tips for survival would be appreciated. idk why i do this to myself
Is doing AP Research/AP Seminar as impressive as doing any other AP (ie. not too impressive, just another day in the park) or will doing these two classes make you stand out and look good on college apps and stuff. I've heard AP Capstone is looked at favorably, like an IB class, but I am not sure whether this is true or whether it sets you apart.
First of all, I know MOST scores for AP Seminar came back today. Congrats to everyone who took the exam, that itself takes so much initiative.
You probably don't believe me. As someone who is now about to be a senior in highschool and has finished 8 ap's and has 5 more to go. . . . AP Seminar was one of the classes that has required THE MOST work and effort and has had THE LONGEST exam and requirements I have ever witnessed. The fact that you took the initiative to write 2 papers, 2 presentations, and complete 2 different additional timed ap exams is crazy! Give yourself some credit, no matter what you got (1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5), go celebrate, get some icecream!!
I just want to come on here and say that no matter what you got on AP Seminar, its just going to go upwards from here. I suggest that since you have gone so far, give AP Research a shot, regardless of your score on AP Seminar.
The fact that you completed AP Seminar literally goes to show...... you can write, you can analyze, interpret stimuli, present to people, you have defense skills, you can do writing in timed pressure, you can analyze perspectives, the list literally goes on.
Now your next step is AP Research. AP research is tough. It's a lot of work but it was lowkey sm more fun than AP Seminar bc I got to use my creative ability in AP Research. Regardless, you will have to write a 4,000-5,000 word paper (my paper averaged to 30 pages bc it was scientific) and do a 20 minute presentation. . . . . . . but THE GOOD NEWS ISSSSSSS I HAD FUN. I got to venture so much into the field of engineering and I learned so much and you have a large timeframe but DONT PROCRASTINATE. AP Research seems so tiring at first ( reminder #2: ayo dont procrastinate), but you're gonna get through it, I honestly thought it was sm easier than AP Seminar. Dont believe me? I got a 3 on AP Seminar my freshman yr and I just finished the Capstone program with a 5 on AP Research (reminder #3: I procrastinated, and I am here to say that you should not)!!!!! Trust me, if I managed to do it, there is NO WAY you will not manage to do it either (last reminder: ayo dont procrastinate).
if you ever need help or some words of encouragement, just reach out!
Last thing.... I am a big fan of research and I have been doing it since 8th grade sooooo I have a website under construction rn with a bunch of AP Research and research resources which I will be sure to share asap.
ANYWAYS, REGARDLESS OF YOUR SCORE GO CELEBRATE- you di
... keep reading on reddit β‘Is this bad? How much studying will I need to do? Will I ever have free timeβ¦ should I do anything over the summer to prepare? I took honors English last year, Chem honors, AP Prep World History last year, and a comp sci class last year.
I took stat and human geo freshman year and never had homework. I took seminar AP world and ap enviro sophomore year when all my classes were online, and ended up procrastinating everything and becoming a lot of work, but if I worked in class I would have 1-3 hrs homework a night. How much work will next year be?
So first of all sorry idk what i can post or not. Anyways, i'm a rising junior who's going to take AP Seminar next year, and AP Research in my senior year.
I won't reach the prerequisite (score 3+ on 4 AP tests) until the end of Senior year. Am I still eligible for the AP Capstone Diploma? Like, can I use it on my college applications? I can't tell based off the College Board website. Thanks!
Title. Pros and cons of the class?
Does AP Capstone help in applications, especially in applying to really selective and or ivy league schools?
course selections start tomorrow for me so i'm just curious what other people's experiences were?
tbh i'm 60% interested in the class, 40% want a gym waiver so i don't have to go to gym. did anyone have really strong opinions on it or just advice in general? it seems like the kind of class you need to have an idea for a project going into it (which i do not have, unfortunately), so i'm feeling a little iffy. i'm also taking 4 APs not including this so i just want to make sure my schedule is actually feasible lol.
ty!
pretty much title. Is it actual research you could enter to the ISEF or something?
hey guys! i'm a freshman and one of my teacher brought up that we have to do an AP Capstone project sometime in junior year? Could someone explain what it is and how the experience was like for them?
the reason i ask this even though ive seen plenty of posts about ap mark related rescinsion already is bc your ap capstone research mark is based on your project and paper that youve supposedly been working on for the entireeee fvcking year, which makes it seem more important, compared to other exams where its like youve taken the class, you have class mark, you learned the material and the exam is just a 3 hour add on thing. since our ap research class mark cant be based on our paper its already been finalized, but our ap mark wholly evalutes our paper, whicth i was supposed to be working on since november and its supposed to be a huge thing with a formal presentation and then our teachers throwing a formal party to celebrate. yet my paper is the most bullshit you can get without violating actual academic rules sooooo idk i feel like a paper as bad as mine shouldnt exist
In my sophomore year in high school and going to junior year and I got the paper to pick my classes for next year. I was thinking of doing ap research and ap seminar for the ap capstone diploma. However I not sure if I should do it. I just wanted to know if it worth doing it ? The main thing I want to know is if the diploma will give me a better chance of getting into any college because if not then the diploma is pointless.
