The kitten was covered in dried blood when I found her. Barely the size of my hand, the trembling thing tottered its way toward me in fits and stops. She moved like a broken wind-up toy.

It had been years since I had a farm cat, so the appearance of the mewing trespasser was a mystery. The farm was far enough from town that I never saw a stray animal; there were just too many predators between me and civilization. Someone must have dumped a pregnant female near the farm, I thought.

I searched for others in the litter while holding the shaking kitten under my arm. The cat had been living under a half-empty grain bag, and the mother was nowhere to be seen. Neither were any littermates. Only a bloody circle of dirt with tufts of fur and bits of bone let me know that a cat had been there.

"Looks like we're on our own," I told the shaking kitten as I placed it under my coat to keep it warm. We were in the first few weeks of fall, and the cold of the north was making its self-known. I crunched my way through the frost to the house and kicked off my boots on the porch.

The kitten cried with every breath. I was sure it needed to eat. I remembered an old conversation about how sheep milk wasn't suitable for cats, so I placed the kitten in my warming box and searched for emergency formula recipes. I found a recipe that I had the ingredients to make and set to work, mixing a can of evaporated milk, egg yolk, and a couple of tablespoons of Karo syrup.

I didn't have a bottle that would work for the kitten, but there were a few syringes around from vaccinating the sheep. I unwrapped a syringe, filled it with the emergency formula, and pulled my little patient from her box.

She took to milk quickly, and I began to wonder where she was putting it all as I filled the syringe over and over with the custard-like formula. After the third syringe, I gently squeezed the kitten's tummy, but it didn't feel full. I continued feeding her, and I studied her as she ate.

The kitten's paws were massive for its size, almost clownish and every paw had a sixth toe. Most of the kitten's coat was matted with blood, but rich chocolate fur was partially visible on her tummy. I smiled as I watched the kitten’s sapphire eyes droop contentedly. Then I noticed her teeth.

An extra set of canines protruded from the top and bottom of the kitten's mouth on both sides. "That's creepy," I said as I laid her in the cardboard box. "You're a creepy little kitty," I singsong to her as I rubbed h

Danger Zone!

There are jitters along every inch of his scales and he can’t keep the smile off his face. Today was the day. This was it. The prototypes were finished, the training was as thorough both in as out of the VR pods.

“Red Two, Contrail, here to be counted!” A little raspy due to being punished for disobedience when Big Momma had her hooks in him, Contrail was happiest high up and soaring. One of the four Trets on the team he had to do something to stand out.

“Here is Red Three, Velocity.” For how stern the man could be and how stoic he normally acted. He was kind of crazy when he got his finger on an accelerator. Mostly in that he wouldn’t take it off the accelerator for the life of him. A Tret as well he kept his head bald and shiny.

“Red Four Manic!” From a basso lounge singer being passed around as a trophy under the families to the man who could NOT stop pulling stupid stunts, crashed two of the prototypes by himself he did, Manic’s life had changed a great deal. And if the smile was any indication, for the better. He had the kind of casual grace that no one else could match, he had gotten by by being seductive and intoxicating to the women around him. Now, he was as deadly as he was tempting.

“Red Five Hew2.” Hewhew adds in as his smile widens just a little more. Franklin had brought him in for a family movie night to show him where the designation sign came from. As a result he got himself a blue hued plasma sword in order to complete the setup. Then a green one for when he was in all black.

“Red Six, Double Tap ready and waiting.” One of the fresher recruits of Red Squadron. He made a point of making sure things were super-dead in all simulations. It wasn’t enough for them to be in pieces, the pieces had to be in pieces. He had taken to the training with sidearms the most, the man’s obsession with his gun was growing scary.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

She shook her head and took a deep, shuddering breath. As I walked back around to face her, I stopped when I saw her face. She looked to be on the verge of tears, and there was a desperate, pleading look in her eye. “I just...I…” Her hands balled up into fists and she slammed them against the armrests of the chair. “Dammit, this isn’t how I wanted you to find out!”

“I get that, but that ship has sailed, unfortunately,” I said softly. “What happened?”

She took another breath and turned away from me as she told her story. “A-after the...look we shared, I went and found Shangri-La in the mess hall to talk with her about...you…” Her voice became very quiet, very subdued, and I almost didn’t hear the last two words. “...and me.”

