Weβre all human. And there are plenty of people out there who are better human beings than the average police officer.
There is no reason they deserve more legal protection than anybody else. Particularly if they were not on-duty.
They risk their lives often. But thatβs their job. And, in case you didnβt know, thereβs a million people that want that job. Can you imagine how nice it must be to harass and belittle people all day? Now thatβs the life.
Bottom line, being a government official and/or a police officer in particular should not mean your life is more valuable and therefore your assault/murder should be punished more severely.
P.S. I think that when officers commit crimes, they should be punished more severely than regular people. They took oathes that they then broke.
