where I've come to at this point when viewing religions, they have every right to believe what they want and I have many Christian friends whom I agree with on a lot of issues. I honestly just feel bad for the people who are too afraid to ask the hard questions and allow themselves to hear the hard answers. I just want them to reach out and search for things the way I have and to feel the freedom that comes with it. I don't know, just food for thought. TL;DR Big Christian events just make me sad now. Rather than angry.