Idk why public speaking is a huge chunk of the AP exam Iβm so freaking fracking nervous ughhhhhh. I canβt tell if Iβm just a terrible procrastinator or have like executive dysfunctionβI only started practicing this morning bc the various nights before I was anxious and kinda wanted to forget about it. I know that I can do well, but I canβt tell if Iβm gonna go overtime and Iβm suffering because of myself :,,,) Anyways I canβt wait until 2 hours from now when Iβll be free from my most emotionally tolling class for this year. I wish good luck to any current or future Capstone Scholars!! This is definitely not meant to scare anyone away from the program but Iβm being frank when I say this will be a rollercoaster for people who like to put things off, even if youβre an intelligent kid.
Hello guys, I'm a student for the AP Capstone program for AP Research. My topic is to depict a correlation between Instagram Use and Body Surveillance. Please take my survey :)!
Hey everyone!
I am currently a senior in high school and I am taking AP Capstone Research. I am currently conducting a study on the social media application, TikTok. If you have some spare time, it would be greatly appreciated if you could fill out my survey. You will also have the chance to win a $25 Amazon Gift Card. Thank you!!! The following link is the Google Forms survey: https://forms.gle/CsfjPkiewmrzL8oHA
Hey, y'all! I'm a student in AP Capstone, and I'm studying brand marketing and workplace environment in the cosmetic industry for my research project this year. I was wondering if any of you were willing to help me out and take my survey? I am especially looking for employees/former employees who have worked in the cosmetic industry because I need more participants in that group, but everyone who is 15 years and older is still always welcome to participate in this study.
Thank you so much in advance, all responses are greatly appreciated!
If you are interested, the link to the survey is down below :-)
Hi, my survey is about exposure to LGBT representation in media. All I need are respondents over 13, from the United States. I know this might get lost in this subreddit, all answers are completely anonymous unless you opt-in for an interview. Thank you so so much!
EDIT: Updated link with the changes for clarity (spacing, clearer wording, etc.)
My survey is aimed towards high school students and is about their attitudes towards history and how it is taught. I don't necessarily need it to be shared in AP history classes, or even history classes in general, since I am aiming for as many responses as possible. If any teachers here are willing to share my survey with their students by Monday, it would be a massive help for my research paper; each teacher who shares it means dozens of new responses for my survey. Also, anyone who is him or herself in high school is welcome to respond.
Here is the link to access the survey. Thank you!
Hello! If you are in 10-12th grade, I would appreciate it if you could take the time to be a part of my survey for AP Capstone Research. Its anonymous, and it deals mostly with music preference.
Instructions:
To participate in this study you must complete ONLY ONE of the four survey options. Select the survey link that corresponds to the genre of music you most prefer. Answer the questions honestly after listening to the songs presented.
Thanks so much!
I know that it's important, but I dont know how to qualify how important it is. Any advice??
Good afternoon everyone! I was curious about whether or not I could have 10-20 adult amputees take a survey for my AP Capstone project for my high school! My topic is on whether biomimicry can be used to improve upper and lower extremity prosthetics in order to allow amputees to perform certain tasks such as grabbing and climbing again, as well as more comfort and flexibility for the amputees! The survey is 2-3 questions and will show 2 designs for a prosthetic (one will be an original design and another will be a design using biomimetics). Thank you so much for your time!
*edit*: So quick thing, the idea of the survey isn't these exact designs, but more of their capabilities! So like, normal prosthetics have their functionalities but when I included the other prosthetic designs with biomimetics, it's more of a way to show the abilities that I wanted to include in a prosthetic, so I thought of the creation of the tentacle prosthetic that has already been made! Of course, that wouldn't be the design in a final way, but the suction ability is what I tried most to include! Sorry for the confusion, I couldn't find any other prosthetics with suction near the fingers, though my drawing skills aren't the best so I wasn't sure how to indicate this! Thanks so much for your time! I'm just a senior in high school trying to learn more about this topic since I want to do biomedical engineering in the future! Thanks! :)
I know that it's important, but since its so new, I dont know how important it is. Any advice??
Edit: sorry! There's an autocorrect spelling mistake in the title that I dont know how to get rid of.
I got really depressed for a good few months and had no energy to do anything for my first two quarters, now midterms are next week and the marking period ends on the 15th and quite frankly I'm lost. No surprise the more I worry and think about my flunking the more depressed and anxious I get, then the cycle repeats once more.
I do have a therapist, but I've just started seeing them so theres no connection and communication isn't on a consistent basis which is also inconvenient but obviously they have plenty of other patients. I've never been a 3.0 student, but I'd at least not like to flunk in my Junior year of HS
Looking for advice from my peers. I've never actually wanted to die so much in my life.
So Iβm a Sophmore taking AP Seminar and recently Iβve heared stuff online that a lot of colleges donβt actually care about the AP Capstone diploma. I asked my teacher about it and they said that colleges actually think it looks really good. I tried looking it up online to see which colleges actually accept Capstone but I couldnβt find a concrete answer. Is there anyone who took Seminar and Research that knows if colleges actually care?
Hello! I'm in Capstone Research and I did a project on fast fashion and art activism. The seasons are changing, and I really need to get these responses in before March. So if you can, I linked a google form that will take only 10 minutes to complete.
I so so appreciate it!!
Hello everyone! I am currently writing a research paper for AP Capstone on NASA and its impact on society. Filling out this survey will greatly assist me in this endeavor. Thank you!
I am a rising sophomore and I am thinking about doing AP capstone, is there anybody here who took AP capstone that I can talk about it with? Thanks!
