First time posting here. Hopefully this type of question is appropriate. And hopefully I can be educated!
My father showed me a box bearing the family's crest and motto (Ne Oublie) and I was rather enraptured with what I read. Apparently the clan was friendly with Clan Wallace and indeed Sir John de Graham was a friend and follower of none other than William Wallace, one of the most well known leaders during the Scottish Wars of Independence.
The history was very interesting to me, though the castles they apparently had were not quite so impressive.
Hello gang. Got let into an operation with BWC's EU contingent for a drop on Graham 4 to oppose the clans for a bloody match on the Emerald Taiga. I hope you enjoy.

I replied to a thread about storylines the series never followed up on and that made me wanna do a list of every final appearance for every major character in the series because, holy crap, we haven't seen some in many MANY years. Here we go. Oh, and spoilers for the entire series if that wasn't already obvious. For reference during most of this, here's my extensive timeline of the series (also on reddit): link

Oh but I'm not done yet. Here's every mention of any character beyond their first introductions.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's contest! There were many great books released last year which were nominated in our Best of 2021 contest. Here are the winners for the Best Books of 2021!
Just a quick note regarding the voting. We've locked the individual voting threads but that doesn't stop people from upvoting/downvoting so if you check them the upvotes won't necessarily match up with these winners depending on when you look. But, the results announced here do match what the results were at the time the threads were locked.

Winner | She Who Became the Sun | Shelley Parker-Chan | A bold, queer, and lyrical reimagining of the rise of the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty. In 1345, China lies under harsh Mongol rule. For the starving peasants of the Central Plains, greatness is something found only in stories. When the Zhu familyβs eighth-born son, Zhu Chongba, is given a fate of greatness, everyone is mystified as to how it will come to pass. The fate of nothingness received by the familyβs clever and capable second daughter, on the other hand, is only as expected. When a bandit attack orphans the two children, though, it is Zhu Chongba who succumbs to despair and dies. Desperate to escape her own fated death, the girl uses her brother's identity to enter a monastery as a young male novice. There, propelled by her burning desire to survive, Zhu learns she is capable of doing whatever it takes, no matter how callous, to stay hidden from her fate. | /u/picowombat |
1st Runner-Up | Detransition, Baby | Torrey Peters | Reese almost had it all: a loving relationship with Amy, an apartment in New York City, a job she didn't hate. She had scraped together what previous generations of trans women could only dream of: a life of mundane, bourgeois comforts. The only thing missing was a child. But then her girlfriend, Amy, detransitioned and became Ames, and everything fell apart. Ames isn't happy either. He thought detransitioning to live as a man would make life easier, but that decision cost him his relationship with Reeseβand losing her meant losing his only family. Even though their romance is over, he longs to find a way back to her. When Ames's boss and lover, Katrina, reveals that she's pregnant with his babyβand that she's not sure whether she wants to keep itβAmes wonders if |

