My understanding is an agreement can be signed to pay out leave in the following year after accrual and it's not considered constructive receipt. What can be done with already banked hours?

Schedule C individual invoices out $350k to a customer on 12/24. Payment is made by customer before year end and is in pending status at individuals bank on 12/30. The deposit clears on 1/4.

Is this constructive receipt?

Ps I’m sure customer wants to take a deduction for the payment and will probably have a 1099NEC issued to the Sole prop.

I’m inclined to have income picked up in 2020 in case of tax increase under new administration. Plus this will allow for SEP IRA contribution since this invoice is the only revenue of the sole prop (only had expenses).

Changes to the PTO Sellback Process In order to be compliant with IRS regulations, LGH must redesign its PTO sellback policy. Any employee selling PTO will receive 90% of the cash value (current base rate x hours x .90). This change is for PTO sellback only. PTO that is used for any type of vacation/sick/leave/holiday, or upon separation from the organization, will continue to be reimbursed at 100% value.

Why the change? The IRS has specific rulings involving earned PTO called “constructive receipt”. A 10% forfeiture of cash value is designed to make this plan compatible with IRS regulations regarding taxability. Many similar healthcare companies had already changed their PTO policies. To meet IRS guidelines, Lafayette General needed to change its PTO sellback process for two reasons: 1. To continue allowing employees to sell back PTO. 2. In order to avoid significant tax implications for all employees.

I used to be self employed as a contractor but haven’t in years, so I no longer have an LLC nor am I used to self-employment taxes anymore.

One client came back to me with a project and paid me in advance right at the end of Dec. I hadn’t invoiced them and wasn’t expecting payment yet. We didn’t even have a contract in place yet either. They didn’t notify me until Jan and I didn’t get money deposited in my account until Jan 3. I haven’t started the work yet.

They are planning to include this expense in their 2021 taxes. Am I good to consider this entirely part of 2022 taxes for me? I just got my W-2 and would really like to breeze through the usual tax process for now.

Hello, I've had many issues with my LL this year and no longer trust them to do anything in good faith with the intention to follow the RTA. Cue today. Email at 10am that they needed to enter my unit because they had a contractor coming. I responded that they had not given me proper notice and I was in virtual meetings all day. LLs answer was to magically change the contractor to a prospective tenant who would be coming for a viewing and who would need access to the water valve in my room (I am moving on the 16th; LL issued N12 for personal use, so the room is already filled). LL arrived alone 2 hours after the supposed viewing time. I have audio recording of him admitting that it was not a viewing. I reminded him that he had not given proper notice. He came in anyways. He said I should just do him the favour since he did the "favour" of giving me one month compensation to move (ie. the legally required compensation for an N12 reason 1). Moreover, he needed entry to turn the water off for renos to the top floor which should not be going on during C19 - which I'm pretty sure is why they are doing it in a wkd when bylaw enforcement is closed. He told us in April that he would be changing the top floor of the house to a contained unit. Now he's started building a kitchen up there even though restrictions still forbid residential construction which did not begin before Apr 4. Any ideas on what I can do here? Can I file a T2 after I leave in a week? I'm so sick of this LL calling everything a favour, not following the RTA, and getting away with clear violations. Final issue of the moment - what should rent receipts looks like for Toronto? The LL gave me a receipt with one lump sum that does not match my calculations. I am reading various things on the ERC. If you qualify for 1st Quarter 2021 do you automatically qualify for 2nd quarter? If 2nd quarter would not qualify on it's own? Then in 3rd quarter, if you qualify, would you then be allowed it in 3rd quarter as well? Making all 3 quarters eligible?

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

I thought you all might enjoy this story about a Lego based business that my wife and I ran 20 years ago.

It all started in the early days of the internet. I frequented a usenet group for Legos. At this point I still had my old collection from the 70s and 80s. But I had never bought a more modern set. I watched as other people were buying and selling discontinued Lego sets on usenet. Some of the prices seemed very high which made me take notice.

Now my wife is an extremely frugal capitalist. She saves nickels everywhere and does the extreme coupon thing. But she isn't afraid to invest money if she believes she'll make money. One day we were standing in a Service Merchandise. And I saw two old crushed sets. They were both from the Ice Planet theme. Because they were crushed, they were half price. But they were still sealed. I bought them both explaining to my wife that I was pretty sure I could sell them for almost twice MSRP on usenet. She thought I was nuts.

I went home and posted on usenet what I had, and started a manual usenet based auction like the other people were running. I was right. They sold for nearly twice MSRP. My wife instantly turned into a cartoon character with dollar signs in her eyes.

We got in the car and made a complete trip around Indianapolis (465) hitting every store we could think of that sold Lego sets. We bought any set we could find that looked like it was more than two years old, meaning it was likely discontinued. We spent around $300. When we got home, I put up the auction again with all of the sets. And again, we made 3x to 4x what we paid.

This began a months-long odyssey. On a weekend, we would pick another city, load up the kids, and spend the weekend visiting whatever that city had to offer while buying all the discontinued Lego sets we could find. We visited Cincinnati, Columbus, St Louis, Chicago, and many other cities... anything within about 600 to 700 miles of Indianapolis. Each time, we made more than enough to pay for the trip. And we were building our own collection as we went, things we didn't want to sell, things that the kids could open and play with, etc. We were running out of cities to visit.

We are a few college students that just moved out of the house after a one year rental. It has been 21 days and the landlord had just sent us a receipt with extreme pricing on "damages" to the house that just happens to be the same amount that we gave him. He owns the construction company, so this is what he is "charging" for fixing everything. Should we attempt to fight it? Get a lawyer or is this something we can do ourselves?

As a female gamer, I just want to say that Frosk gives a bad reputation to women everywhere. She did such a horrible job representing female game reviewers and female gamers. It's obvious to me and to a lot of people that she is clearly incapable of accepting criticism, and many of her arguments are incredibly dishonest and it's a shame that people take her charges at face value.

Almost every single one of her points can be seriously questioned with some research and thoughtful reasoning - everything from her receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback on her reviews before this meltdown happened (which contradicts her claims), to the men getting the same share of criticism as her simply because Adam has been associated with this brand for the last 18 years while she has only been with them for 2 months. This is not sexism - people associate Adam with the brand and people are known to resist change. Frosk didn't even provide the audience with receipts for any of her accusations prior to her rant, which just makes her really difficult to follow.

We do know career trolls on the internet will find the one thing that will piss you off and they will use that knowledge as a bullying tactic to get reactions exactly like this. That's not sexism - that is just strategic bullying. It happens to literally everyone. It's definitely not a good thing, but it's also not sexist. The troll doesn't actually have to believe in what they are saying - only that they need to say it to trigger you.

When people do provide constructive criticism and demonstrate a point where she is wrong, she will not address your feedback, she will dishonestly change/evade the topic and address something else, and she might even end her reply with an attack. She has no desire to change her positions under any circumstances - she is very comfortable living in delusion. She is very indoctrinated with her politics, to the point where she has internalized talking points as truth even though they are demonstrably wrong and blends it in with her professional work.

It appears to me that Frosk really is filled and driven by hate - not rationality and a sound, valid philosophy that actually holds up to scrutiny and criticism. She is clearly intellectually dishonest, internally inconsistent and even hypocritical (such as objectifying men, or judging a group of people based solely on their skin color, or not being nice to people on twitter despite telling everyone else to be nicer, etc.)
