What is this?: This is a bi-weekly feature designed to highlight the unknown/underappreciated groups and soloists working hard in the Kpop world that often fall under the radar. Please share your own information, favorite performance videos, fanmeet stories, or anything else relevant below!

In the last roundup we got to know the Brave Girls' little brothers, DKB. This week let's check out a girl group that has their roots in a kidol group but who has grown into a surprisingly prolific mainstream group, let's get to know Hi Cutie!

What is Nugu?: While in Korean it literally means 'Who' in the broader Kpop context it refers to groups that are generally unknown amongst the greater public. It doesn't have to mean they're extremely new, though it can, and there are of course varying degrees of 'unknown' which some groups having very strong niche fandoms and others being almost invisible. I take a fairly broad view and will include groups that may be known to some, but who don't have widespread name recognition.

Who are they?: A four member girl group under Space Music Entertainment. Three of the four members were formerly members of the kid group CutieL which also gave birth to several Busters members. Upon debut as Hi Cutie the group was considered a tween group with an average age of 13, however the current lineup has an average age of 17 (IA). Their fandom name is Bellus.

Company: Space Music Entertainment has an eclectic mix of entertainers including DJs, Comedians, soloists, and actresses. They were the home of short-lived girl group Solia as well as presumably current girl-group Like Me. In addition to their artists they're active in performance and live festival planning for a variety of genres.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

I recently shared a spotlight about Iggy Yongbae. There's a whole other side to Iggy's career as a producer that post didn't go into though, namely his work in the OREO crew. I've been curiois about them for a while, but they really got on my radar this year when they did IU's Lilac, and Yukika's Insomnia, two songs I really liked that released just 2 weeks apart. So I figured it was time to really dive into their discography, and see what they've been up to.

You probably know their name from Fever, or from their work with groups and artists such as LOONA, UP10TION, Chungha and Park Boram to name a few. Musically they do a bit of everything, but I'd say they often live somewhere in the nostalgic and retro space. Everything from orchestral and bright pop songs, to tropical EDM though, so there's a bit for everyone here, whatever your tastes. So, if any of that piques your interest, or you're just up for finding some new music in general, read on. Might find some new songs, or rediscover some old favorites!

#Introduction

OREO is a 3-man production crew, founded in 2016, by producer Iggy. The name is a play on words of 오래오래 (for a long long time), hoping to convey the message "let's make music for a long time". In addition to writing and producing music, they also teach at Seoul Arts College.

The Members:

Iggy (이기) Real name: Lim Su Ho (임수호)

Aliases: OREO 1, Lee Gi, Yi Ki, 3B1. Also part of the production duo Iggy Yongbae. Reportedly very inspired by swedish producer Max Martin.

C-no (씨노) Real name: Jo In Ho (조인호)

Aliases: OREO 2. Also occasionally writes and performs music himself. Seemingly 4 tracks
