A list of puns related to "Fair Isle Channel"
I remember stepping off the plane, twenty-some years ago. A young, fresh-faced Canadian girl from a small town near the Rocky Mountains, I had no idea what to expect moving to Ireland. My first impression was to wonder why all the buildings were squished together! Once I got used to that, I took to living in Dublin like a duck to water. Although it took me a while to understand the Dublin accent, longer to figure out Cork and longer still to understand Kerry. And don't get me started on Tipperary! :D
Speaking of counties, Iβve been all over Ireland. Down south to Cork and Kerry, visiting the beautiful coast and taking in the typical tourist places. I took a tour of the Ring of Kerry where I lucked out and got a beautiful day. Iβve been over to Galway, Connemara and the Burren, where I always bring family who visit me because itβs unlike anything we see in Canada. Iβve taken a boat from Athlone and travelled the Shannon. You should all visit Clonmacnoise and stay the night. The awe inspired by a night sky untouched by light pollution is indescribable. It changed my life.
I think Iβve visited, or at least set foot in nearly every county except Donegal. I canβt quite figure out the train schedule. Iβm told itβs the most beautiful county in Ireland and after everything Iβve seen, that sure is saying something! If anyone wants to take a road trip and invite me along, you donβt have to ask me twice!
Ireland, you and I tied the knot in 2008, when I took my oath of citizenship in a tiny courtroom in Temple Bar. I promised my fidelity to the Irish nation and loyalty to the State. Iβve kept that promise, easily.
Now, as an indigenous Canadian, I feel a deep affinity with Ireland and the Irish people. Our ancestors have a shared history of mistreatment by colonizers and conquerors. Although our 200 years may seem paltry next to your 800, we both have had to deal with the multi-generational effects of the respective atrocities carried out against us. The biggest difference between us is that your rebellions succeeded, where ours did not. The cultural genocide against Canadaβs indigenous is still happening.
Despite my complicated feelings about Canada because of my indigenous heritage, I do love my homeland. And I love my chosen home as well. Ireland; what a wonderful, wild, vibrant, beautiful, diverse and fascinating land. Full of intriguing places and fantastic people. Iβll stay for another twenty some years if youβll have me. And if you wonβt, well too bad. Y

Hello everyone,
I want to give Fair Isle a try, but I've never done any stranding before. Could anyone recommend a good beginner's pattern?
Iβm knitting the back of a baby sweater and it says to cast off 6 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows, and knit until itβs about 4 inches, bringing it from 65 stitches to 53 stitches (Iβm working the second size). Howeverβ¦when I try to continue working the chart with the live stitches, the colors donβt match up! So Iβm not sure what I should be doing instead? Iβve counted the stitches and there are indeed 53. Itβs knitted flat, too. Thanks for any help. Hope the link works: chart and instructions
Hello,
I have a singer model 155 punchcard knittingmachine.
I would like to be able to knit rows using two colours, but I want to make the pattern manually adjusting the needles each row, rather than using a punchcard.
With my brother 790, I can just move my contrast colour needles into position B and voila, but that doesn't seem to work on this machine.
Anyone know how I can make this happen?
As the title suggests, where is your favorite place to visit.
For me it's where I did the fieldwork for my degree; Trearddur Bay, Holy Island, Anglesey, Wales.
