A list of puns related to "Explorative strategies"
Super into boardgames but don't always have the company, looking for something to play that takes longer than playing a boardgames solo
I've realized a very common trend in many/most (hopefully not all) of these games - most of the "exploration" is done through some type of simplified "node and line" layout where you move along specific routes, random battles occasionally take place as you traverse or whatever. (example)
Any games where this isn't the case? Where there's some type of "world" exploration and tactical turn based combat?
Currently reading the mental game of poker after a bad run online. The bad run also opened my eyes to just how naive I really am about poker stats and how I've mainly just won on instinct and bullying previously trying to make quick profits after my early runs (in with 300 out with 2k+ at local casinos 3 times in a row). I think I have a natural talent for the game and have been playing home games ect. for years prior to trying out the casinos. I feel like I make good strategic moves based on the cards I have, but I don't think I am educated enough in the actual statistics when playing the long game. Also just started Super System. What other books do ya'll suggest for playing the long game?
I've just finished another session on "No mans sky" on the PC and was wondering what next? I was thinking of playing Mass Effect again, but I fancy a change and something aesthetically pleasing.
I like open world/space exploration, and RPG, but I also strategy and world building games like Civilization.
Games I like: No mans sky, Civilization, "Star Wars KOTOR", Mass Effect. I need something with a decent story. I'm not really a fan of FPS, but occasional FP stuff is ok.
My current shortlist:
Outer Wilds
Elite Dangerous - apparently the expansion is needed to visit planets?
RDR2 - not sure about this, maybe I should try it.
Please feel free to suggest anything that I might like, thx.
I recently finished some teaser trailers for my space-related 2D game (top-down) and would like to post them in suitable forums and communities. The game is similar to the old Escape Velocity franchise.
So far I got (limited to reddit):
Has somebody else promote / published a game from that genre before and knows some good places to start? Or any ideas in general?
So way back in college I chose software engineering(kind of was pushed to pick a "practical degree" by parents) because for some reason I thought there would be less coding(more on design) compared to computer science and also because employment prospects looked good along with the pay.
I figured that I would just make it through eight hours a day and then spend the off time actually enjoying my life. After about ten years... nope life has been miserable for forty hours a week. I just absolutely despise coding. Even worse was that I felt like I became even more terrible at it over the years after college.
Out of college I have been extremely lucky with Booz Allen and then Northrop Grumman not requiring technical interviews. But any time I began looking at new jobs (especially ones that doesn't require a security clearance which I no longer have), I have to suffer through technical interviews, which make me hate the profession even more. I used to just hate the "oral college exam interviews", but I have recently found out about hackerRank, leetCode, KMT, and take home projects (basically working for free).... which kills my self-worth when I fail and again makes me despise programming even more.
The fact that most commercials jobs are remote now means the pool of competition is even worse because I'm competing against people who live and breath and jack off to coding. I am unable to beat these people. Have been doing the "easy" hackerRank challenges and I'm finding them very challenging still.... even worse is that I'm actually programming in my spare time now.
So here I am currently unemployed and finding out lately that I made a bad career choice especially after finding out how competitive the job market is these day. What's a realistic alternative route I can take to avoid coding, but still use what knowledge I have learned for an easy transition? Something I have learned from briefly mentoring and having other people troubleshoot is that I much rather "debug people" than "debug code."
If "practicality" wasn't a factor, I would just go all out with acting. From the little time I have been able to act either from crappy small indie films, student films, and acting classes/intensives - I have learned that this is the only career I would love and embrace with my life. However with the pandemic still roaming, I don't know about the moving to L.A. thing and trying to make it while unemployed at the moment. At least when I failed an audition I at

A few years ago I had a game on my iphone5c (I'm always way behind on the latest release so that may not be info to work from) that I can't seem to find anymore and I miss it everyday.
Sort of like Into the Breach in style and gameplay. You played as a character in a spacesuit that started at a small base where you could equip items/weapons you had previously collected (and I think possibly purchase others) and when ready to play you enter a tube/portal and get sent to a random "planet". The planet was strategy tile style layout, with fog of war map until you explored further. You would interact with tiles of rocks/holes/crystals and have a choice of aggressive (ex. smash the rock) or passive/friendlier (ex. peer into the hole) actions. But it was kind of a crapshoot for what would be the better choice. Sometimes you'd get hurt or poisoned, sometimes you'd get bonus perks or items. Sometimes you even had a little alien buddy follow you and help out.
You basically were exploring the tile layout to find another portal to take you to another randomized planet and you got to keep the perks and items you had collected so far. If you didn't enter the endstage portal in a certain timeframe, this black shape would start taking over tiles and heading towards you, often sending a faster alien creature ahead of it for you to fight.
Not sure how much more of my rambling would be helpful...um the graphics style was also a bit more sleek and updated than Into the Breach....thanks!
Long time lurker here. Recently decided to get back into options selling after taking a few months break from it. I'll share some resources that I've found useful in getting started with option selling thetagang style. As I get back into it I'm hoping to get some ideas from fellow members.
Quick summary of my background: I learned about option selling with an emphasis on theta decay on a forum I'm a member of in December of 2020. I read several books and went through the Tastytrade course. I started selling options in January 2021 mostly following the Tastytrade way (e.g. high IVR, 30-45 DTE, delta ~0.8-0.2, avoid binary events). I stuck to vertical call spreads and cash-secured puts. I traded via Tastyworks. I stuck to about 10 symbols. Some included IWM, QQQ, SPY/SPX, GLD, MCD, etc. I did that for several months stopping in April 2021. I got the hang of option selling -- but I decided it wasn't the thing for me at that time. I was working with an account size of ~10k during that time.
Fast forward to today: I received some windfall from working at a company that just got bought out. I have some disposable income and want to give option selling a try again. I plan to start with an account size of ~50k. I'll start with a similar strategy as before: defined-risk strategies. Mostly plan on doing vertical spreads, cash-secured puts, and covered calls (if the puts are exercised). I'm switching to the ThinkOrSwim platform after exploring some of their features. I'm toying with several option scanner setups to hopefully streamline some of the process.
In talking with a few people about the stock market (and options), general sentiment seems uncertain. Is anyone worried about current market conditions?
I feel like I have a basic grasp on the basic of option selling. I'll admit I'm only really aware of the Tastytrade methodology. Do you recommend any resources to further my knowledge? Additional strategies to consider utilizing?
A friend recommend that I check out TradingView. Do you use TradingView as a part of your process?
Excited to get back into the swing of things! Just waiting for my initial transfer to clear so I can get some option buying power to begin working with.
