2013 Stanley Cup Finals Puns

I was thinking about the 2013/2014 playoff run the other day and wondered where those guys are now, knowing that only one of them remains on the team today (although more than half are still playing in the NHL). So I spent way too much time making a list of where they are all playing now or what they're doing in retirement.

• Chris Kreider - Kreids has been with the Rangers ever since, currently sitting in the same spot on the top line. LGR!
• Derek Stepan - Stepan played four more seasons with the Rangers before being traded to Arizona (along with Raanta in exchange for Tony DeAngelo and the pick that got us Lias Anderson - yuck). He was then traded to Ottawa where he played 20 games before undergoing season ending shoulder surgery. He then signed as a free agent with Carolina where he is currently centering the fourth line.
• Rick Nash - Nash played four more seasons with the Rangers (including his career best points wise in 14/15). He was traded to Boston, as part of Rangers' rebuild (that trade brought Lindgren to the Rangers, FYI), where he played only 11 games before retiring from professional hockey due to unresolved concussion symptoms. In 2019 he joined Columbus management as special assistant to the GM; his 61 will be the first number retired in Columbus franchise history later this season.
• Carl Hagelin - Hagelin played another season with the Rangers before being traded to Anaheim, where he struggled to produced. The Ducks traded him to Pittsburgh where he played for four seasons, w

Bruins in ‘13 and ‘19, Habs in ‘21.

The amount of star talent was simply baffling. The Red Wings, led by Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen, Rafalski and company, were Mike Babcock’s finest team. Experienced, battle-tested vets vs. the up-and-coming Penguins, led by Crosby, Malkin, Fleury, Staal, and Gonchar. Throw in Hossa on both sides and an intense game 7 in the latter final. Thoughts?

5th straight year NBA Finals will have more viewers than the WS.

I only went back to 2001 because that's when the loser point was added for OT so other point totals may have been skewed.

The previous distinction was held by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2003 at 61 points.

Great series. Leaf fans we lost to an opponent who were one game away.

I'm not going to lie though, seeing the Bruins give up 2 goals in the final 2 minutes in Game 6 is probably the next best thing to the Leafs being in the Cup Final.
