...that isn't even close to a complete list.
For starters, he also recorded his first 3 albums as a leader -- "Outward Bound," "Out There," and "Far Cry" (the latter album, featuring Booker Little, was released in '62 but recorded in 1960).
...
More classics not listed in the title (cuz I ran out of room). Note that these are only some of the recordings he appeared on, and this list is just studio albums:
"Ole" by John Coltrane
"Jazz Abstractions" by John Lewis and Gunther Schuller
"Straight Ahead" by Abbey Lincoln
"Looking Ahead" by Ken McIntyre
"Charles Mingus Presents Charles Mingus" by...Charles Mingus
"Screamin' the Blues" and "Straight Ahead" by Oliver Nelson
...
Again, those are just the cream of the crop. And again, those are just the best of the recordings he played on between 1960 and '61, not a career overview.
During those two years he also appeared on some of the absolute greatest and most revered live jazz recordings ever, including:
"Live! at the Village Vanguard" by John Coltrane
"Mingus at Antibes" by Charles Mingus
"At the Five Spot (Vol. 1 & 2)" by Dolphy
Also, various tracks on the various different versions of Coltrane's 1961 European tour (Dolphy joined the group for part of the tour), PLUS all the tracks on the various different versions of his own Live in Europe releases from his own 1961 European tour.
...
Here's a couple links to some of the live recordings.
"Mingus at Antibes" is easily one of the top 3 live jazz albums ever (obviously that's entirely my opinion), but it's such a knockout. From that concert, 'Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting' (the whole song, and especially Dolphy's solo, are wild and amazing).
From Coltrane's "The Complete 1961 Village Vanguard Recordings," here's a brilliant version of 'Naima'
And from Dolphy's 1961 European tour, released as various different collections, some containing many discs and many hours of music, some containing much less, here's one of my favorite recordings Dolphy ever made: 'The Way You Look Tonight'.
Regarding that last song, I read something from an interview a long time ago -- I wish I knew who said it and that I had the direct quote -- but it was somebody like Mingus, somebody on that level of brilliance. It was definitely a fellow m
... keep reading on reddit β‘I started getting into jazz not long before the /r/jazz Top 100 thread was spawned. The thread sought to get community memberβs top 25 albums and then the number of mentions would determine placement on the top 100. At the time I probably had only ever listened to 40 jazz albums from start to finish. As you can imagine this list was very traditional and very Blue Note heavy. I had a very narrow and very shallow exposure to jazz. Here is the list I posted on that thread:
Since then Iβve listened to hundreds and hundreds of albums. I own over 700 jazz records on vinyl alone. Iβve purchased so many over the past few years that Iβm still working on doing a first listen on a chunk of them. I would say I now have a pretty broad but still very shallow exposure to jazz. Iβve listened to a lot of albums from the 50βs to the 70βs. Not much from the 80βs and more and more as we get closer to the present day. But outside of the 50s-70βs Iβm still coming across so much great stuff every day.
I was curious to see how my list of top-25 would compare to that original list I submitted and itβs pretty radically different. Though I say that with the understanding that if I had to produce a top 25 list 10 days in a row I would have 10 different lists. But as of right this moment I came up with the following. Iβm sure I missed a whack of albums that I desperately love and for some artists (Mingus, Haden, Coleman, Cherry, Sweets, Webster, and others) I could have filled the list with just thei

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat
Do your worst!
Ants donβt even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.
But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.
They were cooked in Greece.
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
Don't you know a good pun is its own reword?
Two muffins are in an oven, one muffin looks at the other and says "is it just me, or is it hot in here?"
Then the other muffin says "AHH, TALKING MUFFIN!!!"
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!

Because she wanted to see the task manager.

Heard they've been doing some shady business.
but then I remembered it was ground this morning.
Edit: Thank you guys for the awards, they're much nicer than the cardboard sleeve I've been using and reassures me that my jokes aren't stale
Edit 2: I have already been made aware that Men In Black 3 has told a version of this joke before. If the joke is not new to you, please enjoy any of the single origin puns in the comments
BamBOO!
Theyβre on standbi
A play on words.
My daughter, Chewbecca, not so much.
Pilot on me!!
How the hell am I suppose to know when itβs raining in Sweden?
Christopher Walken
Nothing, he was gladiator.
Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
Or would that be too forward thinking?
At work, I have a workstation.
edit: cheers u/cheer_up_richard
What did 0 say to 8 ?
