I've never been huge on heroes who have a no kill rule because mostly I think it's kinda silly and creates more writing problems than it fixes, nobody is going to be sad if the Justice League kill Doomsday or find a way to remove Grundy from existence or any other villain who's immortal and will just never stop, or those actively causing huge amounts of damage. Just effing kill them.
But the worst thing about no kill heroes is how blatantly unrealistic their methods are. And don't give me "it's fiction!" when not all the rules are based in fiction, characters who are supposed to be just human can and should be killed by things that would kill a person.
Why is that annoying? Because there are plenty stories where these limitations do show up, like someone falling and hitting their head or neck and dying. Or even a hero accidentally causing that. These human limitations clearly exist in comics even if most of the time they are greatly exaggerated.
The fact that these things can happen shows that they should happen.
I don't care if you want to tell me that heroes like Batman are just "super skilled" or some shit, you can't just knock people out in such a way that it has no chance of killing them, that's statistically impossible. For every 100 thugs Batman knocks out it is guaranteed some of them would end up dead, just through the nature of being knocked unconscious alone.
Nevermind the fact any of them could have brain aneurysms or other health problems that would practically outright kill them if they received head trauma. You're not telling me he brain scans and researches the health of literally every random thug he fights.
But maybe I can buy Batman, maybe. I'll ignore Batarangs as well.
Green Arrow though? The dude literally shoots people with arrows, you're not telling me it's possible to be so accurate that you only lightly injure people when you're puncturing their flesh. Half the time he pins people to walls and whatnot, I don't care how accurate he is that would definitely kill people from time to time.
And no matter how accurate he is he can't account for people's bodies jerking in such a way after being hit that they tear arteries or them just doing something stupid with the arrow that ends up killing them.
Then you have freaking Black Lightning or Static who blast people with electricity, again there is no way to 100% avoid killing people when you're firing that much power at them, no matter how toned down it i
