A list of puns related to "Characters and Observations"
So this was the extended cut, so I think maybe only one scene I talk about here wasn't in the original theatrical cut, but as somebody whose favorite supervillain is Killer Croc and felt a bit short-changed the first time I watched the movie, this cheered me up and made me like Suicide Squad more:
Like I claim in the title, Killer Croc has his own little character arc. At the beginning of the movie, he's bought into the fact that he's a monster, just totally embraced this concept. At the end of the movie, I wouldn't say he's stopped considering himself a monster, but he's beginning to see himself as a person also.
It's easy to miss if you're not paying attention. When we first meet him, Croc is in his "cell", which is really just a section of sewer under Belle Reve. He doesn't really do anything there, he just paces back and forth, wallowing in his own bestial nature. The guard makes a sarcastic joke about feeding him a double cheeseburger with onions before giving him his real preferred meal: An entire goat, skinned and raw. Waller describes Croc as "He looked like a monster, so they treated him like a monster, so he became a monster". And that's the image he's trying to project.
The thing is, the Suicide Squad doesn't treat him like a monster. Harley tries to psychoanalyze him and when she calls him ugly and he tells her he's beautiful, she agrees and reinforces that statement. Captain Boomerang is willing to tease the guy just as much as he grates on other people, not caring that Croc's different. El Diablo even shows some outright friendliness to him, although it's only a quick moment or two that you'll miss if you're not paying attention. But in the Suicide Squad, Croc finds his people. And in doing so, he finds a bit of his own personhood.
This culminates in the end of the film where the Squad's killed the Enchantress and Amanda Waller is conceding to let them have some comforts. Croc asks for BET, and sure enough, the next time we see him in his cell, it's completely different from the first time we see him in the movie. He goes from skulking around menacingly in the dark to laying on a couch, enjoying himself, watching TV and even eating a cheeseburger, real food for real people.
It's honestly really gratifying to realize that Croc had a bit more going on for him in this movie than just being the muscle. He's still not a "main" character compared to Deadshot, Harley, and Flag, but there was some real thought put into his ch
... keep reading on reddit β‘Not sure if there's an interesting discussion to be had re: title or not, just a thought I had after looking at my reddit feed. I wonder if anyone's taken a quantitative look at post types between the subs? Just seems that nearly every post on /r/DnD is a drawing of someone's half-tabaxi rogue/wizard, while nearly all the posts here are house rules, random tables, or blog posts discussing aspects of play.
So for instance The Thing, Session 9, Identity.
Especally in Session 9 and Identity I thought it really had not been that good if the main characters instead had been psychologists or teenagers or something like that. Seems to work really good for horror with characters who are shown as not so spilling-their-guts-aboud-how-i-feel chatty :)
Others probably know more movies?
I'm sure this post is probably breaking a few rules on this sub, but who cares I want to write this. This question is a bit straw man so forgive me.
You might have seen comments/ post about this topic on the various Star Wars subs and I find it a bit head scratching at times.
Where did this question comes from exactly? And how come it has only surfaced since the new films became a thing?
We had 6 movies where there were no little to no Alien lead characters. You can count the one given prominent roles in the OT with one hand probably. The PT certainly had more but even then it was somewhat limited and the focus was still on Human characters.
Is it because The Clone Was was a thing and Ahsoka, an alien character was one of the leads? Aside from the fact that the show is animated and a Saturday morning cartoon intended and can get away with these things much more easily.
Is is simply because some fans are under the impression that "new films" also means "do stuff the fans have always wanted?" As if some people go into new SW films with a big checklist of things that must happen and if they don't the movie is complete failure for not bending to the will of the fans? Or because the technology is available to have it be done much easier then it once was?
To reference our wonderfully friend Patrick Willems and his great Video Essay What do we want from a Star Wars movie? do these people just want their status of a fan to be validated by including stuff like this?
I'm not saying I'm against Alien characters in more prominent roles what I am questioning is "where did this demand come from and why are are so adamant about this sort of thing?"
Star Wars is a huge universe and can't just be filled with Humans. But as Irvin Kershner once said "Their is nothing more interesting than a landscape of the human face."
