A list of puns related to "A Quiet Place Part II"
Just watched A Quiet Place Part II and noticed DOB and Remdog in the beginning of the movie.
Itβs a flashback to the beginning of the apocalypse and theyβre listening to baseball on an old school FM radioβ¦ which just so happens to be the Red Sox TV broadcastβ¦ in upstate New York lol. Iβm sure most people wouldnβt catch the inconsistency but I definitely did and thought it was funny.
The first entry in the A Quiet Place series ended right after the family figured out how to kill the monsters. They show the CCTV feed they have set up to see a swarm of monsters approaching, it cuts to Emily Blunt, who cocks her shotgun, before a cut to black. Badass ending, obviously teasing a sequel.
Then, the sequel came! And, after the prequel prologue, opens up to them...just walking out of the basement. No battle with the monsters, no (what would have admittedly been an extremely disappointing) simple shot of dead monsters on the ground anywhere...just nothing.
How do you forget your own film's badass ending and not follow up on that?!

Notes
A Quiet Place Part II - And a round of applause to A Quiet Place Part II feeling the like the film that really got it right in terms of where to end up in order to hit box office re-opening at the right time. While likely under the potential $60M - $80M opening it could have had last year, the fact that this film delayed for over a year still managed to snag $57M and push the overall weekend to the best one since March 2020 is quite impressive and a really good sign of things to come. The sequel to the surpassingly massive 2018 hit had triple the budget and a healthy ad campaign so this one may still be a bit of a loss when all things are tabulated and calculatroned. But at this point it's more about keeping theaters and the industry alive so I'm sure Paramount is very happy today and Quiet Place Part 3: Sound's Revenge is certainly still on the books.
Cruella - This is a rather interesting one for the future of big movie releases as Cruella opened to a solid if not wowing $26.5M at #2 for the three-day weekend. Now of course the big factor here is that the film was also day and date released on PVOD (premium video on demand) for $30 on Disney+, so certainly we can chalk up several millions and maybe even tens of millions less at this box office to that decision (we can't know for sure as Disney does not release digital sales numbers). But what is fascinating here is that the $25M number is much higher than some expected and shows that when given the option people will still take the potential bigger buck and certainly bigger stress of seeing a film in a theater than in the comfort of their home. The real test will certainly be Black Widow, also getting a D&D release on streaming and theaters but with that being a $200M bombastic action film there will certainly be more incentive to go the theatrical route. But then there's a new issue. Say in theory that Black Widow scores $250M domestic and $800M world. Now on top of that it earns $50M - $100M on PVOD. Then Disney may begin to wonder why aren't

As with other movies, the scores are set to change as time passes. Meanwhile, I'll post some short reviews on the movie.
> Taking on solo screenwriting credit in his taut follow-up, director John Krasinski again foregrounds that disorienting premise of a modern world in which noise can get you killed, as the same characters this time desperately struggle to protect one another without their fallen paterfamilias. Itβs another breathless chamber piece, expertly crafted to pack dread into every nerve-rattling sound.
-David Rooney, The Hollywood Reporter
> The conceit that drives this burgeoning franchise β aliens, but they hear really well β makes for effective enough horror and tension, but Krasinskiβs very real, very deep affection for the family he has placed in the middle of all this is what seems destined to keep truly growing. As his chops as an action and horror director have only increased, care of those natty set pieces and plenty of real ingenuity, Krasinski hasnβt lost sight of the human drama that makes it all work. Krasinski never meant to be a horror guy, but heβs always known what scares people.
> Simmonds is an excellent performer: bold, confident and forthright, holding her own opposite the alpha-emoting presence of Murphy. In the end, itβs impossible not to see these gross creatures as Covid metaphors, and impossible not to delight in their comeuppance. What a pleasure to see a big, brash picture like this on the big screen.
-Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian: 4/5
> Krasinski assembles a recognizable geography that makes the introduction of an off-shore colony, as well as a band of survivors who look like they just ambled out of βThe Hills Have Eyes,β seem within reach of the Abbotts as they fight both to stay
