A list of puns related to "Bard College at Simon's Rock"
Just got a letter in the mail from this place I'm in 10th grade and thir saying they could start me in college early is it bull what are the cons
Iβve been seeing a lot about this college and I personally am not a fan because I just donβt think your old enough to really succeed in college and get the full experience at that age. Whatβs your opinion on it?
Got some emails and a letter from them. It seems really interesting and totally my thing, probably wonβt happen though. But I was just wondering if any of you had an opinion of them?
I can see that theyβre rated highly and such but I want to hear from some people if they know.
GPA Weighted 4.24, Unweighted 3.8 Extracurriculars: Mary Poppins Musical and Run a Neighborhood Daycare. I wanted major in Economics and Computer Science/Chemistry and use their 3-2 program with Columbia.
I just got a letter from them about some weird "Start college at age 16" thing. Anybody heard of this?
I created a college for my bard to make him a little more in your face, and a little less on the sidelines. Hope you all enjoy.
Bards of the college of metal, also known asΒ slayers, are rambunctious, yet loyal. Vulgar, yet respectful. Brutal, yet honourable. When they enter a tavern, the barkeepΒ keeps a keen eye on theirΒ demeanor out of respect and fear. Will the bard'sΒ chords of powerΒ loosen purse strings for another round, or will it insight a brawl? The angst that their presence exudes amongst the establishment is one of the slayer's greatest strengths. Second only to the company that is bound to them.
In the great halls ofΒ K'vlt, amongst the scrolls containing the original chords of power, sits the most sacred of texts, theΒ Metallica. Inscribed within its pages is a description of the ancient dwarven methods ofΒ Corna. Corna is the marriage of runic and bardic magic, which allows a slayer to tether the souls of their relatives to theirΒ axe, or guitar. When an axe enchanted in this way is played, the bound ancestors are summoned from beyond the grave toΒ shred,Β wailΒ andΒ thrashΒ alongside their kin. Their presence grants the slayer strength, and bestows power within their axe's chords.
This is why a road is never lonely for a slayer. It is common for theΒ calledΒ to not return to the ethereal plane. They instead journey alongside their kin in anticipation of the nextΒ slaying, or gig. The greatΒ Red Road, as the search is colloquially called, is not an obligation, but infatuation. An addiction, brought on by the adrenaline that pumps through a slayer's veins when they sling metal. It stays with them even in death. Thus, unlike other colleges, the College of Metal has no school grounds only the Red Road, the libraries of K'vlt, and oral tradition.
Not having an actual home pushes slayers into a lifeΒ of solitary. It's a lifestyle that most can't stand. That's why slayers typically have a dark past. One that pushed them into the dangerous, forgotten areas of society. Areas that parents have labeled asΒ pits, and warn their children to stay away from. OnlyΒ monsters dwell there. It's these areas of society thatΒ lore masters of metalΒ frequent. Lore Masters are the elders of the College of Metal. Those that have thrashed for a generation, and seek outΒ to guide the nextΒ to the Red Road.
Although most tales that revolve around the reasons for their visits to the pits, are dubious, one can't help but wonder which are actually true. Some believe they enter these forsa

The Forge Cleric can create a nonmagical, metal item worth no more than 100 gp.
If the Forge Cleric uses the Bard's iron to make a suit of steel chain mail, does it disappear when the iron would have or has it now become permanent because the cleric turned it (the iron) into a new material (the steel)?
Follow up: Can a Forge Cleric use the Battle Smith's Steel Defender as the material to make chain mail? The Artificer makes the Steel Defender out of nothing each day.
I'm not trying to break the local smith's economy. My party is playing Curse of Strahd and we're low on resources.
I'm planning on being in the front lines and assisting our tank. I'm thinking of going 6 lvls deep into bard and then either going with the said Fighter Battle Master or Warlock Hexblade. Booth of them fit the character more or less fine. I suppose that it might be too late to multiclass at lvl 7 and I could use some advice on deciding between the BM and HB.
FYI That's my first time multiclassing, although I'm experienced enough (at least I think so)
The party is currently lv 8
The half-orc bard in my homebrewed Eberron campaign, Sonora has a wisp-powered 'electric' guitar and a violin crossbow
In an encounter during last night's session, the party had a plan to use the artificer, Mux's homonculus and the guitar transformed into the dancing item to cause a distraction so the others could sneak around some Flying Horrors. The party asked if I would allow Miikorix the homunculus to ride on the guitar, since the dancing item had a higher movement speed and Miikorix was tiny, I allowed it but on the condition that if the Dash action was taken, Miikorix had to do a Dex check to stay on top. Miikorix engaged the Flying Horrors and the dancing item immediately booked it, long story short, Miikorix fell off but got on again in time.