Ok I'm done. I'm not sure if there was a point to this but who cares. Back to Spider-Man. Web Slinging noises
I'm currently going through the Muppet card event and playing with Piggy and Gonzo to raise their Score Values. I thought I'd share some observations. #Miss Piggy As the description says, Piggy displays talents of singing, romance, and karate. I thought this would be one of the talents chosen and used on the board (or have them used in rotation similar to Kitten Yzma). All three are used in a random order (like Jack-Jack) during the emoji power activation. At level 5, singing adds a star to the board. Romance adds a random number of Kermit to the board who then runs away scared. Karate chops away eight emojis in a 3x3 block (the middle inner emoji is left) along one of the board edges.
Because of the Kermit connection, I'm a bit surprised this emoji wasn't made a companion to Piggy (as Mike is to Celia). Seems a natural fit given a green emoji is often picked for the board. #Gonzo The emoji power activation places Gonzo in a cannon at the bottom of the board. This cannon moves back and forth at the bottom of the screen. Tapping the screen shoots Gonzo out of the cannon around the area of the cannon (it's not necessarily a straight up shot). The vertical distance is controlled by the app. Wherever Gonzo lands, a number of emojis are cleared from the board. At level 5 it's a significant number. With the card event, if Gonzo is launched near a crate, the app seems to go for the crate often.
The round timer continues to count down at normal speed while the cannon is moving. So far, I've had the cannon glitch once to begin moving back and forth, but no amount of tapping would launch Gonzo. Thankfully the timer continued to run out and I kept the collected items.
Before going one of my biggest worries about the land would be guests mobbing walk around characters trying to take photos with them. This happened a lot with Storm Troopers in Tomorrowland, guests would crowd them and CM's were constantly trying to create space. I did not see ANY of this happen in SWGE this weekend. Characters were roaming everywhere and guests seemed to want to interact with them and not just pose for selfies, it was great! I was chilling on my datapad next to the milk stand and Klyo and his backup got right in my face LOL accusing me of being a spy! Chewie is obviously the GOAT walk around character..... saw him walk up the ramp near Ronto Roasters and poke his head above where 2 guests were eating (his face was right next to their plates LOL).....they didn't see him at first and their reactions were amazing!
So this maybe grasping at straws , but I think Levi serves as the anti-thesis to zeke not only as a threat, but also in regards to zekeβs ideology of euthanasia.
Zeke wishes that Eldians didnβt exist and plans to sterilise the remaining Eldians. Leviβs mom was also told by Kenny to abort Levi before he was born (perhaps Kenny had similar concerns to the fate of the Ackermans in this world , along with the child being fatherless, but this is just me assuming). However Kuchel went beyond the stigmas attached to her race or even Levi due to his conception and gave birth to him. This I feel makes Leviβs existence a complete antithesis to Zekeβs notions regarding Eldian births.
Maybe this observation has already been made, maybe Iβm just looking at things that arenβt there, but I wanted to share this thought here for further discussion.
These are some observations that I've noticed....they might (or might not) help.... -Grammys: 10 wins and 42 nominations....I think we need to think lower Grammy count, celebs/singers with less than five wins (BeyoncΓ© is definitely out here).
Some Costume Observations:
For the Skeleton the clue is definitely that 4261, but is it the birthdate? Maybe it references something else...think this is most definitely a male.
Likewise that 314 also is key....I forget for what celebrity, I think the Flower or whatever....no clue what that is, or how, probably a female here....
Eagle is, in my opinion the easiest to guess, but the most puzzling...his (most likely) costume references that person....in some way,
Penguin....the first clue is the hair, but who?
Ice Cream (Man?) Likely something with February....middle of the month?
Thingamajig....Black male celebrity, who can sing
Butterfly- Praying??
Rotterweiler- Some sort of hip/hop rapper/athlete
Again, these are 'possible clues' just a few I got from what I read/and vibes....I need more information to start making guesses...
Hello!
I don't know how to really word this question which has been where my struggle occurs when googling.
Inside a data step, I forgot the character to use when wanting to grab any combination of characters or words as long as "xyz" is in it. For example:
If I wanted to scour data for JPMorgan, I would have inputted something like "JPM*"
Now, if there were JPMitchell's or JPMonroe's, they would get picked up in my data step too because it has the character combo of JPM ... The asterisk is intended to act to pull "anything can go here as long as JPM comes first" however asterisk is not the right character to use here...
Thanks.
Interesting fact, none of the main characters wear glasses despite roughly 60 percent of the population requiring corrective lenses of some kind.
