A list of puns related to "Akan language"
Greetings.
I'm making a project in my college and i would be very grateful if you could help me with Akan language for it.
In fact what i need is source of most important texts in Akan language.I'm asking for exact examples of texts, or some resource where i could find most important ones. This could be anything, but it's preferable for texts to be natively made, not translations, but however if there's not much of native texts translations are also welcomed.
Thank you in advance!
Anyone know if anything has been translated for Twi speakers?
I wouldn't even know how to start searching.
Thanks all.
Hey guys,
So the scam had not happens yet. But my helper is very insistent that her Caucasian lover is sending her millions worth of cash and jewelry and wants to pay $5000 to 'retrieve' it from customs.
I guess due to the nature of being a domestic helper, she is very unaware of scams and it is very difficult to explain to her given her grasp of English.
We have tried explaining that no cash exist and the photos are all fake etc., But she is rather convinced that it's true.
We're thinking of bringing her to the police but I'm not sure if they're of any help. Does the police have Indonesian speakers or resources available to provide counselling?
edit: thanks a lot for the resources provided, we got her to visit the Indonesian website, some translated text below, and also some friends who can speak to talk to her, and she finally understood what was actually happening.
Terima kasih

A. Introduction (with best examples of the drama's quirky visuals and excellent cinematography)
Okay, full disclosure ... I love Lee Young-ae more than any other Korean actress, and "A Jewel in the Palace" is the K-drama I love the most. I've watched most episodes of "A Jewel in the Palace" and "Saimdang" (Lee Young-ae's 2017 drama) five or six times already. Whenever I feel depressed about life, I rewatch Ep. 6 of "A Jewel in the Palace" (the episode when Jang Geum was >!exiled to the herb garden!<).
Why do I love Lee Young-ae so much? She's, of course, beautiful and talented. She's also intelligent β she graduated with a degree in German Language and Literature; she got her master's degree in Theater and Film; and before she got married in 2009, she was pursuing her PhD. She's also a well-known philanthropist:
[In 2017, she donated around 92 thousand US dollars to the Yonsei University Health System for the treatment of child cancer patients and for the underprivileged.](https://www.hellokpop.com/news/lee-young-ae-100-million-won-yonsei-university
I've been watching Encanto recently (3 weeks ago), and it got a lot of good song. One particular song, "We Don't Talk About Bruno" is a fun and catchy one. The Indonesian translation version sucks, but my curiosity tells me to click on the Malay version few minutes ago, and oh boy, what an amazing translation works by the Malay team.
YouTube link for the songs:
> It's a heavy lift with a gift so humbling
> Always left Abuela and the family fumbling
> Grappling with prophecies they couldn't understand
> Do you understand?
Here you can see they rhyme the first 2 lines, and decide to use the same word for the next 2 lines.
> Beban hidupku terasa berat
> Membuat keluarga menerka-nerka
> Percaya pada sebuah ramalan tak jelas
> Mengerti kah kau?
It's a direct translation from the English version, and it's wrong. Look at the first lines, it's supposed to refer to Bruno's gift, why does it translate to "beban hidupku"? It's like they don't even try.
> Siksanya ada bakat yang mengundang
> Sentiasa membuat keluarga kecundang
> Pabila menyampaikan ramalan tak terang
> Bak kata orang
Superb translation. Even better than the English one.
Another example.
> He told me that the life of my dreams
> Would be promised and someday be mine
> He told me that my power would grow
> Like the grapes that thrive on the vine
Same as previous lyrics comparison. English version doesn't try to hard to rhyme every bots.
> Dia bilang mimpiku akan jadi nyata
> Suatu hari nanti
> Dia bilang kekuatanku akan tumbuh subur
> Di pokok anggur
I'm not even sure if they're trying to rhyme, but that was a really bad direct translation, even if it rhymes.
> Katanya hidup yang ku embuh
> Akan subur dan termeterai
> Katanya kuasaku 'kan tumbuh
> Bak anggur yang kian berjurai
Not only they rhyme the end line, they even rhyme the mid sentences words. Fucking A game.
All Malay version of Encanto songs also have the same amazing wordplay and rhymes. They're not afraid to steer away from direct tr
... keep reading on reddit β‘I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat
Do your worst!
How the hell am I suppose to know when itβs raining in Sweden?
Mathematical puns makes me number
Ants donβt even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.
But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.
I don't mean "What's the worst translation" I mean literally, what VN is so bad that no matter what language you're reading in, how quality the translation, the story and the characters are just awful. From bad art, or maybe good art with awful story full of plot holes and inconsistent characterization. What is the absolutely worst VN you've ever read?
For me I have two major contenders. Koi Iro Chu! Lips and Koiken Otome Revive. Honorable mention to Minecraft: A True Love 2 but that was a meme game to begin with, so doesn't really count in my book.
Koiiro was just... bad. The characters were uninteresting, and the attempts for plot were so contrived and annoying that I still get pissed whenever the name comes up in conversation. The tsundere is tsun for dumb reasons, the majority of the events are just ?? to the point where I actively wiped memories of the majority of the routes. Except one. Misaki's route, only because >!her route has a token lesbian who is also in love with the heroine. This plot point is so bad that the lesbian makes the MC agree for a threesome, in which the MC just watches and "forgets to join in" for completely no reason. Words can not explain how ??? this whole series of events was.!< Do not recommend reading.
Koiken Otome Revive was a different experience altogether, being the fandisk to Koiken Otome which was a straight 5/10 for me, so blandly average with some bad stuff that was only balanced out by the existence of Yves. However the fandisk decided hey, you know what little character development for 3/4ths of our main heroines we had? I wanna spit on it and stomp it into the ground. The most agregious of these was Akane's after. Where they >!take her main motivation from the main game, that she achieved, and made her go "actually this sucks I wanna housewife and quit my big important job.!< If you actually liked Koiken Otome and was sad the FD is untranslated... don't be. Unless you like Yves it's not worth it. I rated it 2.5/10 with 2.5 of those points being that Yve's after is actually pretty good. Dunno where that good energy went with the rest of the game though.

