Saw this interesting stat from Rich Hoffman of the athletic. https://twitter.com/rich_hofmann/status/1471678164216827905?s=21
Rebounding has been one of the clearest differences between the team with and without Simmons. Defense has taken a big hit as well compared to last year.
One through 5, who had the best or deepest defensive group 5 years ago?
How well do you think RAPTOR captures Russ' decline? Does the model underappreciate his value based on a flawed methodology, or do you think it matches the eye test?
Now provide your unpopular opinions about this team. This is OUR dark horse team and we get to have unpopular opinions.
This season teams are averaging 108.8 PPG which is down from the 112.1 from last year. It is the lowest scoring season in 3 years which you might remember is the last season before the reduced shot clock rule change.
Teams were averaging about 106.3 PPG in 2018 and following the rule change that number jumped to 111.2 following the rule change the next season.
Honestly I like the rule change and less of the ridiculous scores we’ve seen in the last few seasons. Sure shootouts can be cool but when every game is a shootout, the novelty wears out pretty quickly

Same as title:
We sold two crucial players from our title win in Costa and Matic and then actively downgraded on them over that summer.
We didn't get Conte his first choice targets because of stupid penny-pinching after having won the PL when we should've gone big to consolidate.
We literally had no midfield apart from Kante because both Bakayoko and Drinkwater were rubbish and Fabregas had already started to lose his stamina.
We had fucking Morata up top who missed much more sitters than he actually scored goals while Willian and Pedro both had end product issues despite how capable they were. Hazard was good but he'd been denied a lot of assists due to poor finishing from everyone else.
Three of the clubs that finished ahead of us had better teams on paper at the start itself while Liverpool also drastically improved in the second half after VVD joined them.
It's testament to Conte's ability in league management that we finished on 70 points and also won the FA Cup after that dumpster fire of a transfer window.
I'll die on the hill that he had every reason to rip the board apart in public after all the shambolic transfers he had to put up with after just winning us the PL in convincing fashion. I'm really surprised how he didn't resign after his first season itself because that's very much in his nature.
I mean he was an All-Star that year averaging 18/9 on career high 62 TS% during the regular season. He averaged 21/12 in the series against the Raptors and finished 3 out of 4 games in the Finals with 20+/10+ statlines against the greatest ever assembled. LeBron's 2018 playoff run was historic and the widespread narrative was that he single handedly took a Cavs team that had no bussiness even beating Toronto in the ECSF to the Finals (which I don't even remotely argue against), but can anyone that followed the Cavs more than me tell me if Love actually provided decent help for LeBron that year?
Something for United to look at and replicate or better.
Insane stats. This season we saw likes of Bamford Watkins and Pereira do well in PL immediately after a successful championship season
Will Ivan Toney be in your team if Brentford gets promoted or if he joins a PL club next season?
One to keep an eye on for sure.
Since the Nuggets lost a heartbreaker against the Wolves and the Refs on the final game of the 2017 season, they are undefeated against the Wolves. Also Carmelo Anthony is still yet to win in Denver since being traded from the Nuggets.
Edit for title: *in the regular season
