My recent mail call, a 1940 Vatican 5 Lire, has a mintage of 100,000. It shows Pius XII on the obverse, with a cool reddish toning, and I really dig the design of St Peter steering a barque on the reverse.

St. Peter was an apostle of Jesus Christ, as well as the first Pope. Around 64 AD, he was sentenced to death by the Romans, and was taken to Vatican Hill. He allegedly asked that the Roman soldiers crucify him upside-down, since he believed that he was unworthy to die in the same manner as Jesus

A Man Dies, Goes to Heaven and stands in front of St. Peter
St. Peter looks at the man and informs him that Heaven has standards and to get in he must name one heroic deed he has done in his life.
The man replies
"That is very easy. One time I saw a women getting harassed by 4 big bad bikers. They were yelling lewd comments at her and grabbing her. She was very scared."
"What did you do?" St. Peter asked.
"I walked up the the biggest one and slapped his face and said if you want her you have to go through me you bastards."
"Wow that is brave! When did this happen?"
The man looks at his watch. "About 20 minutes ago."

St. Peter Hospital Healthcare Workers Underpaid amid Over Capacity filled units. We donβt have enough staff to care for the amount of patients that are presently coming into the hospital.
The βTowerβ (Inpatient Units) floors 3-11 are full of hard to place patients that the case managers have to place in skilled nursing facilities or inpatient rehabs. Because of this when someone comes into the ER they have a longer than usual wait time to get admitted into the ER. After that if you have to be admitted into one of the units in the βTowerβ for further specialized medical treatment the wait time is much longer 10+ hours either on a stretcher in the hallway or if you are lucky enough a room in the ER. Once you eventually get admitted into the βTowerβ you are faced with a care team that is critically burned out and understaffed, in EVERY department (Environmental services, Registered nurses, IV access, phlebotomists, physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and many more.) resulting in a lapse of quality patient care and delayed healing and therapy time. I am not only blaming just this hospital but the entire healthcare system is going through the strainer right now. But, Providence hasnβt taken steps to alleviate these issues such as financial methods of retaining staff or hiring agency therapists/ members of the care team.
If you are a patient or a family member my advice to you is to request a copy of the units daily staffing plan, which you have the legal right to request as stated in the Nurse Staffing Committee laws that were remodeled in 2017 in Washington State. If you feel your / your family memberβs care is not adequate please complain to the hospital administration or spread the word that staffing is not safe at St. Peter Hospital in order to promote change in policies or procedures in order to promote a safer experience for everybody patient or care team member alike!

After a long while of discernment, my wife and I will be joining the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter
Iβve been discerning this path for a while now, with my wife discerning it more recently. Weβve recently decided that it is the path for us, all the Glory to God.
As converts from Protestantism, this feels like the home for us. We can keep the good aspects of of our faith that brought us home to the Church, while also embracing the fullness of the faith and fullness of Catholic doctrine.
We are just now beginning the formal process, weβre not sure how long it will take, but we are very excited!
Edit: Just to be clear, we are already Catholics; we are just transferring out of our Dioceseβs jurisdiction into the Ordinariateβs.

Can some one please give me a rational reason for st. Peter of Damascus to say flute playing is a (evil) passion...
I'm on volume three of the philokalia. Personally Id say the 8 enumerated passions from volume one surficed. However, st. Peter of Damascus expands to 298. Most seem reasonable however...
Flute playing?
I don't know if this is a call back to the cult of Dionysus or he's just lifting off of Plato's hate for the flute. Thing is as compared to prior patristic writers he isn't as dependent on Greek platonic terminology.
So yeah...