Despite his differences over the issue of prohibition with former Farmer-Labor nominee William Jennings Bryan, Hearst considered an appeasement of the still-powerful force in the party to be a necessity for party unity, and focused on their agreement in opposition to the British Empire to appoint Bryan as Secretary of State. The Pettigrew wing of the party was denied appeasement whatsoever, with Hearst viewing Eugene Debs and others as undermining his own candidacy, while the rest of the cabinet was made of Hearst allies. 46 year old Massachusetts businessman Thomas L. Hisgen was selected for the Treasury Department, with Tennessee Judge John Shields chosen for the Attorney Generalship. The fiercest Senate battle would arise over the nomination of John Temple Graves, a pro-lynching editor from Georgia, for the position of Secretary of War. With the Senate's two black members, George Henry White of North Carolina and John R. Lynch of Mississippi, leading the opposition to Graves. Nonetheless, the appointment was narrowly confirmed with the intervention of Vice President Garner on the behalf of Graves.
William Gibbs McAdoo, an ally of Hearst closely tied to Georgia Federal Republican leader Woodrow Wilson, was chosen as Secretary of the Navy in the closest Hearst came to appointing a member of the other party. James A. Reed, the independent Mayor of Kansas City, Missouri who endorsed Hearst, was chosen as Postmaster General. Alabama's controversial Governor Milford W. Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat
Do your worst!
Heya
So as is tradition each year I post a little review of the AOS books I read last year. The link to my 40k books read is here, and for the handful (largely political and economic books) I read last year feel free to DM me!
A quick note on what I count as a "book" - It needs to be on Goodreads, and cost over Β£5. If it's the price of a book, I get to count it as one!
The TLDR: Go read these books: The Champions of the Mortal Realms Colletion, Dark Harvest, and Cursed City
In the comments I'll list a few stand out short stories of the year also !
This is an in-universe retelling of the life of mortal Sigmar following an excavation of grave goods from his era in Altdorf. Itβs short, and more βfluffyβ than anything serious. It contains Sigmar smearing himself in faeces, orks showing their bums, and Sigmar befriending a pig.
Itβs a fun read for what it is, but itβs so niche itβs hard to review
Blacktalon First Mark β Andy Clark
4/5
Sigmars chosen hunts nurgle knights.
Iβll be honest, a large part of this score is due to two factors. Firstly, a glimpse into early stormcast life. Secondly, a giant beetle friend who reminded me of The Neverending Story. Itβs a very good AOS novel in how itβs representative of the tone of the setting; moments of heroism and hope but tints of darkness and desperation.
The Gates of Azyr β Chris Wraight
2/5
Stormcast vs Khornites in the realm of fire
So this is one of the earliest AOS novels, and it is as uninspiring as Iβd been lead to believe. It reads like a blurb for most of it, merely outlining rough backstories at best. There is a very good segment where a khornite is forced to engage in cannibalism, lest he show weakness.
Broken Realms: Morathi
4/5
An elf snake becomes a god and invests in real estate
Twists, multiple perspectives, actions that had real tangible consequences? Yes please! A lot of the criticisms for AOS (too βnoblebrightβ, nothing changes, no stakes) seemed to melt within the 80 odd pages of narrative here. My only criticism is the length (and price!); I could gladly read much more about these events!
Sands of Blood β Joshua Reynolds
3/5
Stormcast in the realm of death
Iβm going to say something very unpopular here; I donβt get the appeal
This list consists of acts that are unlikely for varying reason. If you disagree with the placement of an act on this list as opposed to the primary list, please state so below and acts will be moved as appropriate.
The following have appeared at OSLs once before but have not released new material (not counting singles) since their previous appearance (list in parenthesis) and are therefore less likely to appear in 2022 (To date only Beck and Vance Joy have returned WITHOUT new material, making the following acts much less likely):
How the hell am I suppose to know when itβs raining in Sweden?

We told her she can lean on us for support. Although, we are going to have to change her driver's license, her height is going down by a foot. I don't want to go too far out on a limb here but it better not be a hack job.
Ants donβt even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.
But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.
I've done two of these over the course of the past year (here's round 2, which also has a link to Round 1 at the top) and they've gone over quite well, so here's a third one!
As before, this is a compilation of some of the little comics mini-reviews I've been doing in the "What Have You Been Reading?" threads over the past six months. Hope you find something to enjoy in here!

An elderly couple decides to put their faith in an experimental science program that could result in them being rejuvenated, brought to a better condition than they even were in their prime and more than doubling their lifespans.
Thatβs all I can really say without getting into spoilery territory. This is a book which unfolds gradually and deliberately, peeling back layers of character development and commentary on a whole myriad of topics, but better experienced going in as blind as possible.
Broad strokes treatment: The book is a meditation on the idea of what makes someone a human being, and the concept of leaving a legacy and how that can be a powerful drive for some people to the point that it makes them do drastic things. Itβs sci-fi meets human drama with hint of horror and itβs smartly written and strikingly drawn.
Good shit. Recommended.

A retired serial killer named Victor falls in love with a lady named Virginia. Virginia gets kidnapped by a local mob boss who is aware of Victorβs skill set, and promises Virginiaβs safe return so long as Victor carries out a couple of hit jobs for him.
Oh, and also, Virginia is a plastic sex doll.
This is a very twisted, deeply fucked up, wonderfully weird and overall pretty enjoyable horror romp if thatβs your kinda thing. The same team also released another story in the same universe called Vinyl this year, which is along very similar lines and should scratch an itch if you've a hankering for more post-Plastic.
