Hey guys, so now that I've made progress on writing lyrics for the album, I believe now is finally a good time to really start looking for a vocalist since there's a bunch of songs to work on.
I'm looking for any types, but preferably able to sing in a rock format. Which is a hugely varied genre with all types of vocalists. I'm thinking about having dual vocalists, one female and one male. It's how a lot of bands I like growing up did it, and it feels right to me.
Visually, the project is inspired by sort of an almost anime vibe. Or at least that's how I've been envisioning it. The story takes place in a futuristic world and also has a lot of space themes too. I like to call it a Cyberpop feel, rather than Cyberpunk because it's very light in tone for the majority of the album.
If you're interested in checking it out, here is a link to the Soundcloud where I've uploaded 8 of the 9 tracks that will appear on the album: https://soundcloud.com/themoonraiders The first track "The First Mission" actually has more metal elements than most of the other songs due to it being the first track I wrote for the album and originally wanting to create something a little different. It evolved into being a little more poppier and having more pop punk elements as-well. But, there's a mix of various elements in a lot of the songs. "Space Cadet" and "Mechanical Parasite" are the two songs that will likely be the "Singles" of the album if you want to check them out first to get an idea. Both those tracks should be enough to give you an idea of the album as a whole, but most of the tracks are quite different from one another.
Today I decided to give that album a listen and some songs reminded me of the band's heaviest.
What do you think of it? In my opinion it's Anette's heaviest work since her Nightwish days.
Hello again, everyone!
As some of you may know, I had set up a poll for an upcoming Nightwish knockout game, and most chose knockout games about Nightwish's live albums; starting with From Wishes to Eternity. I also said that the knockout game will begin some time after Halloween.
However, I've been busy lately, and haven't been in the right mind to continue knockout games for the time being; therefore further knockout games will have to be postponed indefinitely, alas. I deeply apologize. Lots of personal things have been weighing down on me, such as the well-being of my loved ones, for example. I hope you fellow folks can understand.
But fear not, they will continue. Maybe after the holidays.
Take care, everyone, and enjoy the rest of the week! Cheers!
This may be a controversial opinion, but I don't like Nightwish album covers. The colors are bland and the text often looks photoshop-y. For a band that produces such dynamic and rich sounds, their artwork does not reflect it.
I do like some of the older album covers, like Oceanborn and Century's Child. They may be cheesy but they capture the magic and wonder of those albums. Everything since DPP has been comparatively dull.
Sorry to start a negative discussion, but I'm curious what everyone thinks. Maybe you love it and that's great!

What would you like to hear on the new Nightwish album in 2024? Do you think Tuomas will surprise us with something?
Nightwish has won the award for Metal album of the year at Emma Gaala, the most prestigious music awards ceremony in Finland.
In their speech, Kai said the first time he was nominated for Emma, it was with Wintersun, and goddammit Nightwish won the award. But now he's not upset at all.
Tuomas said they'd like to dedicate this award to Marko, and thanked him for the 20 years together.

EDIT: Holy downvotes, Batman! To be clear this is a parody! Context is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/nightwish/comments/n7nyig/ranking_nightwish_albums_from_worst_to_best/
Before I begin I want to make a few disclaimers first. Firstly, Nightwish are my favorite band of all time. They are great! However, I will be omitting albums where either Tarja Turunen or Floor Jansen was the front woman. Those eras of Nightwish don't interest me, it is important everybody knows that I have no albums from those eras and I don't want them either. In fact, I've never even heard them.
Secondly, albums with Anette on will be included, but remember one thing........I've had years of listening to Nightwish albums from the Anette era, but there's not that many of them, so maybe it might be better if I listen to some of the other albums and make this ranking in 2 years time, or maybe not at all, but I'll give it a go nonetheless.
In 2nd place would be Dark Passion Play. The first Anette era album. This album has many songs, some of them are good and some of them are mediocre. These songs are about a variety of topics, but I'm not going to get into that. Maybe this album might get ranked more higher if I were to do this again in 2 or 3 years time, but for now I do not consider it a very strong album. But I do like some of the songs.
And in first place.....Imaginaerum. Many people say that this album and Dark Passion Play are equally good, maybe to a degree they are right. The first time I heard it I thought to myself "This is a Nightwish album!!!". One thing that makes an album good or great is variety, and this album has huge variety. There are some songs, and then some other different songs. The opening track is a good epic that lasts over 2 minutes, Anette certainly shows off her vocal variety by singing rather heavy in Finnish, sounding kind of like Marko Hietala. This album ranks number 1 for me. Unfortunately I have not come back to this album often.
I hope you have enjoyed my ranking of Nightwish albums!
(Apologies to /u/Greenmist01, I'm just being silly here. I hope you're not offended and take this in the spirit in which it's intended :) )
Maybe we can pin this at some point, but we're starting to see some frequent questions about when the new Nightwish album will be out. Tuomas has stated that a new album will likely be out in Spring 2020. So far, the only details we have are that the band has demos done and is rehearsing in its summer camp in Finland.
The good news is that the band is on almost the exact same timeline that produced Endless Forms Most Beautiful. So, based on that, here's what we can expect for the New Nightwish Album.
Of course, this is all speculation. But so far, everything is lining up just like it did for EFMB. We'll see how it goes. Hopefully we can use this as a reference to see where the band is as they record their ninth album.
Let's sort out what we like about NW. Pick an album (my picks would be in brackets):
...with Tarja (Once)
...with Anette (Inaginaerum)
...with Floor (Endless Forms Most Beautiful)
...with Marco (Century Child)
...that has the most beautiful artwork (Oceanborn)
...that has my favourite NW song (Once)
...that is my all time favourite (either Once or Imaginaerum)
...that was my first (Century Child)
...that deserves more appreciation (Imaginaerum)
...that is my least favourite (Human Nature)
I forgot to include Tarot, I have most of their CDs as well including some singles (but they were around before Nightwish so they are their own thing, really).

The third round has come to an end, and by 39.4% with a total of 99 votes, Wishmaster is the next album to be eliminated. Guys, really? Rest in peace, HAMSTER! A DENTIST! HARD PORN! ETC. ETC. Round 4!

The fourth round has come to an end, and by 28.3% with a total of 64 votes, Century Child is the next album to be eliminated. As Marko once said, "***I. TRULY. HATE. YOU. ALL!***" Ye have angered the Viking bass god! Round 5!
Author's note: I ended the previous round after just one day because I'll be going to a wedding next week; therefore won't be able to complete this knockout game in time, and I don't want to put the final round on hold for like two weeks (quarantine business). So, since these knockout games have been getting tons of votes, I'll be updating every 24 hours.
EDIT: As the rule has stated, vote against the album you prefer the LEAST. Please, don't vote just for the sake of "clean sweeping" just because the albums have been getting knocked out chronologically. That is not how the game works, nor is it the point. Votes will be deleted if you state that you willingly don't vote against your least preferred album.

The Nightwish Studio Albums KO game has officially ended! Coming in second place, by 54.4% with a total of 129 votes, Once is the final album to be eliminated; therefore making Imaginaerum the ultimate victor by 45.6% with a total of 108 votes! Yay!
Let me first say that I'm sorry for rushing this KO game so suddenly. Stated before, I'll be gone for about two weeks. So for the time being, we'll be taking a breather from these knockout games! I do hope that these knockout games have been keeping everyone entertained, considering how trashy things have been because of the pandemic.
In the meantime, you guys can once again vote for which knockout game ye want to play next here! It's multiple choice, so you can pick as many options as you want.
Catch you guys next time!
