A list of puns related to "Brazilian jiu jitsu ranking system"
It seems that as the sport of submission grappling gains popularity, the line between GI and NOGI seems to grow wider and wider. Grapplers are starting to solely specialize in NOGI and even making careers (and real money) as professional grapplers. Leglock positions that aren't even allowed in gi are not only the great equalizer, but the current metagame at the highest levels of competiton. Even with all that, the NOGI ranking system for the most part is still predicated off of GI training (exception being 10th Planet) at most academies. My question that I bring up for debate here is: Is it time for NOGI grappling to have it's own ranking system separate from the GI?
My system arrives tomorrow and I'm worried it might get ripped out or lifted during a sparring or rolling session.
Oh and before anyone states the obvious, yes Iβm very boring to talk to.
First I would like to apologize for my poor English as I am still learning. I am wondering if am I too old or out of shape to start Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?
A bit of my background. I grew up in an Eastern European country where my Dad was a Sambo champion. He starting teaching my brothers and me at a young age, until I was 12. It stopped because I got into a fight with some kids at school. There were 4 of them and I hurt them very badly and with permanent injuries. One of the kids was the son of some big shot so we had to flee the country.
We found ourselves in the Midwest of America where I took up wrestling and proceeded to win many accolades. I eventually won a scholarship to a Division I university where I wrestled there before being banned for testing positive for performance enhancing drugs "at levels neve seen before".
I'm 24 now and since then, I've been spending time lifting weights at the gym for hours everyday. My current numbers are squat 635, bench 425, deadlift 550, and power cleaned 315. Also, I can barely run 10 miles without getting tired. I thought I'd try something new because it's getting a bit boring.
I was thinking of coming to YOUR gym and training there but could you tell me if I'm too old or out of shape to start?
Also, I'm a black belt in Judo.
Is this a first in AEW?
Hi all,
I've been a type 1 diabetic for 20 years (I'm 37 now). Through most of this I've been training BJJ/MMA and I go to the gym 3+ times a week.
My A1c is 6.5mmol/L which is pretty good but I have been getting way more super high spikes regularly. Most commonly after breakfast (it's not uncommon for it to rise to 18+ before dropping back down) and I have problems with insulin before bed. I have to split my dose (some with dinner and some a couple of hours later so I don't hypo).
While the doctor is fairly happy overall I really want to avoid these crazy spikes (for the first time in years I need to back for a 6 month eye appointment as opposed to yearly).
The doc feels that I'm really doing as much as I can with insulin pens (Novo rapid and Levemir) and the only step to take is an insulin pump.
In theory, I really like the idea of a pump for controlling my blood sugar levels but I'm not sure if it will be practical given my lifestyle.
I've been told to look at the Medtronic 780G and the T-Slim but I have some:
I'm not really sure what my question is, really, does anyone have any experience with these activities while using a pump? And recommendations/suggestions?
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read. :)
I studied Tomiki Aikido for many years and developed the ability to apply waza against martial artists from other style, for the last 5 years I have been focusing on BJJ but try to mix in my Aikido as much as I can. Here I am using Ude Hineri to enter into a Kimura Plata finish. These techniques are optimized for sport but can certainly be adapted to other contexts. I personally feel because I learned ude hineri from aikido and use Breathing power, one pointed focus, and whole body power to accomplish all my martial art that this movement falls under the category of Aikido but I am happy to entertain the opinions of respectful detractors.
Hi guys just wondering are there any BJJ/grappling clubs in the city of botevgrad. Gonna visit some family in September but it would be nice to train while there.
I know some of the bigger cities have bjj but was wondering about this one
Hi! I'm moving to Ottawa, and want to start no gi BJJ. I was wondering where the best places in town were for no-gi specifically. Thanks!
I am trying to find videos of Japanese jiu-jitsu against Brazilian jiu-jitsu but I can't find anything about the subject
Hey just wondering if anyone here does Brazilian jiu jitsu and If anyone knows who the highest ranking BJJ practitioner is with dyspraxia. Also if you could tell me your rank and how you find grappling with dyspraxia I would be really grateful.
Hi all - pretty much the title is all. I am looking to take BJJ classes in the next few months, but have no experience. Also would rather not be the only woman there if that is an option.
Thanks!
Hey Chatt,
My kids have developed a great interest in taekwondo. I'd like to pick up a similar interest so I can share it with them, but would prefer BJJ over taekwondo.
Do you have recommendations for local BJJ training for a COMPLETE beginner?
EDIT: Thanks for the advice, all!
Can Christians learn a self defence like brazilian jiu jitsu as long as it's not spiritual or too violent?
I want to avoid crappy cash grabs.
Edit: I'm located in San Fernando Valley, LA, CA, USA