I'm surprised it hasn't decade.

Now that I listen to albums, I hardly ever leave the house.
Don't you know a good pun is its own reword?
Two muffins are in an oven, one muffin looks at the other and says "is it just me, or is it hot in here?"
Then the other muffin says "AHH, TALKING MUFFIN!!!"
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!
We told her she can lean on us for support. Although, we are going to have to change her driver's license, her height is going down by a foot. I don't want to go too far out on a limb here but it better not be a hack job.

But thatβs comparing apples to oranges
I was inspired to write this post because there has been a disturbing lack of quality posts lately. Whatβs more, everyone seems to be riled up in too much circlejerking. In order to prevent this sub from becoming an echo chamber, I thought that I could contribute by making a post which can briefly explain how Indonesia βoperatesβ. I think that itβs important because most people here view Indonesia in a way that is not much different from how foreigners do, which only scratches the surface.
This superficial view, which in many cases is a gross oversimplification, is detrimental because you end up not comprehending how or why the elites of Indonesia, i.e., the government and stakeholders, act the way they do. I believe that most people this subreddit takes a Jakarta-centric view of how Indonesia operates, which is why everything seems chaotic. Jakarta is not Indonesia. Most of the people in charge of this country are Javanese, therefore foreign and domestic policy must also take into account Javanese concerns.
Furthermore, the majority of the people here can be categorised as secular, liberal, nationalist, or belonging to an ethnic and/or religious minority. Many people donβt have a good understanding of Islam and of Muslims. I donβt think that non-Muslims here know much about NU and Muhammadiyah, nor of commonly mis-used terminology such as Salafi, Wahabbi, and so forth. This is dangerous because, again, it leads to gross oversimplification and you will fail to understand what is the relationship between Islam and how this country operates. Ignore this at your peril.
I hope that this post can at least offer you a new perspective on how this country works.
This post will be divided into several sections:
Indonesia is not an easy country to understand. Both foreigners as well as Indonesians frequently have wrong assumptions, especially when it comes to government policy. A simple example is the governmentβs decision to move the capital into Kalimantan. Foreigners and many Indonesians may find it baffling, but for the Javanese, who make up 40% of Indonesiaβs population, it makes perfect sense.
Non-Javanese often remark that Indonesia is a Javanese Empire ruled from Jakarta. This assumption is not entirely wrong, but it is a gross oversimplification. For starters,

Edit: Thank you guys for the awards, they're much nicer than the cardboard sleeve I've been using and reassures me that my jokes aren't stale
Edit 2: I have already been made aware that Men In Black 3 has told a version of this joke before. If the joke is not new to you, please enjoy any of the single origin puns in the comments
