A list of puns related to "Dental notation"
Hi there! I live in the metro and have a sweet kitty with some dental issues :( . I adopted her April of 2020 and the shelter had notated in her medical records that she had some gingivitis brewing. After taking her to two different vets over the course of the past year and a half, I have gotten both "she's fine, cats just act weird" and "she's gonna lose all of her teeth and it'll cost $1000+ to actually perform the extractions". Obviously I feel kind of lost as it is, and actually switched vets because the "she's fine" clinic just didn't sit right with me. However, there is no way my bf and I could afford dental care that's going to be hundreds, possibly even over a thousand.
We don't really know what to do except re-home her because of the costs (but we love her and that's not something either of us really want to do). Does anyone have any recommendations in the metro that are not only affordable, but also reliable? Or if anyone knows of any kind of financial aid, that would be 100000% appreciated. Also I'm sorry if this isn't the right place to post this. I can repost in a more appropriate sub if needed. Thanks guys
Do your worst!
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!

Iβd like to start off by saying that, while this is of course just an analysis of my own vowel system, I consider myself to have a rather unremarkable accent, so I think a lot of this is applicable to most younger speakers in the broader MontrΓ©al area.
Iβm new to Praat, and I donβt know how to use RStudio, so the process was a little messy. I ended up having to make a chart in LibreOffice Calc, which was hideous, so I interpreted the results as a generic Wikipedia-style trapezoid vowel chart to neaten everything up, which left me with two charts of phones. Here are the monopthongs, and here are the nasal vowels and diphthongs. Youβll notice that my IPA notation is a bit all over the place. I had to take a few liberties, since I wanted to obscure the relationship between phonemes and each of their allophones as little as possible. So for that, I apologize.
I will now try and explain the charts by tying these phones to a more typical phonemic analysis of French.
The first thing you can see is that each of the three high vowel phonemes /i y u/ have three allophones each. The high (tense) allophones [i y u] occur in open syllables such as vie, vue, vous. The lower (lax) allophones [Ιͺ Κ Ι΅ΝΚ] occur in most closed syllables, such as vite, chute, toune. (I was actually quite surprised to find out that the lax allophone of /u/ was a diphthong, as it always seemed to be a monophthong [Κ] to my ear. The range of motion is quite small, so this could be one reason for this. I did do multiple tests to confirm, so I donβt think I made a mistake during recording.) The lowest (pre-r) allophones [ΙͺΜ ΚΜ Κ] occur in word-final closed syllables that end in R /Κ/, such as pire, mur, tour. This /Κ/, which is frequently realized as an approximant [ΚΜ] in coda positions in QuΓ©bec French, tends to affect the quality of preceding vowels in general, and more examples of this will bee seen later. One point of interest is that a coda consonant following the R nullifies this effect. Hence, cours is pronounced [kΚΚ], but courbe is [kΙ΅ΝΚΚb].
The pre-r allophones of the high vowel phonemes are incredibly close to the mid-high vowel phonemes /e ΓΈ o/. In fact, I kind of exaggerated the distances in my charts: theyβre practically merged. However, there isnβt any possibility

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
