Matthew Stafford averaged 12.3 yards per attempt vs. the #Bears β€” the highest yards/attempt against a Bears defense since the Packers' Brett Favre in 2004 (15.1) β€” and the highest for a QB throwing more than 20 passes since the Lions' Eric Hipple in 1981 (13.4). twitter.com/MarkPotash/st…

ACS February-4-2021: Brett Favre, Eric Bolling, and Gerry Callahan

At the top of the show, Adam talks to Bryan and Gina about his Willy T. Ribb’s documentary, β€˜Uppity’, making yet another films-to-watch list. The guys then chat about ridiculous articles from β€˜Good Housekeeping Magazine’. From there, Brett Favre and Eric Bolling join the podcast, and the guys talk about Brett’s recent appearance on Tucker Carlson talking about cheese. Adam also asks the guys for their thoughts on the Super Bowl, as well as some of the more memorable games in Brett’s NFL career. Later, Adam talks about what frustrates him when he watches football, and Brett talks about his relationship with different coaches throughout his life, including his own father. Before the break, the guys chat with a caller about wussy country music, and possible tool tunes.

At the top of Part 2, Adam welcomes legendary sports reporter Gerry Callahan to the podcast. The guys talk about his decades in morning radio, as well as what’s going on with terrestrial radio in 2021. Later they talk about cancel culture, sensitivity training, and stifling the next generation of social commentators. Gina then reads news stories about Jeff Bezos stepping down as CEO of Amazon, more claims against Marilyn Manson, and Super Bowl Prop Bets. In the last part of the show, the guys talk about COVID restrictions for Super Bowl Sunday, and they watch some leaked Super Bowl commercials.

Top 25 Fantasy Players at Each Position (since 1970, min 100 games)

I have this little project that I do for fun where I use players' yearly regular season fantasy ranks along with formulas that also factor in longevity of careers to determine an all-time ranking. What I like about it is that it gets around changes in the way the game is played throughout generations, since players accumulate points and move up the rankings solely through being better than their contemporaries in that specific year. For example, quarterbacks in the current NFL have much higher passing yardage and touchdown numbers because the game is more pass-centric than it was in 1970, for instance.

What I have posted here is a small sample, as I have hundreds of entries for each position. I thought this would be interesting to post, and might create some fun discussion about where players belong in an all-time rank. I fully understand that, even though these ranks are the result of data, the formulas I have created are my own, and "greatness" is subjective to an extent, so please don't try to attack me for having a bad opinion. I'm not making a statement about how I feel about any specific players or players at large. I am simply sharing the results of my data. Enjoy.

Who's Left? NFL Hall of Famers with still Active Teammates.

A few months ago, a dive into Grant Hill's Wikipedia page got me wondering. How many active teammates did he have? Curiosity piqued, I went from there and scanned over all NBA Hall of Famers and compiled their active teammates. And then did it with baseball. The NFL, with their much larger rosters, was a bit frightening, but here it is at last! First, a few ground rules.

A. Each player must have either played this year, or be on the injured reserve. No free agents, so players like Larry Fitzgerald were disqualified from this exercise.

B. Practice Squad DOES count. Tahir Whitehead played with Calvin and he's on a practice squad this year, I counted him. On the flip side, TO only played on the Seahawks practice squad in 2012, but I still counted the Hawks teammates.

C. Finally- I'm anything but perfect! I skimmed over all these rosters over a few hours, and I'm sure I missed a few here or there. Only caught Broncos Brett Kern, Steelers Brian Hoyer and Falcons Dustin Colquitt at the last moment. If you see where I erred, don't be afraid to correct me- I also used the rosters on Wikipedia, because Football Reference is murderously slow, so that might not capture the full season. Anyway, the players!

  1. Ed Reed, with 27. Nick Folk, Demario Davis, Nick Bellore, Sheldon Richardson, Oday Aboushi, Geno Smith, A.J. Bouye, Kareem Jackson, Jon Weeks, Randy Bullock, Whitney Mercilus, Ben Jones, Brandon Brooks, Duane Brown, J.J. Watt, Ryan Griffin, DeAndre Hopkins, Case Keenum, Joe Flacco, Tyrod Taylor, Pernell McPhee, Josh Bynes, Jimmy Smith, Morgan Cox, Justin Tucker, Sam Koch, and Anthony Levine.