Hey guys,
This topic has likely been talked to death on here and this isn't going to be a post bashing The Coalition, but after playing the game since launch I wanted to share my thoughts. In the previous games I found myself mostly playing as Dom because I enjoyed the character's story and his relationship with Marcus mirrored my relationship with the best friend I always play Gears with. Fast forward to when Gears 5 released the trailer for Escape. I watched it and became interested in Mac's character. I liked the look of him (as a lanky dude it was cool seeing that reflected in Gears) and liked the Irish/Scottish (don't hate me for not knowing which) accent he had. My first thought as someone who spends a lot of time playing Horde mode was "I can't wait to hop in as Mac and use his abilities in Horde since they seem to fit well."
That's obviously not the case and the Hivebusters are strictly open to Versus and Escape. Not a huge deal, but with Horde and Escape being limited on duplicate characters it has created a few cases of wishing for more. Case in point, I was loading in to play Escape. I chose Mac and a third guy loaded in shortly after also choosing Mac. He ultimately left the lobby after a little bit and then sent me a message basically saying, "It's a shame we can't have duplicates because I'm trying to level up Mac for my brother so we can play when he gets home."
I think that sentiment can be felt along the game as a whole when it comes to characters. I know the game is still new, but it is a little weird not seeing Baird, Cole, and the Carmines as options. While in their place we have Halo Reach and Terminator characters. I'm sure all of the fan favorites will get added and hopefully all will be playable in all modes because that will hopefully lessen the issue of duplicates if they kept the characters hard locked to their skills.
I'm enjoying the game a ton and it's nice to have a new Gears of War title, but I just wish there were more options out of the box and it was a little less restrictive. I can't wait to see what they have in store for the future though and want to thank The Coalition for all their hard work on a damn fun game that has a lot of potential.

Commentators: Alison, Joel, Dan, Donald, Joe Russo
Russo: Weβve been making a lot of references to the arc of Joelβs hair... itβs looking weird today. Very short. Alison: Mine too!
Dan: One of my favorite lines of the whole season is Jimβs bit about how some of these students have been treated like animals their whole lives. I really wrote the hell out of that line.
Lots of discussions about how everyoneβs hair still looks a little off. Alison: I still look like... frumpy Annie, with the cardigans...
Dan: So we hired the writers after the pilot. And when we hired the writers, we sat down together and talked about the characters and where we wanted them to go, and we were talking about Britta, and one of the first things Hilary Winston said was, βThatβs not a character I want to be friends with.β So instead of saying, βWell, letβs correct that, letβs make her more likeable,β we were like, βLetβs lean into that, make it part of her character. What would that look like? You know, someone you donβt want to go shoe-shopping with because you feel like sheβd be judging you?β And Hilary really became kind of one of the biggest allies of that character, coming out of that conversation. And especially going into the finale, which she wrote. She was a big part of helping βsaveβ that character. This episode really makes me remember those days.
Russo: This is one of my top five episodes of the season. I think mostly because we were really starting to figure out how to move these characters through Andyβs stories. As the scene with the phone-answering lecturer wraps up: She was great! We shouldβve brought her back.
Hilary Winston is the woman brushing her bangs in the bathroom mirror when Britta and Shirley walk in!
Joel, as Britta is in the bathroom stall and Shirley is wordlessly reacting to her rants: Yvette is killing this. Sheβs kicking ass. Donald: Sheβs Chaplin-ing it. Dan: But sheβs too aggressive about getting us to mention her. Joel: Youβre right. Gillian is killing this.
Dan: I love the Dean. I love everything about him. I almost took out the βSealβs teethβ line, just because it reminded me a little too much of 70βs Wisconsin racism - Donald: Right, right - Dan: But it got a huge laugh in the table read, so I said βfuck it.β
Donald: You know, Troy doesnβt talk a lot in the beginning, a lot of which I thought was by design. Not necessarily because heβs dumb, but
I am writing a program where I need to input two distinct lines from a file into two different vector<int>
's.
Easy enough using getline(in, IO, '\n')
, but that inputs the entire line into a vector of one item. What I need to do is break the input on each comma within the line, as would be done with getline(in, IO, ',')
but still observe the '\n'
so that I can transfer the input into a second vector.
I have tried bunch of different ideas, such as trying to catch the \n
at the end of the input stream, but because the getline()
pulls until the comma deliminator, it skips adding it to the end.
I'll probably need to manually remove the commas from the string after, but it would be nicer if I could do it as I pull from the file.
Thanks.
Finally slogged through the quests and missions and have been doing the fight for a bit now. Fully merited and job-pointed THF/DNC. I started by doing what is recommended - maxing out HP as much as possible with gear and using Gandring/ Plunderer's Knife to max out native TH. Tried a few trust combos, ended up using August, Apururu, Monberaux, Selh'teus, and Koru Moru. I stay as close to the middle of the battlefield as I can.
