A list of puns related to "BioShock"
According to Jason Schreier insider information, Bioshock creator next game is in development hell:
>In 2014, BioShock director Ken Levine shut down his studio to start a smaller company. Eight years later, nothing has come from it. Half the founders have quit. This is a story about a video game auteur whose management style has hurt a lot of people:
so i will probobaly get shit for this but i personally enjoyed bioshock infinite more than bioshock 1 and 2. mostly due to the world and the gameplay mechanics, and the story was intriguing too. anyone else?
Just finished BioShock
Video games are art. They always are referred to as it and it was a struggle to get to that point.
Iβve seen games come out since 2008 that are little quality compared to this game.
The game feel dated and older but the atmosphere and story are complete art and have changed the fps. I loved the game so much. It felt like a great period piece and it felt like a judgement to society and the selfishness of mankind.
The game play is amazing. Itβs dated but is very good and the big daddies are so much fun to mess around with. The twist is also great and the best thing about the game is the atmosphere of Rapture. Only hearing about how amazing it was before and only seeing how horrible it is now is amazing. The world building in so well done.
The ending was my only problem. The boss battle was so easy and the little cutscene afterward was small but rewarding. Overall it was a very great way to compel that video games arenβt just something for kids. It was simple, effective and overall an amazing experience
Someone mentioned Bioshock in another thread, and it reminded me of this.
When Bioshock 1 came out, my first playthrough was totally evil. The Little Sisters were modelled like weird little gremlins and not very endearing, and after murdering one orphan, the tenth isn't anywhere near as difficult, much less the twentieth. The ending where the splicers take over the surface world was kinda boring, and Bioshock quickly faded from my attention.
When 2 came out, I came at it with expectations of the same: little shit gremlins full of XP guarded by rad boss fights. Then the game pulled a fast one on me, and introduced the system where you guard little sisters as they collect from bodies. I didn't notice at first, but the effect was taking place.
I finally noticed like two hours into my playthrough, when after killing a few others, my Little Sister was acting differently. She shrank away when I approached after collecting. Her voice lines were more fearful.
It was when she quietly muttered "I've been good Daddy, I promise" Then it finally cracked me.
I didn't grow up in an abusive house. Far from it, I'd say my parents were wonderful, and by leagues and miles, I won the lottery being born to the family I had. I love them dearly. But my dad has anger issues, and I remember coming home from school and walking on eggshells, afraid of setting him off.
I just couldn't do it. I deleted my save, and started over.
The Little Sisters are much better modeled this time around, and look outright adorable after you save them. They sing little songs. They smile and hold their arms up when you come to pick them up. Their barks of "Daddy!" and "Save me!" during collections sparked a fire in me to protect them like no other escort NPC has. When one just passively said "I'm telling all the other girls I have the best Daddy!"
It hit me.
I paused the game, and just fucking cried. I'm tearing up right now, just writing about it.
I think that might be the most visceral emotional response a game has gotten out of me. I just needed to share after seeing 2 get brought up. And I'm curious if anyone else has had a game do this to them.
Just finished replaying Bioshock Infinite. probably my 5th replay, but the other 4 were all close to when it release. This is one of the best games I've ever played.
I was younger, dumber, naΓ―ve and what have you. I used to play it for the bang bang, and a little bit for the story, but not much. There was so much I missed by just playing the game going in guns blazin'. This time around I went in relaxed, enjoying the world, reliving memories of when I was younger and all I did was play games, and how games from those days are way different from today (damn, this is what it feels like to get older), and the game felt even better. The world is so carefully built, there was so much love put into it. It plays so well, being able to shoot and use powers freely is so good.
It's not a perfect game, but if you want a story focused FPS that's different than the usual military, please give this game a try. In fact, that's true for all 3 Bioshock games, but I always preferred Infinite because of it's brighter atmosphere (I'm not into horror).
While I am recommending this game, I would like to also get some recommendations. What other games do you guys think I would like?
And also, if I could ask for a specific element I really like is to have moments like the ending to Infinite. Without spoiling, but scenes where the game basically turns into a movie, but without taking away the control of the player. I know there's a lot of walking simulators out there that are kinda like that, but I don't necessarily want the whole game to be like that, and also walking simulators tend to have a slower paced story than how the ending of Infinite is. Anyway, I hope I was clear enough, but we can continue to chat on the comments.
Thank you for reading!
So I was really never into fps games. Up until recently I had never bothered to play anything like that, it just never appealed to me. One of the reasons was that the adrenaline rush you get with these types of games was a bit too overwhelming, considering I had NEVER played any game with a mouse before. Back in 2020 however, I decided that I wanted to try new things and do other stuff. I started with Minecraft ( Obviously I did); I could go in Creative or Peaceful Survival and have a lot of fun. Then I started to look into other games, and gradually I began to feel more comfortable with shooters. After that my venture into the abyss led me to play the FREAKING AWESOME game that is Mirror's Edge (yes, I am very much aware it's not a shooter, it's a PARKOUR GAME, but whatever, shut up; I liked it, okay? There's a little bit of shooting in it as well).
I had heard of Bioshock before from a lot of other people. I saw the reviews and the gameplay of the Original Bioshock and kinda liked it so I got it. Unfortunately I didn't play it through. I was still new to the fps genre, and the fact that I was playing in Easy and having a hard time, combined with the fact that I had such a BAD laptop that the Game maxed at 30 fps in LOW RES, I just ... gave up. I remember the part where we first heal a Little Sister from the meds that doctor lady gives us, and that's it. I stopped.
