This is Billy Bonka. In addition to being born with cerebellar hypoplasia, he also has a bum right eye. The docs opted not to remove his eye when he was younger because he still had partial vision. Hi, I hope it's ok to post a question here:)
My friend's cat has moderate cerebellar hypoplasia and functions very well overall, is the cuddliest etc.
For years he has been peeing around the house. He does use the litterbox too and never really poops outside of it. Just ALSO pees outside of it - mostly by the door, the windows, and the radiators as well as whenever he's left alone. But there are often some surprise locations too...
He used to have "small" kidney stones problems years ago but received meds and has been fed special urinary problems food since. Most importantly, last month's very extensive vet tests came all clear and she was leaning towards it being a behavioral issue.
We thought maybe it was due to:
- other animals in the house (I took him to my flat for over 2 months where he was the only animal and it still happened everyday)
- insufficient number of litterboxes (tried 2 in a small-ish flat, the 5 for a short time and he still peed outside of them. Additionally, I was working from home and able to clean the litterboxes right away)
- wanting to go outside (we're still testing this one out but so far he's not a great fan of leashes and while he seems to enjoy being outside it didnt seem to affect peeing)
He's a great guy but we're very lost. Has anyone else dealt with anything similar?
