For those of you who don't know the Damon Knight Memorial Grand Master Award (known as the SFWA Grand Master Award until 2002) is an award given by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA) to living authors (of any nationality) for lifetime achievement. Some past winners include icons like Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov, Ursula K. LeGuin, and Samuel R. Delany. It's an award for those who have really impacted the genre. While its most focused on Science Fiction writers, Peter S. Beagle, and others have also won the award.

App and Personality
Damon Arryn is so like other knights of his age; proud, perhaps even edging on arrogance, strong-willed, and ready for a fight. Some may even call him vain, not an unfair assertion for the knight who can spend the first half of his morning bathing and preparing himself for the day with a wardrobe filled to the brim with valuable clothes. Though so unlike many other knights his steel has been tempered. Years of fighting have shown the young knight the horrors and glories of true war beyond his time, and not just the glorious wars of stories but actual hellscapes of blasted earth and mangled men. So despite his flaws, he can show surprising displays of humility and respect. He knows that commoners are not toys on a battlefield and knows that each life lost is a failure on its commander. Through all the vanity and self-aggrandizing he can show unmistakable kindness and a willingness to do better.
Jon is a respectable 5ft 10, fit and lean cutting a fine figure both on and off horseback. He has wavy long black hair that falls a bit down his shoulder and piercing blue eyes so common to members of his house. Both his armor and outfits are spectacular, usually decorated with furs, gems, and heraldry of his house.
History
From a young age, he would follow the path of many Arryn’s by taking an interest in knighthood and chivalry. Long days in the training field would hone him from a young age to be a capable warrior. It was this skill at so young an age that perhaps birthed a less admirable part of his character: arrogance. Why should he not be after all? He was an Arryn, the Lord of the Vale being his close uncle, and he was already on his way to knighthood.
