I've been seeing a lot of 'travel hacks' ads on sydney transport lately, and I'm actually wondering if your employer/company has adopted flexible working arrangements, or if people are changing their work hours to avoid peak traffic.
I can't help but be a bit cynical about a lot of these 'hacks', it feels like the government addressing major congestion issues with solutions that aren't feasible for the average worker, things like "Travel hack #56: I check my emails from home in the morning, so that I can come into work later", my boss would have a good laugh before firing me, or having an extra curricular activity after work, assuming a standard work day finishes at 5, you'd have to spend over an hour before crowds start to clear at 6:30-7 in the cbd.
Can we put more pressure on our employers to provide more flexible arrangements? A lot of what I'm reading says that we will have to change some things in society very soon. How do we push for this from the bottom up?
Just wondering what type of flexible work Arrangements exist out there? Returning to work soon and I'm trying to determine hours of work etcetera. I've done compressed work weeks before but other other types of flexible work Arrangements? Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated since I don't find something that's really discussed a lot. I'm just probably out of the loop LOL
Hi Redditors, sorry for the repost. But you guys know, not only winter is coming ... also deadlines.
This survey is of course anonymous and will be used solely to check the validity of a conceptual model. So every survey result helps a lot.

Are you a computer science student, or amateur/hobbyist programmer? Do you want to make some extra money using these skills, with a flexible schedule?
If so, I'd like to try to connect you with the software development market. I'll be paying in Bitcoin, so geography isn't an issue. Somewhere between the $10/hr of unskilled labor and the $50/hr for professional work, I can provide you with some extra money, while providing a client with a product built at or below market price.
I would do the legwork of hunting down clients and projects. You'll let me know what you're good at, and can choose to work on whichever projects I send your way. Possibly with the help of more coordinators, I'd break the projects into chunks and offer each chunk to capable workers. Each piece of work would be arranged as a separate contracting agreement, something that is particularly easy to do with Bitcoin.
I'll track clients, projects, and workers. I'll send as much work as I can to workers who produce good work and can communicate professionally.
If you're a CS student or amateur/hobbyist programmer who occasionally has some free time and could use some extra money, please contact me with a brief summary of your skills. Even if you only sometimes have time, or if you only have a small subset of skills. If you want to help with coordination, mention that as well.
Even with just a work force of a few students, I'll start hunting down the work. Let's see what we can do!
I'm looking for participants to complete a 5-10min survey about flexible working arrangements (e.g. having modifications to when or where you complete work), but you can participate if you've never had a flexible working arrangement. To participate you just need to be: over 18, living in Australia, and currently, or previously employed. Also you can go into the draw to win a $100 Coles Myer voucher. For more info and to participate go to: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/work-flexible
Disclaimer: I recently graduated from college and have been working for a little less than a year. I'm asking this question out of genuine curiosity, so please give me the cold, hard truth.
I currently work a 8-5 job as a proposal writer. Most of my job entails researching a topic for a proposal my company wants to submit, meeting a few times with my supervisor to discuss direction, and then writing the actual proposal. In my opinion, 95% of my work can be done from home. However, my boss is adamant about not allowing me to telecommute for work. I understand the need to be in the office for meetings, but I don't see any downsides of me working from home as long as I get the work done on time and before the deadline.
I understand that I currently can't be too picky about jobs since I have very little experience. But, I was wondering how common are jobs with flexible work arrangements (liberal telecommuting policies, flex hours/core hours, leave of absence etc.)? If I bring up the fact that flexible work arrangements are very important to me when interviewing, will that make me seem like a lazy worker? Thanks!
Hi All,
Especially in light of recent events flexible working has become increasingly important due to the Coronavirus putting entire countries on lockdown. I am currently conducting a survey about the importance of flexible working arrangements for students and recent graduates in the UK and would be very grateful if you could spare 5 minutes to participate in my survey.
Thank you very much for your help!!
