A list of puns related to "Biomedical Engineering Society"
Note: I used Biomedical Engineering merely as an example.
I have a pretty good GPA but I have gotten no work experience nor have I done any non-athletic extracurriculars during my undergraduate studies. I don't really like my major either as I never really specialized in anything. I feel like I wasted the last 4 years by not having my priorities straight and picking a weak major. Do you think that it would be more worth my time to stay in school and pursue a second bachelors in a more specialized degree while doing relevant internships or to try getting a job in industry with a blank resume?
Hey! Friends. I hope you're all doing great and somehow enjoying your life. I am Mehak, a student of Biomedical Engineering from Pakistan (Asia). I am part of the Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) by IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineer). I will be graduating in the coming November of this year and I would love to share my experience with the EMBS, as a student this society has benefitted me a lot!
I would love to invite you all to International Student Conference 2021 by EMBS Chapter and its registration is FREE!

Thanks :)
Hey guys, I hope you're all doing well. I just wanted what are the top 15 schools in the US for Biomedical engineering specifically. What should I be looking for in a school if I'm certain I want to study Biomedical Engineering?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
hi guys! iβm currently in sixth year and i am hoping to pursue a career in biomedical engineering. i was just wondering if any of you could help. i am nervous to put biomedical engineering on my CAO especially because of the maths aspect of engineering. i know UCD provides a lot of help for its students (which is kind of why i want to go, i feel reassured if that makes sense). also in biomedical engineering is it more maths than science or is it an even balance?
thank you!
First off, I have searched for other threads for people in similar situations with little luck. I hope that I can get some insight, guidance, and advice by making this post.
I am currently a 5th year PhD student in biomedical engineering, scheduled to complete my degree this summer. A few months ago I came to the conclusion that wet lab work is not for me, and I would much rather be on the analysis end of things-- which led me to bioinformatics.
I have taken introductory coding courses in undergrad (Python, MATLAB, Java) but overall I am lacking much of the computational skills required for bioinformatics. I have been trying to brush up on my coding skills (primarily R and python) and doing practice analyses on Rosalind and other websites. Also, I was lucky to have the opportunity to part-time intern with a bioinformatics team at a company my family member has ties to, but they have mostly been showing me how to run pipelines on their software rather than directly coding. I have spoken to them about this and will change soon hopefully.
I will likely start applying to companies in early summer and I can't help but feel that I am running out of time and not making enough progress to replace a proper bioinfo degree. I am under immense pressure to finish out my PhD strong while simultaneously self-studying an entirely new discipline and completing my internship.
Before applying to jobs I hope to have completed RNAseq, WGS, and GWAS analyses and share my workflows and skillsets on a github profile. Also on my to-do is networking with bioinformaticians on Linkedin to start getting my foot in the door at some companies.
Am I on the right track? Has anyone here been in a similar situation? Advice is greatly appreciated. Feel free to DM me too.

The Biomedical Engineering department (BME) is hosting an open house in the LBME building this Thursday, January 20th from 4-6pm for any students interested in the major and related student orgs! The event will have tours of the new facilities and allow you to meet current BME students and faculty. Plus if youβre looking into undergraduate biomedical research, there will be a students/faculty group chatting about opportunities to get involved. All students are welcome to attend.
Hi Everyone,
I'm a US citizen living out of Atalanta and unfortunately don't have Georgia residency and I don't know where to post this, so I figured out people from the city itself might help :)
I'm kind of confused and I need to apply soon and I'm confused about the department of biomed, which is said to be for both.
If you can answer the question, or refer me to another subreddit to ask, that would be great!
Saw some posts on gradcafe posted by those who have gotten an interview invite. They said the PhD virtual visit is going to be held Jan. 14. If I havenβt heard any updates yet, is it safe to assume the worst?
TIA
I signed up yet I donβt know exactly what biomedical engineers do? (Long story: originally went to be a BMET, thought I was gonna be a father and went for the BA etc etc turns out not my kid.) Can I get examples or what I should focus on in school that will be used a lot in the field.
I know it's still really early, but I haven't seen anyone applying to these programs in the subreddit yet, so I was wondering if anyone had heard back with interview invites or acceptances from these programs:
Domestic (US)
International
Thank you all, and best of luck to everyone applying this cycle!! :)
Hi everyone, I'm asking this question for my brother who is applying to uottawa for next fall. He's wondering if he should apply into electrical, mechanical or biomedical engineering, he still doesn't really know what each one does exactly in life but heard that biomedical engineering doesn't have a lot of job opportunities after doing an undergrad.
What are your experiences in these programs and did you have a hard time finding a job in the ottawa/gatineau region?
Any advice is appreciated!
Thank you!
I recently graduated with a biology degree. After research in the biomedical field, I realized that is what I wanted to pursue. Has anyone had this transition? What can you advise me? What should I do before starting a master's in biomedical engineering? What are the differences, any difficulties you experienced?
