A list of puns related to "Dorje Shugden"
So from what i understand, material promoting Dorje Shugden or the New Kadampa tradition is banned. Why? What is Dorje Shugden exactly? From what ive seen from here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorje_Shugden_controversy#History its a controversy regarding a guardian spirit of some sort. Is the NKT a spinoff of the gelug tradition? Im so confused.

Wiki article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorje_Shugden_controversy
Those that aren't completely familiar with Tibetan Buddhism might find this debate a bit difficult to follow. But I will try to simplify the arguments as much as possible.
Dorje Shugden is regarded as a spirit in traditional Dharma teaching. In the Gelugpa tradition, the Dorje Shugden is elevated to the level of a god and Gelugpa monks have been worshiping this deity.
Zemey Rinpoche in The Yellow Book (1975), reported numerous Gelugpa lamas (including the Fifth Dalai Lama) who had been killed by Dorje Shugden in punishment for adopting practices from Nyingma and other sects rather than adhering exclusively to Gelugpa lineage.
The 14th (current) Dalai Lama forbade the Dorje Shugden from manifesting after concluding that the Dorje Shugden was not a benign or benevolent deity, but a dangerous spirit. In response, he dramatically refused to accept long life offerings from the Tibetan government in exile following the 1976 Tibetan New Year, and hinted at his possible departure from earthly existence and the cycle of reincarnation. Later that year he finally accepted the offerings, indicating his willingness to continue as Dalai Lama, but in 1977 he began speaking out against the use of the deity as an institutional protector and laying restrictions on public performances of the practice.
Were Gelugpa lamas killed by an evil spirit? If so, Buddhism is NOT an atheistic religion. Were Gelugpa lamas killed by other Buddhists because they had strayed too far from the core teachings of Buddhism? If so, Buddhism is NOT a peaceful religion.
Upvote if you like the idea. If I get 20 votes, I'll scrounge through all the posts I've seen in the last month or so and put together an entry.
(full disclosure: yes, I attend NKT events. I assure you that I'll write the fairest FAQ entry possible. And it's a wiki so if you don't like it, change it! )
After looking at a few posts from people who are practing by themselves, I thought I'd put together this list. Do yourselves a favour and find a reputable teacher. I have listed seven reasons:
Lineage -- Most importantly, you connect with a school and the centuries of practice that went before. They have had centuries to work out the kinks before you get there. Any problems you might have, they will know about.
Study -- The Dharma is hard to understand and requires study, but it is not about acquiring vast reams of knowledge. Spending time reading books, talking to friends and people on Reddit, is not practice. A good teacher will put you on the right path -- there needs to be a balance between knowledge and practice. The emphasis varies from tradition to tradition, but a teacher is essential to guide you in this area.
Meditation -- Meditation is not just "meditation". Meditation, is "a cave of demons", as the Zen folk say. Most people who practice without a teacher are doing Shamata, which has fabulous benefits but is not a path in itself. Others watch videos on YouTube on Dzogchen, Vipassana, etc. Inevitably their practice becomes a mish-mash of ideas or they focus on one favourite practice they are attached to.
Dilettantism -- Jack of all trades, master of none. Many people do a bit of this and a bit of that but have not committed themselves to a path. They vacillate and end up nowhere. A commitment to a teacher and a path will prevent this.
Accountability -- Dharma is commitment and hard work. Who's going to check your progress when you're slacking off, tell you to hold off for awhile if you're overdoing it, or correct you if you're barking up the wrong tree?
Delusions -- Teachers are a sounding board. Wild and wacky ideas invariably spring up if you don't have a teacher. These can be downright nutty or very subtle and insidious, but either way they will greatly undermine your practice.
The Odds -- Finally, the odds are seriously not in your favour. As Bodhidharma said, only one in a million can achieve enlightenment without a teacher. So, do you feel lucky today?
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

I guess the concept didn't work
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat
Do your worst!
How the hell am I suppose to know when itβs raining in Sweden?
Ants donβt even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.
But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.

Then the other muffin says "AHH, TALKING MUFFIN!!!"
