Scrolling through my news feed I see this young fellais after creating his own start up and securing a million euro in seed capital.
Unreal. Fair play.
Turns out this comes off the back of winning the BT young scientist. "Deep Fake detection". Again, fair play. Another bit of looking and it's handy it picked that project because it seems his Dad is a computer programmer with interest in that area.
This seems to be rife in the BT young scientist awards with numerous winners from backgrounds of privilege reaping the rewards.

Its a joke really, the genuinely creative and talented kids that cant rely on nepotism get shafted. Era whats new there I suppose but by rights this competition should be weeding that shit out.

im grinning so hard im so proud of them. their first american “daesang”. they looked so shocked and so excited. yoongi even gave his speech in korean!! i actually was introduced to kpop through bts during their amas debut four years ago, so this feels like a big full circle moment!!
The other nominees were Drake, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, and Ariana Grande!! I can’t believe they won i’m really so so happy and proud of them
(i’m writing this quickly because im in biology class so sorry for any mistakes) after bts won artist of the year at the AMA, i’ve been thinking about how some fans (locals and antis too) think that bts are trying too hard for western validation or that they should stop “chasing awards” and i think this is ridiculous. i dont see people reacting this way for other artists. i do think there’s some xenophobia involved in this too.
bts can want awards because it’s part of their job and what they do for a living. so why not get recognition and trophies for it? how are they chasing awards when they’re being nominated for them? when they released butter earlier, they were accused of trying to get another grammy nomination because they lost for dynamite. i wish people would stop being so negative. they have way more western fans than they used to. bts releasing english songs does not mean they want validation. they are the biggest boy group in the WORLD. american/english speaking fans are not the goal. they were already successful before dynamite, they are just bigger now.
they obviously don’t need a grammy to prove it, but that would be nice, right? it’s a big achievement for music artists. they already have a large collection of awards and a grammy trophy would look nice up there. so it’s not that serious. people like to win. it’s just human nature.