My heart was doing backflips, thundering in my chest. She was entertaining the possibility of a romance with me? I managed to keep a cool, professional exterior and pressed her, albeit gently. “You mean, romantically.”

She nodded, and I thought I heard a sniffle. “A-as we were talking it over...Taihou must have overheard because she came over and s-said ‘As if the Commander could ever love a scarred failure like you…’ and laughed and I just...I just...I snapped.”

Is it just the cold air or have Rhimecaster and The Voice returned to finish what they started long ago!?

ADVENTURE SYNOPSIS

Our adventure starts out in a tavern! (Or other local gathering spot.) Locals and travelers are celebrating the beginning of the twelve days of Nativitas. The town is filled with traveling merchants who are making the rounds selling goods and gifts to the villagers. It is a particularly and unusually cold evening in Tremont. The weather here is balmy even in deep winter. As the festival carries on it begins to snow. Stranger still there are only a few clouds in the sky. The locals become nervous. They know the stories, and fear that Jakob Rhimecaster is coming.

The snow picks up and folks will begin packing up for the evening. Shortly afterward the village is attacked by Goblins and Ogres wielding icy weapons. Villagers flee and merchants attempt to escape. The players will be caught up in the battle. Several of the Ogres will turn their attention toward one Dwarven merchant in particular. They will smash his red vardo and use a strange magical gem on the Dwarf which will appear to drain him of some kind of energy. His gnome assistants will attempt to help him but they will be unsuccessful. The Ogres will then make a break for the forest.

After the battle the Dwarf will be extremely weak and the gnomes will beg the players for help. They will reveal themselves as none other than Julenissen Stonecutter and his team of Weredeer. The players will need to trek out into the forest and get the gem back from the Ogres. Along the way they will have to contend with other minions of the Frosty Fey. Frozen Tooth Goblin “elves”, Ice Mephits, and The Grank, a vicious green yet! Grank. Can they catch up to the Ogres and retrieve the gem before Stonecutter expires? Can they save Nativitas? Will they get presents? That all depends on them

So the Winter season begins and Pure Wonder was the first to be released as the core scent to kick things off. It came out pretty early compared to the Winter sets to come up which was the same time that Gingham Heart of Gold released. So I didn't want to make a picture just for that so I just kind of put them together.

Packaging: Pure Wonder has a pretty interesting bottle with indentations in it that kind of look like a snowflake almost. Beyond that though it's pretty basic, but I like the soft pink. As GHoG, it's kind of like a golden Gingham basically...looks more like an Autumn thing to me.

Scents:

• Pure Wonder (Iced Rose, Star Jasmine, Warm White Amber) - Even though Winter scents still feel kind of new to me, this being the oldest, I've totally forgotten about it. Originally released as a test scent back in 2020, it seemed to get pushed as a core scent and it's definitely got its own unique smell to it. Like I still think it smells a little like dryer sheets, but the star jasmine is the main player here while the rose is adding a sense of champagne-yness to it. I kind of like it, but also can give me a little of a headache if too much is sprayed.
• Gingham Heart of Gold (Crisp Golden Apple, Creamy Vanilla Bean, Warm Sandalwood) - Being as the Christmas special for Gingham, this kind of doesn't smell like it all. Like it's more vanilla and apple and it makes sense with the scent notes. I tend to enjoy the scent whenever I need it around for something, but I think in the grand scheme of things, it's not the most memorable of them.

Overall: (7/10) - I think the first two scents of the season are pretty decent, if not ultimately forgotten by the remaining scents of the year to be honest. I mean Pure Wonder was pushed pretty heavily for a while, but it's not the most intriguing scent for me...though the dryer sheets vibe I can get behind. As for Gingham Heart of Gold, it smells and looks like an Autumn scent more than holidays.

RTX 3080 Review

Before we get into my experience with the RTX 3080 tier (which was provided to me by NVIDIA), I wanted to preface this with a few bits of information. Firstly, I realize I am in a very ideal situation with regards to my datacentre connection and this will vary from user to user. However, from talking to others even at a latency of 40-50ms you shouldn’t notice much at all compared to the priority/founders tier thanks to some very interesting, yet still unknown, behind-the-scenes work done on the improved connection quality. But, for review’s sake I’ve included some stats from a couple of sites – speedtest and fast.com – the latter of which due to some ISPs speeding up speedtest.

