A list of puns related to "Christian of the Palatinate Zweibrücken"
In accordance with the Treaty of Versailles, France has the right to establish a Mandate of the Saar Territory. Overseeing the mandate, France has decided to opt for some degree of civilian self-government, in an attempt to reduce the stress and rigours on the territory of what amounts to military occupation. Governing the territory will be a 5 man council, appointed by France, to provide legislation and governance for the region. As oversight, all legislation of the body must be approved by a French administrator. For now, that administrator is General Jean-Marie Degoutte, Commander of the French Army of the Rhine.
##Mandate Council of the Saar Territory
In order to maintain order and good governance in the Rhineland and Palatine, similar bodies are being created, with approval from Belgian and American troops in the region to be asked for after their creation. We simply require a rubber stamp, and we can begin forming the provisional governments of the mandates.
##Rhenish Mandate Council
##Palatine Mandate Council
Once again, these councils will be overseen, by administrators from the League of Nations, but until such a time as that is approved and arranged, General Degoutte will be tasked with this duty.
These councils, it is hoped, will help stabilize the region in the new world order, and begin to form the basis of provisional self-government for these regions as Mandates of the League of Nations.
I was busy fighting the war. And did not even know the Palatinate was under my PU.

Kurfürstentum bei der Pfalz
The Palatinate is a prince-elector located in the heart of the Holy Roman Empire. The first Count Palatinate of the Rhine was Conrad of Hohenstaufen in 1156, but was very quickly passed on to the Welfs through a marriage of Conrad’s daughter to Henry of Brunswick. Henry’s son died childless, and the lands then passed on to the House of Wittelsbach which at the time also ruled Upper Bavaria. Through hereditary means after the death of Duke Louis II of Bavaria, the Count Palatinates then recieved land in northern Bavaria which later, as a consequence of its ties to the Count Palatinates, became known as “Oberpfalz” (Upper Palatinate, in contrast to the Lower Palatinate). However, the tradition of diving up the lands between the ruler's sons resulted in a lot of smaller fiefdoms. Later, in the Golden Bull of 1356, the Palatinate was made Electorate and recieved the hereditary offices of Archsteward and Imperial Vicar of all lands in the Empire not under Saxon law.
The year is 1502 and Philip the Upright is Elector Palatine. He is married to Margaret, princess of Bavaria-Landshut. Through her, the Electoral Palatinate and Bavaria-Landshut created friendly relations as well as an alliance. This later led to the War of the Succession of Landshut in 1504.
[M] I couldn’t find any information on who owns the Upper Palatinate. Help regarding the status of that land is greatly appreciated :)
Found this short but interesting passage that directly (if not vaguely) addresses the Primarch of the II Legion, one of the lost Primarchs. Fulgrim is about to set off on the Great Crusade with his Legion alone. As of now his legion has been depleted and he has been fighting along side Horus and the Luna Wolves. His brothers express their doubt that he and his legion are ready to fully embark on the Great Crusade alone. Taking this as a challenge, Fulgrim sets to put the first planet of the 28th Expedition into compliance with only seven of his legionaries. Further increasing the doubt of his brothers
>Only Horus shared Fulgrim's understanding. Only Horus saw the Galaxy for what it was, and understood what the Great Crusade really meant. The struggle towards perfection was the only task worth contemplating. The form that perfection took was debatable, obviously, but it must be achieved. The galaxy was akin to one of the great mechanisms he'd repaired as a child. It had been badly used, and now needed a sure hand to return it to its former precision
>
>But was it his hand that was destined to do so? The Wolf-King thought not. The others seemed to share his disdain. Fulgrim bowed his head, suddenly weary. Seven voices, raised in doubt. Seven brothers, arrayed against the eighth. Even the normally contemplative master of the Second had broken his silence to accuse Fulgrim of hubris.
>
>He snorted. There was an old Terran saying, about pots and kettles. He'd refrained from sharing it at the time. His quiet brother had no sense of humour that he was aware of. Perhaps that was why he spoke so little.
It's not much, but I found it interesting to hear about some of the characteristics of one of the lost Primarchs. Even if it was vague and minimal. We at least know that the Primarch of the II was a quiet and contemplative character who seemed already distant from his brothers.
Not much, I know, but I thought it worth sharing nonetheless.
Das Königreich der Pfalz am Rhein (The Kingdom of the Palatinate on the Rhine) is situated in one of Europe's most fertile and arable lands, with enough food to sustain their population and enough surving knowledge to thrive off of it. However, the Palatines suffer a fatal flaw. Deep tension between those know as the "Rom-Kats" and those known as the "Evanges" threaten the stability of the region and if not dealt with soon, may cause irreversible damage to the already fragile social structure of the Kingdom.
Capital: Cologne
Population: 150,000

Head of State: Richter-König Johannes Fúrer
Government: Federal Elective Totalitarian Judiciary
Anthem: Die Wacht am Rhein
After the first fires cleared away the sins of the old, reborn was the ancient peoples of the Rhine in new strength and vigor. For the first thirty years after the cleanse, the Palatines were in a state of pure anarchy. Soon after the initial chaos, came small city-states that rapidly expanded outward. A crucial turning point in this was the unification of the City of Cologne and the City of Frankfurt, both run by the children of formerly important administrators. A decision was made for the Judge-King of Cologne, Richter-König Jürgen Herman, to marry the Queen of Frankfurt, Königin Geken von Denkingen, creating the Kingdom of the Palatinate on the Rhine. The enlightened Judge-King then put to work a grand army to conquer his weaker neighbors, and firmly establishing his control over the Rhine and into parts of the Low Countries.
After his conquests was deemed a success, he soon turned to reforming the system of governance for his people. His own city was run the Judge-King, who reigned until his death. The Judge-King was elected by the High Council of Judges, who are elected by another smaller council, who are then elected by the people. Through this he made a remarkably fair society, where merit and intelligence was rewarded. Since smaller councils did not run the districts they administered, their elections were more on their qualities of being a judge. Instead councilors, who were elected by the High Council of Judg

As the title says, I am a "Christian", who has found himself lacking any form of faith in a higher power yet continuing to pretend due to a crippling horror at the concept of Hell, and seeking individuals who may have some insight. I was raised Christian, though even at a young age found myself questioning religion and the dogma surrounding it. In my teenage years, I converted to Judaism (as I felt being part of his "chosen people" might help me better understand him) and then Satanism, when I found myself completely alienated from any semblance of belief. This changed when my first wife passed several years ago, I found myself once again believing in the Christian trinity despite a very conscious and very deliberate lack of faith, and I've come to realize that this is only due to my crippling fear of hell and the idea I will never see her again (I think my study of "Pascal's Wager" had a lot to do with it). I'm really not sure where I'm going with this thread, I just feel stuck and want some form of validation I suppose. Does anyone have any experience with such things, or perhaps I'm just going off the deep end? I have no idea. If someone could speak with me, that would be fantastic.
