Mohamed Noor joined the Minneapolis Police Department in March 2015 andΒ was celebrated asΒ one of the first Somali officers in the 5th Precinct, according to KARE-TV.
Authorities said Justine Ruszczyk called 911 the night of July 15, 2017, to report a possible sexual assault in an alley behind her house.
Officers Matthew Harrity & Mohamed Noor were dispatched to the scene and arrived at 11:37 p.m., according to a criminal complaint. Prosecutors said Noor was sitting in the passenger seat, pulled out his gun and shot across the vehicle to hit Ruszczyk, who was outside the driverβs side door.
Noor testified during the trial that Harrityβs terrified expression & the sight of Ruszczyk with her hand raised jolted him into action. Although he did not see a gun in the womanβs hand, he feared his partner might be shot as she began to raise her hand, he said.
In April 2019, Noor was convicted of 3^(rd) degree murder & 2^(nd) degree manslaughter in Ruszczyk's death. Noor was sentenced to 12.5 years in prison.
In September 2021, Noor's third-degree murder conviction was overturned by the Minnesota Supreme Court, saying the evidence is βinsufficientβ to maintain it.
In October 2021, a Hennepin County judge re-sentenced Noor to 57 months in prison, the maximum penalty allowed for second-degree manslaughter.
With time already served, Noor, 36, is expected to be released from prison on June 27, 2022.

A real Γ© q mesmo meu irmΓ£o tendo 18 anos sua mentalidade pode ser comparada em muitos quesitos a crianΓ§as e prΓ©-adolescentes. Eu acho q seria bom para meu irmΓ£o tomar consciΓͺncia disso, pois ele nΓ£o tem, sendo q ele apresenta momentos de lucidez onde acredito q ele poderia entender.
Fiquei mt mal com essa situação, pois meu irmão deseja q eu explique pra ele, mas a minha mãe não quer.