The gameplay and tests below were done on Ethernet via USB over powerline on an ASUS Zephyrus M with an i7-8570H and a 1070 Max Q, both on the native 144hz G-Sync screen and a separate ASUS PB278 27" monitor running at 59.97Hz.

I did not cover mobile gameplay for this, as it’s not something I do often.

I’ve set my stream settings to be at 120FPS for the full experience and to test my bandwidth was enough, though let it be noted the testing done was on a 144hz 17” G-Sync laptop screen and a 60hz 27” QHD monitor, both with the above settings. No SHIELD PRO testing was included.

I. New Hero: Wuchen, the Mystic Daoist

Born with the blood of both common mortals and the Heralds flowing within his veins, Wuchen was once scorned for his mixed ancestry. II. Map Updates

1. Added new locations 'Breezy Maze' and 'Dragonspine Yard', and some other architectures and natural landscapes.

III. Limited-time mode [Shadow Surge] returns

Available from 01/24/2022 20:00 (UTC) until 02/03/2022, 20:00 (UTC).

The Shadow Surge mode is back again for a limited time, with the following updates:

1. Increased the number of Soul Altars on the map.

2. Players now start with 2 different random melee weapons, instead of 6 as in the previous version.

3. When players are defeated, Soulbloom Essence will be dropped into their Cairns left behind (as in The Herald's Trial).

IV. Limited-time mode [Eternal Blazes] returns

Available from 02/03/2022 20:00 (UTC) until 02/13/2022, 20:00 (UTC).

Along with Shadow Surge, Eternal Blazes mode is back again for a limited time, with the following updates:

1. Players can now revive faster.

2. Players are now given Pistols, Bows, Cannons, Repeating Crossbows and Muskets instead of receiving 3 random ranged weapons, as in the previous version.

3. Players will get a certain amount of Dark Tide Coins when using different weapons to defeat enemies.

4. The price of souljades and weapons from Rift Dealers are now priced according to their strength.

5. The maximum party size has been adjusted from 2 to 3 players.

6. Reduced the map size of the battle area.

I. Map Updates

Added the new area, 'Barren Pit', along with several other new structures and natural features to the game.

II. In-game Features

1. Bells found around the map will now show on the map when interacted with. If rung, they'll appear as a bell icon upon the mini-map to mark all surviving enemies within an 80m radius (each bell can only be rung 3 times, with 180 sec cooldown between each ring).
2. Added Wishing Well mechanism. Cast an item into one, and you'll receive another item in its place (each Wishing Well can only be used 3 times).

III. Preparation Stage

Event Time: 12/23/2021 Update to 01/05/2022 20:00 (UTC)

During the Christmas, we have prepared a big Christmas tree and a large number of gift boxes for players in the preparation phase of the match. Shake it and there will be a surprise awaiting you!

Gameplay Info:

As another new year arrives, the Nian beast appears within our world. Those hunting for fortune shall ready their ranged weapons, and strive to become the Warrior of Fortune.

Only ranged weapons can be used in this gameplay.

Defeat as many enemies as possible within the time limit to rack up points.

At set intervals, the top two players will become the bounty targets: kill them to gain more points.

You're given three random ranged weapons each time you spawn.

Added new snowy Souljades for Cannon and Flamebringer.

Upon defeating an enemy you'll gain Dark Tide Coins. Spend these on Souljades, weapons and supplies from Rift Dealers.

Gold Eggs can be found across the map, a free source of advanced Souljades and weapons. You retain any Souljades and Dark Tide Coins gained.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

This is an exercise where we enter a team into the official Fantasy Premier League competition together, with every decision being made as a group. Over the last week, we activated our first wildcard and rebuilt the team from scratch. After a late Covid curveball with the announcement of 2 games in GW19 being postponed, we have finally finalised our squad. In the final changes polls this morning, the community voted to switch out Salah and King for Gallagher and Ronaldo, while keeping Jota and Dias in the squad.

Yet another game was called off today (Everton v Burnley) however we don't have any players from either side so are luckily unaffected by this late change.

Thank you for all the comments and discussions over the last 5 days and helping us to finalise the team before Christmas Day, we appreciate that the flurry of double posts per day was a lot to keep up with.