  2. Charles Woodson, with 25. Derek Carr, Latavius Murray, Taiwan Jones, Amari Cooper, Lee Smith, Rodney Hudson, Gabe Jackson, Denico Autry, Justin Ellis, Shelby Harris, Benson Mayowa, Mario Edwards Jr, Khalil Mack, Malcolm Smith, T.J. Carrie, Garrett Gilbert, Jon Feliciano, Jack Crawford, Aaron Rodgers, Randall Cobb, Greg Van Roten, Mason Crosby, Casey Hayward, Bryan Bulaga, and Mike Daniels.

  3. Champ Bailey, with 20. Malik Jackson, Von Miller, Chris Harris Jr, Aaron Brewer, Matt Prater, Derek Wolfe, Danny Trevathan, Brett Kern, Ryan Griffin, Mark Ingram, Kenny Stills, Jimmy Graham, Cameron Jordan, Senio Kelemete, Terron Armstead, Thomas Morstead, Brandin Cooks, Akiem Hicks, John Jenkins and Willie Snead.

[OC] Quick Look at the Top NFL HC Candidates (2022)

Eric Bieniemy, Chiefs Offensive Coordinator (Age: 52)

Eric Bieniemy is in his fourth season coordinating the Chiefs’ offense under Andy Reid, and his success during that time is impressive, as the Chiefs ranked first in the NFL in total offense in both 2018 and 2020, and they won the Super Bowl in 2019 off the backs of a dominant offensive performance down the stretch. Prior to becoming the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator, Bieniemy coached in the NFL for 10 seasons, including serving as the position coach for Adrian Peterson and Jamaal Charles.

Todd Bowles, Buccaneers Defensive Coordinator (Age: 58)

Todd Bowles is in his third season coordinating the Buccaneers’ defense and he immediately transformed the unit, taking them from ranking 27th in total defense in 2018 to top-10 in both 2019 and 2020. Since taking over as DC, Bowles has developed players like Shaq Barrett and Devin White into stars, which ultimately culminated in a dominant 2020 Super Bowl run. Prior to becoming the Buccaneers’ defensive coordinator, Bowles coached in the NFL for 21 seasons, including a 24-40 stint with the Jets from 2015 to 2018, and he played in the NFL for 8 seasons.

Brian Daboll, Bills Offensive Coordinator (Age: 46)

Brian Daboll is in his fourth season coordinating the Bills’ offense, and his success during that time includes overhauling one of the worst offenses in football. In 2018, the Bills drafted Josh Allen, and by 2020, Allen finished with 4544 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Prior to becoming the Bills’ offensive coordinator, Daboll coached in the NFL for 15 seasons, including serving as the position coach for Brett Favre and Rob Gronkowski and winning 5 Super Bowls with the Patriots.

Leslie Frazier, Bills Defensive Coordinator (Age: 62)

Leslie Frazier is in his fifth season coordinating the Bills’ defense under Sean McDermott, and as DC, the Bills have finished top-5 in total defense twice and are on track to finish 2021 with the top total defense in the NFL. Since taking over as defensive coordinator, the Bills have had excellent defensive performances from players like Tre’Davious White and Micah Hyde and have made the playoffs 3 times. Before joining the Bills, Frazier coached in the NFL for 19 seasons, including a 21-32-1 stint as head coach of the Vikings from 2010 to 2013, and he played for 5 seasons, including starting for the vaunted 1985 Bears defense.

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Evaluating every first round Quarterback draft pick by each team of the common draft era, Part 1: The NFC North

For this series, I wanted to look at and evaluate the quarterbacks that each team picked in the first round of the draft (not counting the supplemental draft). To simplify things, I am only counting quarterbacks from the common draft era. This began in 1970 when the AFL and NFL officially merged and stopped holding separate drafts. So I will only be looking at quarterbacks drafted from 1970 onwards.

