A list of puns related to "Americans in North Korea"
Recently, I have found this news and have mixed feelings about what has been accused by this defector. Basically, she was surprised and claimed that America's language controlling environment and brainwashing to be concerning. She said that she thought America to be this country that supposedly protects free speech and critical thinking, instead she finds the university that she is enrolled in, Columbia, teaches her to think what they want her to think, instead.
I am usually pretty skeptical of media reporting but especially I realized that she was interviewed by Fox which some might consider as a red flag, as well.
As an educator in Asia, where English is a third language too, I would agree with her, that speaking in English as a non-native might be a little black-and-white thing for us, which means that we would use a "he" or "she" to describe a singular person, rather than they. But at the same time, I understand that America, as an English speaking country, has a more complicated relationship with language, as my country too with my native language. But this is just an example, her concern also includes the emphasis on pronouns and trigger warnings.
So, I would like to get third-person American opinions here, free from Fox's anti-leftist views: Is this a reality in America's higher educational institution? Are you guys more concerned with policing language rather than teaching critical thinking as a general policy? Are professors in America like this in principle, or is their teaching lefty because they're pressured to do so?
Thank you.
I currently live in Asia and want to go on a tour in North Korea. I have dual citizenship. Dutch and American passports. I know Americans are not supposed to travel there, but canβt i just use my Dutch passport and everything will be fine? Or will I face issues upon returning to the USA or issues in NK?
Kim Jong Un becomes American-ified out of site. Right after this transformation, he makes a public appearance and speech.
Round 1: What the title says, Chad Jong Un speaks fluent Korean with an American accent.
Round 2: Chad Jong Un does not speak Korean, but still has his brain.
Bonus round: Same as round 1, but an American man who speaks OK Korean appears with the body of Kim Jong Un and the two must try to convince the country who the real Kim Jong Un is.