During all of this, Sonora kept following her dancing item to make sure they were safe and eventually got seperated from the party. The main party was stuck having to deal with boss creature while Sonora grabbed the attention of a few of the Flying Horrors. She got frightened and kept running which resulted in her taking a lot of damage from the Horrors. I don't fudge my rolls but somehow all the Horrors were missing her even with advantage. At the same time Miikorix and the Dancing item were attacking the Horrors that were on them.
After getting over her fears, she managed to reunite with her guitar and needing a few ft of movement to hit her target while not using her movement speed, the player asked if Sonora could mount the guitar like a hoverboard. I was skeptical about it so I discussed with the rules lawyer of the group about mounting and encumberance of a construct.
Apparently, the Dancing item has 18 Str so we agree that the guitar can support Sonora's weight. Using the same rules I had with Miikorix, I had her roll a Dex check to see if she was able to stand upright on the guitar and attack with the condition that the Medium sized guitar could only move at half movement speed. She rolled an unnatural 22. She was on low health, standing alone on her guitar against a group of Horrors, ollie-ing over the Horrors attack as they all missed.
She held off the Horrors for a few turns and even used her Relentless Endurance feat to survive, but she was downed with one hit. The Dancing item continues to attack the last remaining Horrors that downed Sonora since it can still move after the Bard is Incapacitated. The party successfully fended off the creature and the sorcerer a

It'll be very lighthearted, so silliness is welcome. Ideally they'd be organized by Skill, so PERFORMANCE would be a category of classes much like ENGLISH would be at a real college. So PERF 150 might be "The Art of Seduction".
Hey, wonderful people of the D&D community,
I attempted to make a bard homebrew subclass for 5e. It may not look like the most original content but i would really enjoy to receive your criticism(as violent as possible) and feedback.
Here it is...
Bonus Cantrip
When you join the College of Rock at 3rd level, you learn the βThunderclapβ cantrip. If you already know this cantrip, you learn a different bard cantrip of your choice. The cantrip doesn't count against your number of cantrips known.
Power Chord
At 3rd level, you learn how to use the thunderous tone of your music to physically effect other creatures. When you cast a spell that deals thunder damage, you can expend and roll a Bardic Inspiration die. If you do, the spellβs damage roll gains a bonus equal to half the number rolled(minimum 1) on the Bardic Inspiration die and any creature that took damage from the spell must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failure, a creature is pushed a number of feet in a straight line away from you. A roll of 1-4 pushes the creature by 10 feet, 5-8 by 15 feet and 9-12 by 20 feet.
Disorienting Verse
At 6th level, deafening melody that you chant numbs your enemiesβ reflexes. Whenever a creature takes thunder damage from a spell that you cast, you can immediately expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration. If you do, that creature canβt take reactions until the start of itβs next turn.
Destructive Roar
At 14th level, you can add your Charisma modifier(minimum 1) to the damage roll of any spell or cantrip you cast that deals thunder damage. The damage bonus applies to one damage roll, not multiple rolls.
Additionally, your spells and cantrips that deal thunder damage deal double damage to objects and structures.
I'm playing in a horror campaign and thinking heavily about subclassing into College of Spirits, largely for thematic and RP reasons. It feels like a perfect fit for my haunted one bard.
However, I'm feeling a little turned off by the requirement of selecting a spiritual focus (candle, crystal ball, skull, spirit board, tarokka deck). I would very much like to maintain my instrument as my spellcasting focus (for character reasons), but ideally still get the d6 benefit of channeling through a spiritual focus? It looks like the requirement of a spiritual focus is mostly just a thematic thing, but I could be mistaken.
Is this a reasonable ask to go to my DM about? I was thinking there may be a middle ground to reach. Eg, we have a haunted harp in the campaign so perhaps I could restring my bard's viol with the haunted harp strings (which isn't realistic but I mean this is fantasy).
For a free PDF of the content below (which looks nicer) check it out on dmsguild.com
To add it to your dnd beyond campaign check it out here
Or if you just want to take a look at it here, I copied all the rules below. CC welcome, as I am actively improving the college! Thanks!
At 3rd level, a bard gains the knowledge of a bard college. Here is a playtest option for that feature: College of Metal.
