Anyone born in the late 90's with baby boomer parents who insisted 'computers were bad' feel completely stunted in this technological age?

I keep seeing all these people doing incredible things with technology and computers etc and all I can think about is how I was CONSTANTLY told that computers and electronics are a waste of time, and that academics were so much more important, and that I should be out helping in the yard and even occasionally that I'm a 'spoiled little shit".

I love my parents, they provided for me but I feel like I had all these passions that were completely stunted by their lack of foresight into the future. Not to mention being sent to a private school made me feel additionally inadequate trying to focus on cool new things and electronics where I was encouraged to pursue violin and good grades.

Now I'm behind, I feel at odds with myself trying to pursue what I wanted to as a child, I'm constantly anxious, there's no bloody future for me, my brain has developed all these traits at odds with themselves and further development, all the things I was interested in I was always partially encouraged to do, so long as it was parent approved and lead me in a particular direction.

Is this my parents or just my brain lmao.

I was born in the early 90’s and grew up on Tupac, Nas, Big L, Wu Tang, Pun, Snoop and all those guys. I used to be a mad oldhead who hated this β€œnew rap”... NOW I think Young Thug is the greatest hip hop artist of ALL TIME and will argue it to the death. It irks me when oldheads make fun of Thug

I used to be an angry β€œold head”. When I first heard Thug in 2015, that all changed.

The things that Young Thug does with his voice, I don’t think anybody can do. HANDS down he’s got the greatest FLOW of all time. He commands the beat, the beat doesn’t command him. The way he weaves in and out of pockets of the beat is fucking incredible. The way he changes the pitch in his delivery while simultaneously flowing in and out of pockets is jaw dropping.

I mean seriously, he is the best vocalist I’ve ever heard in rap. Just stop and think for a second how difficult it is to do the things he does with his voice and STILL make it sound good. The average person even if they could flow like that, they’d sound shitty/out of breath delivering it. In addition to this he’s always changing his tone. People don’t realize how hard it is to COME UP with these flows/rhythms let alone rapping them. It takes imagination.

Everytime I see a old head hating on Thug now, I have to stop and give my 2 cents.

My absolute favorite example to show them is β€œGET HIGH” feat Snoop Dogg.

Just listen to how Thug flows and how it advanced it sounds.. then listen to Snoop’s verse and understand how BASIC that flow is. Snoop is basically just staying on beat, bar to bar. It sounds like he’s rapping a line, then another, then another... a lot of people can do this. Thug sounds like he’s ALL OVER the place commanding the beat and sounds fucking amazing doing it. Guys if you rap yourself, you’ll understand how hard it is TO EVEN COME UP WITH THESE CADENCES.

β€œBut the Bentley coupe missing, the stash on the curb Watch the city go missing, the young nigga ran off with lil biddy birds”

how can you hear this mans flows and originality and say he’s garbage? I don’t get it man

YOUNG THUG THE GOAT. Hands down. Idgaf.