So, I asked about undergraduate some time ago and quite a few people said to look at biomedical engineering. Since Iβm I need to fill in my OUAC application, I am thinking of going to YorkU then transferring to UofT or Ryserson as they have biomedical engineering programs. What courses should I take to get on track and what types of jobs will I be able to find in the future?
Guys I just Google it where to study biomedical engineering as an university interchange, hmm so here's the deal, as i can see there's no bachelor degree on Germany just master's and PhD. So what i supposed to do? I believe isn't possible to do an interchange from Mexico to Germany studying a bachelor degree to set master on Germany Indeed. Any idea?
Help. I took pure bio in Os and H2 bio in As. I really wanna get into biomedical engineering NUS but the website says that you need o level physics at the minimum (which I donβt have). But I read that thereβs a bridging course for physics that we have to take if we get in so is there even a possibility to get in? :( oh manz should have taken physics but my interests changed. Any help from those who got in or those who know anything abt the course wld be greatly appreciated!!
I've been dreaming of going to a good graduate school for my entire life, and I've known for a while that I want to study biomedical engineering. I got into this originally because I realized something was off with my mental health in late elementary school but I could never figure out what it was. I started reading a ton about mental illness and decided that I had some obscure form of depression or anxiety. The issue is, my parents didn't believe me because they've never really seen mental illness as a legitimate issue. That made me really mad, so I started to look into neuroscience instead of psychology in an attempt to prove that mental illness is real in a more concrete, non-soft-science kind of way. I've been reading books about this since middle school and that's led me down the medical imaging route, which I would need a biomedical or electrical engineering degree to practice. My life goal is to improve medical imaging to make mental illness more easily diagnosable and make diagnosis more accurate. (Ironically, even though studying mental illness has been my "life-long hyperfocus," I never even seriously suspected ADHD was the primary issue until a few years ago and was only diagnosed a month ago)
I've been dreaming of going to John's Hopkins for grad school for a while, and everything besides my GPA looks pretty good. I started doing research on a bioinformatics lab as a freshman and am currently in the process of getting hired in an MRI Lab at a different university that has a very good reputation in the biomedical field. The issue is, my GPA is definitely on the low end of what they seem to accept and part of me is thinking about giving up. Right now I have a 3.29 as a sophomore but there's a very good chance I'll get a D in calculus this semester which will bring it down to around a 3.1. It's very frustrating because I know I'm a smart person and a lot of my friends are very surprised by how low my GPA is and by how poorly I do on tests. It's even somewhat common for me to act as an unofficial TA in some of my classes. I know I'm more than capable of understanding the concepts, but while I'm trying to cope with my ADHD and figuring out what medication is best for me, studying and time management is extremely difficult and it's making college much harder than high school. Am I crazy for still hoping I have a chance of getting in?
Pretty much as above, doing my undergrad in biomedical engineering, planning to go to med school.
Hi all!
I'm currently doing my final year of my masters in Biomedical Engineeing and have decided to do the project on 3d printed prosthetics, mostly with a focus on how they can help children with prosthetics needs or those without access to conventional prosthetics.
My question to you all Is have you seen/found/investigated/or perhaps printed any prosthetics of any kinds, and if so do you have any suggestion for me to print and study in our labs in University?
I have access to both STL and FDM printers in the university and access to PLA, ABS, and some access to flexible filaments if needs be.
I'd also love any recommendations on what specific things to investigate with regards to printing them that you think I might have missed, or any suggestions for ideas you thought might improve 3d printed prosthetics (such as annealing or maybe additives to the process) that you have been unable to look into personally.
Thanks!
While I understand that what you do depends on how much you do of each subject, I'm curious to what percentage of Biology and Engineering fits in to your job.
We are the McMaster Engineering student ambassador team, and we will be hosting AMAs throughout the school year. This week's AMA will be hosted by Melanie, a second year Chem and BioEng student. She'll be answering comments on this thread all weekend!
Go ahead and ask me anything you'd like to know about Mac Eng, McMaster in general, research awards, co-op, courses, or anything else!
Is biomedical engineering a growing field in Dubai? Letβs say someone earned a biomedical engineering degree abroad and wanted to work in Dubai, would it be easy or hard for them to find a job?
Sorry if this is a stupid question iβm not very educated on this matter.
Things like artificial organs, artificial prosthetics etc would it be haram? what about memory prosthetics and chips in your brains, things that could help dementia patients. is it haram?
I am in high school and I am interested in the biomedical engineering field. Should I start studying and gain background knowledge now, or later?
Computer Science, Engineering-related electives, etc.
Hello guys, as the title says is it possible to do msc in biomedical engineering, after bsc in math and cs. I have had success in high school competitions from biology on national level, now I want to somehow connect all my passions.