Recently though, I got an upgrade (yes, I am choosing to call and 8 gb ram laptop with an amd hd 8690m graphics card an "upgrade", because it FREAKING IS), and so I decided to play the third installment of the game: Bioshock Infinite. Why? Because it looked freaking pretty, that's why!
I LOVED this game. I loved how it touched so many things, and how, despite the sci-fi going around it managed to perfectly blend the era of 1920s America along with it. I loved the setting of Columbia and genuinely enjoyed the magnificent scenery it provided. The story was freaking incredible too. I loved the religious aspect of it all, I loved its themes of poverty, slavery and racism. I personally enjoyed the character of Elizabeth. Other games would just stick with "damsel in distress" and give her as much as love as they would give an NPC (with an addition of large bo- ahem! Balloons), but Elizabeth is generally very helpful during battle. I can't count how many times I had no ammo or low health and she was right there to help.
The story was a solid 9/10. I give it 9 because the ending felt a little over
... keep reading on reddit β‘We've had 2 full games and both DLC for the 3rd game devoted to Rapture. I truly believe we've had enough. I know for many people Bioshock = Rapture, but it doesn't have to be that way and I don't want to see such a great franchise become it's own enemy because it can't move on.
"But there's so many possibilities with Rapture!".
True, but that means there are even more possibilities outside Rapture, and I don't see anyone beyond the most die hard fans not getting bored of the franchise if it keeps revisiting the past.
Here's hoping the rumors of the Antarctica setting for 4 are true, sounds amazing!
I've recently started replaying Bioshock 1 and ever since RE4 VR, I couldn't stop thinking about how great it would be to see Rapture in VR. From a technical standpoint, it doesn't seem too difficult. Melee combat wouldn't be too bad as the wrench could operate like the knife does is RE4 VR. As well as this, Bioshock isn't the most graphically demanding game, so I'd wager that the Quest 2 could run it.
But could you imagine it? Wandering through the ruined halls of Medical Pavillion before firing a lightning bolt from your fingertips and clouting a splicer in the head with your wrench? Or using telekinesis to snatch an enemy grenade mid air and launch it back at them? Or even using the normal weapons like the revolver or rhe chemical thrower? It's a game that's crying out for a VR remake.
So who's with me on this? Who else believes Bioshock could, and should, be remade by Armature into a VR adventure below the sea?
After a post from u/bebesworld regarding the next game from Ken Levine's new studio, I've searched Twitter for BioShock hashtag and found a pretty much empty account posting information about the next game in the BioShock series, including an early version of the logo and a slide from the pitching presentation. All of this could be fake but I found it worth to share. So as always take it with a grain of salt.
In the first post from November 17 this user claims that he leaked an early logo variant for the game, indicating that the project may be subtitled as "Isolation". He also provided some obvious details like dystopian city setting and Unreal Engine 5. According to him, the game will be announced in the first quarter of next year and will not be a PS5 exclusive as rumored earlier at the XboxEra podcast.
Going deeper into the details posted by this user, he declares that it will be an open-world game with linear story and minimum amount of backtracking, "innovative sandbox combat" and immersive sound design, factions system in an entractive world that will change as you progress, all of this was discovered earlier in the studio's job listings if I'm not mistaken. He also states that some of Hangar 13 empoyees were transferred to help Cloud Chamber after their cancelled project "Volt" and 2K worries about the quality of the final product.
He also posted what seems to be a slide from a pitching presentation of the game that describes the concept of an in-game city, actually two cities, with radically different ideology, where one of them located underground right below the other, both sharing a "flipside" border zone with an unleashed "vertical war".
UPD: RalphsValve also tweeted about it
I bought the Bioshock collection on sale back in October and started playing the first game just recently. I'm in Arcadia at this point. I'm not sure how far into the game it is, but I've put about 4 hours in. It's the remastered version on PC if that matters.
I like its concept and its aesthetics, but I find that the story is very confusing. Even after reading up on the lore I still barely have any idea what's going on. It feels like the gameplay really only consists of getting spammed by enemies every time you walk into a new room. At this point I'm about ready to give up on it. I usually like story-driven FPS but this one is just not clicking with me, even though it seems to be a nearly universally acclaimed game.
Is there something about it that I'm just missing? Or is it just not for me?
Edit: Please don't just downvote because you're a fan of this game. I want to enjoy it, too!
VGC are reporting that Bioshock 4 will be set in an arctic city called Borealis during the 1960s. And it's developed by the studio known as Cloud Chamber, scheduled for a 2022 release.

Holy shit is this game fun. I have never experienced a game like this and man is it fucking fun. I pacified a Rosie earlier and it charged towards me at like mach 10. Absolutely shit my pants. I'm at the part where I'm gonna go to the weird artist dude. Cannot remember his name.
During the recent AMA, Todd was asked about the cut underwater Vault in Fallout 4 and responded:
> Unfortunate cut content. Bioshock style Vault. With massive sentient octopus living outside it. -Link to comment
I thought this was a pretty interesting revelation worth sharing. Such a shame it was cut.
I dont get the hate for the second game, it has improved mechanicks and a interesting story, yes its inferior to the first, but i actually like it better than infinite, god humor as well, so there is a whorehouse on the second level, theres a room where you gotta pay to open a window so you can open the room from the outside, when you get in and hack a safe, there will be a enemy staring at you trough the window, hey!, what is this uggly fucking fuck? im still crying, loving this game, also happy new years!