I've been able to get wiped about one out of every three tries. Some combination of weapon skills heals her that one time. I use Eviseration/Extenterator so I can self-skillchain. Here is where it gets hinky. I had her under 30% and then she shot up to 80%. I see the compression skillchain, but I can't see what caused it (I'm assuming that's what is causing the healing).
So what am I doing wrong?
Additionally, I've been experimenting with using Plunderer's Armlets +1 for the TH3 and replacing the Plunderer's Knife with a Kaja for the added Eviseration damage. But when I do this I can't seem to get her over TH9. Using both of the TH+ knives I was getting up to TH12 or 13 occasionally. Just bad luck? I also backed off of the HP+ gear and went back to almost full Herculean. Maybe I'm wrong, but the added TP+ and other stats I have on that stuff seems to balance out the few hundred extra HP that I was getting using other stuff. Hasn't seemed to have made a difference on my wipe percentage.
And no, no gear yet. I got the earring on my first try. Nothing since. Not unexpected, but I didn't expect to be wiping 1/3 of the time.
So go ahead, let me have it. Don't be gentle. I know I suck!
The \"Ruins\" (created from the game box).
After years of sourcing, molding and costing, I am so happy that Block and Key finally launched on Kickstarter today! And I am even more excited by the reception its received from reviewers and backers alike!
In Block and Key 1 to 4 players will compete by drafting blocks from the Excavation Site (box bottom), and playing them one at a time into a shared space - The Temple Floor (box top).
What makes the game interesting and unique is that each player sits on their own side of the "Ruins" (box structure) and therefor has their own perspective of the board. It is from THEIR 2D perspective that players will be trying to complete their Key Cards for Victory Points, and also setting up their Enigma (end game bonus).
The art and graphic design merge seamlessly to help teach and remind players throughout the setup and game. The action options are depicted along the sides of the box bottom, the placement rules along the sides of the box top, and then End Game trigger down the support columns. The box top has iconography hidden in to help with set up for player count, and AI directions for solo play. You won't really notice them if they aren't needed, but they are quickly seen when needing a reminder!
The deluxe Kickstarter launched today (Feb 17th, 10 AM EST) and is already fully funded. I wanted to drop this in here to let people know that if they pledge for a copy of the game ($42 USD) in the first 24 hours of the campaign they get the Day One Backer Bonus of having their name printed inside the game box!
I hope you are interested and would consider stoping by the Kickstarter to check out videos and more on the campaign page. If you have any questions feel free to post them below! :)
I absolutely loved it and just discovered it trough gamepass, hoping for a second installement some day. I don't post here often but I was really wondering what others thought.
- Every invigilator is about ninety-five, but whenever someone puts their hand up for more paper, it's the 100m exam hall sprint between Gladys and Doreen.
- Constantly turning the air conditioning on and off
- The head of exams repeating the same spiel every day to the extent where everyone can mouth along to what she's saying "Good morning Year 11. The exam you will be sitting this morning is Chemistry. If anybody has a mobile phone, smartwatch or web-enabled device something something something..."
- The human crush we have to endure checking what our seat numbers are in the lecture hall when we drop off our bags
- AQA, Edexcel and other exam boards deliberately writing questions in a way to try and trip you up, thus trying to stop you from actually doing what you want to do in the future
- A question about using plastic bleedin' straws in my Economics exam
- The English Lit exams having actually decent questions meaning the grade boundaries are through the roof
- The five months of revision I've done for Biology, Chemistry, Physics, etc. to be rendered pointless in two months when I start my A-Levels in English Lit, English Language, and History
- Having a clash meaning I have to be isolated as I do three hour-and-45-minute exams in a row with 10 minutes in between. This gets worse when you learn I will have to be escorted everywhere, be searched before I go to the toilet and having to take the bloody wrapper off my water bottle in case I use the make-up of Harrogate Spring Water in a question about The Battle of Hastings
- Scally teenagers in my Maths exam reeking of cigarette smoke while I'm trying to multiply brackets
I could very easily carry on - this is how exciting my life is at the moment, the mundane becomes the fascinating in that 10 minutes or so at the end
EDIT - Removed a few mentions of buzzwords in Economics exam point that got it removed last time.
EDIT 2 - This is my most upvoted post ever! Thank you so much :)
