Anti foundationalism Puns

I.e. how much could be learned by borrowing analogous concepts from epistemology to political philosophy and vice-versa?

I ask this question with people like Nietzsche and Foucalt in mind. Both cut down the foundational structures of their environments and both (at least, most of the time) resist being called moral relativists in the extreme.

I can see how a religious person can get away with it. They could say, "Morality exists, I am not a moral relativist, but only God knows exactly. As such, humans can never know what the proper foundation for morals is."

But how can you get past this from a secular perspective? A normative ethic exists but we can never know? How is that different?

I am well aware that I may be thinking about this completely wrong. If so, please correct me I would really appreciate it.

To define my terms:- Anti-Foundationalism: One who rejects any concrete foundational beliefs from which truth, morality or ethics can be drawn. (e.g. "increase well being", "There is a material body we can probe scientifically")- Moral Relativism: No moral claim can be valued over another.

Can you "escape" moral relativism without constructing an unjustified foundational premise?

EDIT: I should note that my definitions are flexible. If you think I am in error there please correct me! I don't want you to interpret them as constraints. My motivation was to tell you where I'm coming from.

Foundationalism VS Anti-Foundationalism: Which one are you and why?

Foundationalism: Wikipedia, SEP, IEP, Princeton, Encyclopedia Britannica, UNC

Foundationalism concerns theories of knowledge resting justified belief upon some secure foundation of certainty. Its main rival is coherentism, whereby a body of knowledge, not requiring a secure foundation, can be established by the interlocking strength of its components, like a puzzle solved without prior certainty that each small region was solved correctly.

Identifying the other options to be either circular reasoning or infinite regress, thus the regress problem, Aristotle found the clear winner to be foundationalism, which posits basic beliefs underpinning others. Descartes, the most famed foundationalist, discovered a foundation in the fact of his own existence and the "clear and distinct" ideas of reason, whereas Locke saw foundation in experience. A foundation reflects differing epistemological emphases—empiricists emphasizing experience, rationalists emphasizing reason—but may blend both.

In the 1930s, debate over foundationalism revived. Whereas Schlick viewed scientific knowledge like a pyramid where a special class of statements does not require verification through other beliefs and serves as a foundation, Neurath argued that scientific knowledge lacks an ultimate foundation and acts like a raft. In the 1950s, foundationalism fell into decline largely via Quine, whose ontological relativity found any belief networked to one's beliefs on all of reality, while auxiliary beliefs somewhere in the vast network are readily modified to protect desired beliefs.

Classically, foundationalism had posited infallibility of basic beliefs and deductive reasoning between beliefs—a strong foundationalism. Since about 1975, weak foundationalism emerged. Thus, recent foundationalists have variously allowed fallible basic beliefs, and inductive reasoning between them, either by enumerative induction or by inference to the best explanation. And whereas internalists require cognitive access to justificatory means, externalists find justification w

I'm having a hard time comparing the two concepts, especially in relation to epistemological issues. I have started with Plato, including the Allegory of the Cave, to shed some light on foundational principles, but how would thinkers, such as Derrida, Nietzsche, or Foucault, respond to his ideas?

I guess my main problem is understanding the mind of the anti-foundationalist: What does it mean to "deconstruct" a belief and allow for "freeplay" (Derrida)? How would Nietzsche define "truth?" Un-centered meanings? Is it possible to answer these questions without forming a foundation of our own?

I've proposed a great deal of questions, but these are the musings swimming around in my mind at the moment. I'd love to hear from any anti-foundational/post-structural thinkers out there.

And think about this, when crypto actually gets giga-huge in the future , he is going to have A TON of influence on public opinion. Imagine if someone like Warren Buffet started talking about reversing aging and had all the knowledge we have about longevity? Well, that's going to be Vitalik in a few decades when he's a multibillionaire and he's extremely ubiquitous among everyone including all the normies. Shit like this makes me wayyy more optimistic that we are actually going to reach longevity escape velocity. There is going to be a hype phase around this shit soon, just sit tight guys. So after years of being fed up with every matte foundation I tried just sliding off my face moments after application and coming off when I hugged people, I finally picked up the Estée Lauder Double Wear in 1N1 and it WORKS, y’all! It stayed on my face all day long and didn’t budge, I even touched my face a couple times during the day to see if it would rub off and nothing! I am so thrilled I could cry. True life-changer.

That being said, the only downside I noticed is that when I applied the foundation with a damp beauty blender, it almost immediately settled into the three fine lines I have any issue with on my face: my forehead lines. Granted, I’m 25 years old and I’m usually not even super concerned about the lines because I am just a naturally expressive person, so it doesn’t surprise me that I have fine lines there, but it does bother me that the foundation sinks into them because otherwise it’s absolutely perfect.
