She's not quite 9, on the spectrum, has a few other issues and challenges--including some pretty hefty anxiety. We're both vaxxed and she's got an appointment next week to get her first shot (finally!)
My daughter was premature-- and when she was only 3 months old caught a horrible case of RSV that landed her in the hospital. Doctors warned us she'd be prone to pneumonia and chest infections because catching RSV that young + being premature on top of it did some damage to her lungs. Nothing so awful it affects her daily life, but when she does get a cold it ALWAYS turns into a bad URI. She's had pneumonia twice.
We've lost a (young, healthy) family member to Covid, too, as well as some family friends of varying ages.
Living in rural Michigan, we get a lot of nasty looks directed our way for still wearing a mask when we go out. We're just trying to keep people safe, including my daughter-- not everyone has the physical capacity to fight off Covid. Hell, even healthy people die from this--my husband's cousin was one--he was only in his mid 40s, a few years older than us, a nature guide and fishing instructor in Colorado.
But yesterday I about lost my shit when some Karen mocked my daughter for wearing a mask and called her stupid.
It took all my willpower not to punch that woman. She has no idea how prone to URI's my daughter is, how this pandemic has affected my family, and the fact my daughter's entire world got flipped upside down because of it for over a year--virtual school, her in-person therapy sessions were cancelled by the therapist for over a year, losing family friends, etc--it all scared her and she's just now starting to not panic any time she sees other people in public. Finally got in-person therapy started again, going back to in-person learning next semester at school, etc.
So, folks? I DGAF how you might -personally- feel about masks at this point. Don't want to get a jab and help slow the spread of this shit? Fine. You do you, you suffer whatever consequences come your way. But do FUCKING NOT mock children or their parents. DON'T. DO. IT. Eventually, someone will lose their temper and you will end up regretting poking your nose into someone else's business over a health issue-- you don't know their situation, you don't know if they've lost family, you don't know if their child or themselves has a health condition that makes Covid especially dangerous.

My bf and i have been fighting for quite some time, and he thought letting me log into his instagram account would make things "better" i've had it for a few weeks now and i rarely check his dms to see if he's lying to me about going somewhere/doing something with certain people. I got a notification last night (from his friend sent to him) that he sent explicit images into a group chat, however, they were apparently cartoons. i was concerned since we have an issue about saving pornography of any kind, so i checked. When i did, he had already deleted them, but i didnβt recognize the person that spoke in the groupchat. with me, he's timid, gentle, caring... in the groupchat he's aggressive, profound, and (since this is on instagram) sends content that i never knew he knew about or was interested in. i feel like i know a stranger... and i'm currently panicking, why is he so different with me compared to them?

Looks like the anti-SJW/βWokeβ outrage has reached the government. And more people not Understanding what βCritical race theoryβ means.
We didnβt go virtual last year (rural area) and only had a handful of kids stay home. I teach at a k-8 school which already has its own set of issues, but these kids are out of control. The elementary side was on a soft lock down the other day bc a kid was losing it. We have had multiple suicides or attempts. I donβt understand whatβs going on. Other schools talks about their lack of social learning from not being in school for a yearβ¦.but we were there and Iβm still seeing the same behaviors. I feel like saying a year at home is a cop out when Iβm seeing the same things. Is anyone else dealing with this? Iβm so lost. Teaching isnβt even fun anymore.
Edit: and the apathy! Kids just stare at me when I tell them they have missing assignments and expect me to find them for them????
