New boss mobs and then fires admin. Major systems go downhill and boss is in hot water.
[Crossposted to /r/MaliciousCompliance and r/talesfromtechsupport and /r/sysadmin on advise from my readers. Or not. This is a new account, and it seems crossposting was denied]
[This happened about a year ago, i have a new job now. Still, i made a throwaway account to protect people involved. Mostly i made it to protect me. If my former boss burns in hell due to this, well, i'm ok with that and at least he will be able to afford the heating bill.]
So, i worked for this multinational company for over a decade as a system administrator. My responsibility was in the area of manufacturing, mostly for central systems that work on data flow between the manufacturing systems and the ERP system in near-real-time.
Even though the company had lots of cash for stupid projects, IT budget was always too tight for those expensive, customized data munching systems. So, shortly after starting to work at the company, i started implementing my own (i'm also an experienced software developer, one of the reason my original boss hired me).
I won't go into too much detail, but i decided to make the stuff web based for easier deployment of updates. It worked great, and over time more and more functions got ported into this easy to enhance/easy to update system. Partly new stuff, partly decades-old software that was in dire need of replacement. After about a decade, this system was rather central to the manufacturing process in many ways, and yes, there were hot-standby servers, multiple backups each day and so on.
Due to the severe budget constraints, i'm allowed to use open source software for my database. I'm also allowed to use my own open source web system as the base for it all and keep it open source (except for some small, selected parts that are company specific). I'm pleased about that, because, essentially, the company is paying me to progress my open source project while getting a friendly, reliable system for me to use at work.
I always had the support of my varying bosses over the years (we change middle managment a lot). In comes another new boss. In the first ever talk we have, he complains that the software is written in [programming_language] because thats "so outdated". I tell him its actively developed and used by a number of Fortune500 companies for their backend and/or frontend systems. He's not happy. He also asks me how i do all the paperwork for the project and how my former boss

EM pulls fire alarm in crowded indoor water park and hurls a cake at security
Hello everyone, I worked for a few years as a Front Desk Supervisor at a hotel attached to an indoor water park. I have lots of stories involving EPβs, EKβs, and tons of crazies, but this entitled mom (EM) was one of the worst. I didnβt deal with her personally, but I had to deal with her aftermath, and the head of security and the water park told me the whole story. TK stands for traumatized kid, WP stands for Water Park.
It was the dead of winter (late February), and due to freezing cold the indoor water park attracted lots of families. It was a packed Saturday, but after the check-in rush the lobby was a ghost town. I was working the front desk alone, shooting the shit with the security guards when a call came over the radio from the WP. Our Head of Security (weβll call him Don) was a stocky bear of a guy, and the king of calm authority. He could look at a rowdy group and theyβd stop cold, but he knew how to handle himself if they didnβt. He calmly walked down the hall to the WP, rookie security guard in tow, and I waited for them to come back with the story.
They were gone less than 10 minutes, and the fire alarm starts blaring. I hear Don yell over the radio it was a false alarm, and to bring the shuttles around to pick up water park guests, and my heart sank. It was past 10pm, and at least -10 degrees outside, and a whole bunch of soaking wet people must have walked out into the cold, not to mention a horde of angry guests upstairs. Thankfully, the alarm was diffused quickly, and we caught most people from leaving the lobby, and the shuttles circled the building to intercept any guests who went outside with warm blankets. After a bit, Don and the Rookie returned. The rookie was splattered with cake, and holding a bandage on his hand, and Don dives into the story.
Entitled Mom (EM) was hosting her 8-yr-oldβs (TKβs) birthday in the WP. Our catered birthday package included cake, pizza, and all-day WP passes for the party guests. EM took that as βyou can watch my kidβ, and spent the day harassing the lifeguards to bring her fresh towels and drinks, claiming too many seats for her friends, and generally ignoring her daughter.
The trouble really started around 10pm, because the restaurant and bar closed, and EM suddenly wanted to go home. She couldnβt see her daughter (it was a large park), so EM started screaming and cussing loudly for her to get out of the water. Lifeguards tried to quiet her down, but she angrily pushed past them, threateni

With Earth, Water, Fire, and Air, what would you put into the list of classic elements/elemental powers?
I'm trying to come up with 12 and I'm stuck. I want them each to be their own seperate force, but I don't want too much all stuffed into one category.
Example - would you have Ice as its own element? Or is it a subsection of Water?
Same with Electricity/Lightning. Is it its own or a part of Air?
I have a few strange ideas. One being the element Blood. Representing family, loyalty, strength, and war. As an element you can manipulate, it would make the user able to zap someone's strength, increase their own, and even control someone's body (but not their mind).
Other unusual elements I'm wanting to add are Mind, Void, Spirit, Time, and Nature. Would Nature just be a subsection of Earth? Are Time and Void the same thing? (As Void in this case is about the unknown and outer space etc). Would Magic be a viable element? Or are they all magical?
Let me know your thoughts.

I read one time to never use double-walled insulated water bottles (Yeti) and instead opt for non-insulated bottles (Klean Kanteen). If you ever need to boil water, a non-insulated bottle can be used in a fire, and an insulated bottle wonβt work well and burst.