I will assign one of three ratings to each quarterback: boom, bust, or meh. Before I begin, I want to make 2 things clear so people don't overreact to some of my ratings.

  1. I am evaluating the value the team got out of their draft pick, not the player's career as a whole. So Steve Young would be a bust because the Buccaneers got nothing out of the pick they used on him, even though his career as a whole was definitely not a bust.

  2. Since there's no "too soon to tell" rating, for recently drafted quarterbacks I will simply rate them based on what we've seen so far. So when I rate Zach Wilson a bust, it's not a prediction of how his career will turn out, it simply means he hasn't played well in the three games he's played so far.

Let's begin.

Green Bay Packers: 4

Since 1970, the Packers have selected a total of four quarterbacks in the first round.

Name Year Overall
Jerry Tagge 1972 11
Rich Campbell 1981 6
Aaron Rodgers 2005 24
Jordan Love 2020 26

Let's begin with Jerry Tagge, drafted 11th overall by the Pack in 1972. Tagge led Nebraska to a 13-0 season in 1971, and was the first quarterback taken in the 1972 draft. Tagge started just 12 games in 3 seasons with the Packers, throwing for just 1583 yards for 3 TDs and 17 interceptions. His poor play prompted coach Rick Devine to trade the farm for 34 year old QB John Hadl in 1974. Hadl was also a disaster, and prompted Devine to abandon to Packers to coach Notre Dame. The new coach, Bart Starr, had no attachment to Tagge and released him prior to the 1975 season. He never played in the NFL again, but did have some success in the CFL, being named a CFL All-Star in 1977. Only lasting three years with the Packers and putting up poor numbers to boot, Jerry Tagge is a bust.

The Packers would next draft a quarterback early in 1981, when they took Cal product Rich Campbell 6th overall. Campbell holds a special distinction on this list- he never started a single regular season game, which makes him unique among quarterbacks drafted in the top 30 since 1970. Every single other o

Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB

Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"

I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual

So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes

Who own the team do you think will make it into the Ring of Honor after their retirement?

Here's my list:

Adam Thielen - lock

Harrison Smith - lock

Danielle Hunter - stays with the team, stays healthy, and he's a lock

Eric Kendricks - Stays healthy and on the team, and his play continues to get better, and he's likely in.

Dalvin Cook - Cook needs to stay healthy for probably 2-3 more seasons and he's likely in.

List of fringe/maybe's, IMO:

Everson Griffen - Griffen has been a staple of this team's defensive line under Zimmer and Andre Patterson. But whether he gets in I think is still questionable.

Anthony Barr - he's good when he's healthy but hasn't been healthy.

Kirk Cousins - I think he's the best quarterback we've had since Favre by far. I think he needs some longevity and a couple more playoff wins, which is completely within his capabilities.

Justin Jefferson - this team NEEDS to keep him under contract. Blank check. Jefferson is the best receiver in the NFL just based on the fact he's only 22 and is on his way to a second straight All-Pro year. He's breaking records, leading the league or near the top in many of the most important receiving stats, etc. Jefferson is good.

Other players no longer on the team, but still in the league:

Kyle Rudolph is likely a lock.

Stefon Diggs is a 50/50. His shorter tenure and the nature of his departure may have soured the taste for whoever chooses the ring of honor people.

Xavier Rhodes - he was amazing for a few seasons and then was just bad.

When I was a single man, I had loads of free time.

Now that I listen to albums, I hardly ever leave the house.

Girlfriend got me good. Never been more proud of her.

Said if she ever hosts a gender reveal party, when it comes time to pop the balloon she'll spray everyone with water.

Gender is fluid.

I'm sick of you guys posting dumb wordplay in here for awards and upvotes.

Don't you know a good pun is its own reword?

My 4 year oldest favourit joke, which he very proudly memorized and told all his teachers.

Two muffins are in an oven, one muffin looks at the other and says "is it just me, or is it hot in here?"

Then the other muffin says "AHH, TALKING MUFFIN!!!"

Dropped my best ever dad joke & no one was around to hear it

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

I said "hey look, an escaPEA"

No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!

Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies πŸ˜‚
